The UT article on Jason Ball really shows Ball to be a spoiled brat. He is complaining that he only made $540,000.00 his first 2 years and that he doesn't want to play for the Chargers even if they offer him a multiyear contract because his feelings are hurtthat the Chargers drafted another center.
How many guys out of college make that much money in their first 2 years or any time in their lives?
The Chargers drafted Hardwick as a guard. They moved him to center because the big baby never showed up for work. I don't think I would even want him on the rooster. I think we should trade him for an unconditional draft choice. If he starts for someone, we get a 3rd or 4th rd pick.
Maybe his attitude will change when he actually shows up, but he seems to be a "my way" or I'm taking the ball and going home" type guy.
The Chargers said they would give him a multiyear contract when he showed up, and he won't show up.
So I say forget about him and try to get something in return for him if he doesn't do a 180 in attitude.

The Chargers gave him a chance, coming from a small school in the North East. He got to learn under a very good OL coach, and a quality veteran.
If Raymer hadn't got hurt, he would still just be fighting for a roster spot.
I find his being mad at the Chargers for selecting a center in the draft as bizarre. The Bolts did have to find another center, after the release of Raymer. He's just using that as an excuse, especially giving his supporters one more round of useless ammo.
Trade him.

I love the part about how Jason is going to return this year out of respect for his teammates.
What a bunch of BS.
The ONLY reason he is returning is because he needs this year to be able to hit free agency.
I hope the Chargers screw the guy. And trust me, I am not usually a vindictive person.
His attitude absolutely blows.i/expressions/face-icon-small-confused.gif

I agree with all of you, Ball is a brat. He should try digging ditches for minimum wage, then maybe he would appreciate what he had. This guy is a real dumb horses rearend in my humble opinion.i/expressions/face-icon-small-frown.gif

He just needs his diaper changed. A little diaper rash ointment. Maybe a new bottle. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v325/Boltron/cry.gif

Did you read about his agent on 1090 saying if he comes back for minimum salary he will give minimum effort? What kind of **** is that? AJ should suspend him for that statement and let him rot for this year. He can peddle himself to some other team next year and sign on as a twoveteran for, guess what? - the same two year minimum salary. The team doesn't need people with that kind of attitude. Suspend him!

I listened to the whole interview this morning on 1090. I was completely shocked.

Ball just digs himself in a little more each time. I bet old craxie is defending him on this one as well.
My suggestion on what to do with Ball:
1. Trade his rights for a ham sandwich.
2. If he signs the tender before the trading deadline, suspend him for the three games allowable under the CBA, then trade him for the ham sandwich.
3. If he signs the tender after the trading deadline, suspend him for the three games, then cut him.
I'll bet the two most disappointed guys are HH and the scout that found him.

I don't know about ham, could be pushing it, maybe half a grilled cheese.
It'd be nice if they could sign him and immediately fine him for his comments. I'd love to see them fine him to the point where he was in the hole.

Can you remember any Charger player that turned the fans against them any quicker than Ball has? He was a fan favorite - sort of a feel good story. Now he only has Craxie in his corner - and I bet Craxie is a friend, a relative, his agent, or Jason himself.

I believe this time I agree with AJ's stance - "I won't speak of him any more". The organization should ignore both him and his agent and let him set out this year. If a team contacts AJ for a trade he should demand 3 No. 1 draft picks and a hoggie "sammich" before he will talk to them.
Don't mess with AJ - not while he has the full backing of the Spanos family.

As an agent I can tell you, Ball was screwed by his. Had he done his job and followed the developments of the team and it's emerging philosophy, he'd have advised his client to get into camp while he did his job and worked to re-negotiate. Ball's career may be irreparably damaged and frankly, I'm willing to be the kid was simply doing EXACTLY what his agent told him to do. "Follow the script Jason, you just had your breakout year, do it now in case of injury or a bad performance". . .
Bad bad timing and worse agenting when it has finally become "team first" for the Chargers. . .

Guys like Welker bust their butt to make the team while guys like Ball sit around thinking the world owes them something.
Amazing.

Well, I am glad to see that Craxie has indeed not found this forum yet. His unswerving devotion to Jason was truly mystifying in the UT boards. No matter how it was explained to him, he still persisted in his views. After hundreds of posts on the subject, we finally found out that he was a management hater. So with that in mind, I doubt he will show up here, which is fine with me.
As for Jason, he listened to his agent and screwed himself.
Go Bolts!
