Just heard it on the NFL network, Gallery will not plat tackle this year, they are trying him at guard. Raiders old LT has beat him out, is that another way of saying he not as good as everybody thought? i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif

Wow, I'm surprised. That makes me look pretty bad because I was all over the idea of the Bolts getting him. .......... and you thought I knew everything about football! i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif

Don't get too down on yourself, 'Roo. Gallery was my top pick also. I think this is just another way of the football gods telling us that we're in great hands with AJ. i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif

Hey, I just kept thinking of Tony Mandrich and so I wanted and got Philip Rivers. I still think he will be a good player, so don't be too hard on yourselves, I'm just kind of happy that all the Faider fans have to sweat a little.

Didn't Ogden start out at Guard? This could be more of a testament to how good Barry Sims is playing.

Maybe Barry Sims is headed to Hawaii. i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif

I think that Gallery is going to be a stud. I'm sure that part of the reason he is at Guard is because of that elbow injury. It's alot less of a factor at G than T.

They just had a SF beat writer on ESPN Radio this morning. He basically said that Robert Gallery will be a stud, that this is just a stopgap. He expects Gallery to be protecting Gannon's or Collins' blind-side before the year is over.

PS. Gotta love that "Spanning the Globe" segment on Colin Cowherd's show at 7:30 am. He talks to sports writers from all around the country in rapid-fire fashion; it's great to get a quick look at what's going in other cities. Check it out for those who've never heard it.

YES! a bust for the raiders.

as long as that bust doesn't end up in canton:nono:

Gallery has gotten the shortest end of the stick since he's been there. The Raiders won't let him develop at a position, and then keep changing coaches and profiles on him.

Ideal play from that Draft: CHargers trade Eli for the Giant's #4 pick BEFORE the GIants draft Rivers. We draft Sean Taylor. Resign Brees.
End result: Keep a ProBowl QB and get a Superstar young free safety

I love PR but this situation sounds pretty nice

Merriman/Rivers > Brees/Taylor

That's not what he's saying. What he's saying is that Brees/Taylor/Merriman>Merriman/Rivers.

That would mean that we would have wanted Brees as the starter of the future after the 2003 season. I don't think there were many who would have seen that as a bright future for the bolts after a 4-12 season. lol.

Brees is as big, if not bigger question mark as River's is right now. Can Brees play and to what level? will he be able to take the pounding on his surgically repaired arm?.

Whoa! I was a Gallery guy too. I thought he was just the ticket to help Brees become all he could be.

Merriman/Rivers > Brees/Taylor

We would have still gotten Merriman in the trade. Only difference is Brees, Sean Taylor, Merriman vs. Rivers, Merriman

I think he needed one more year before we gave up on him. He hadn't enough time for us to fully see if he would be good. I would have given him one more year and brought in a veteran backup in case he stunk (at the time a guy like Mark Brunell was available and cheap).

If it turned out he was no good, we would have had Brunell as a good enought starter to take us to the playoffs that year, and found a QB the next year. And would have still gotten Sean Taylor with the trade.

Always looks better in hindsight, I mean who knew Brees would blow up or that Taylor would bea stud. But would have been nice i think

Everybody around the league were at one point saying that Gallery was the safest and sure shot pick in the 2004 draft...along the lines of Orlando Pace. Not.

Even Big Ben and She-li really haven't proven anything to me either. Best pick in that draft would have to be Larry Fitzgerald. Rivers could probably be the best overall if he proves it on the field.

Now these so called experts say that Cromartie was arguably a huge "risk" pick - something tells me that these evaluators aren't as sure shot as they think.

3 years down the road...Gallery gets bounced around...RT - Lt...now Guard.
wow.

wow.

This is a two year old thread.

Guard was what he played back in 2004 - his rookie season. I'm pretty sure they still have him playing LOT.

I was mad until We traded Eli for Rivers. That made me sorta happy.

Then Game 1 came, and gallery's consistent performance has made me a very happy man.
