Do you think they took so long to name Brees because they were trying to move him?

I hope they weren't. Drew is the man. . .for this game, now don't screw up or give a reason for benching you.

I think he was trying to move "A" QB, but not Brees. He was probably trying to move Lemons or maybe Flutie. Lemons did a great job in pre-season and they were probably hoping for a high draft pick or a good O-Line man this year for him. I guess he did not get enough interest for them to think it was worth it. He is proably getting the least amount that they can pay him and he seems to be real solid.
I think Brees just did to good of a job in pre-season for them to consider trading him. Not with the new stadium deal on the ballot in 2 years, they have to win and win now or they will never get the votes.

For once, Marty made the right decision!

Yep the smart move was Brees, glad to see Marty came to his senses. Also it give Brees one last shot and I think he deserved it with his off season work. Now he needs to prove he is still a capable QB this Sunday. I'm guessing he is on a short leash, if the Chargers are 0-3 with this soft part of the schedule in the begining of the season I'm looking for a quick hook and Rivers to start the second home game vs Tenn.

Drew deserves to start, he has worked his tail off. Let's just hope he keeps throwing darts like he did to Parker last week.
Good luck to him and Go Chargers!!!

Hey Bud, cool site.
I knew he would name Bree's. The question is for how long?

Good luck to Drew and hopefully this will be a good move for the Chargers and give Philip also time to learn the system better. I am admittedly biased and would love to see PR break loose and start but as a fan of the TEAM...I also want what is best for the team and for Philip also. If it's best that Drew start, then I'll be a part of his cheering section. I truly believe that PR is a team guy first and foremost and he'll take this as a learning experience and make the most of it. In the meantime...GO BOLTS!!!!

Brees is definately the guy to start. I have him as one of my starting QB's in my FF league. I think he can be a better than average QB in this league and having LT there can only make him better. But, more than anything, I just want the team to win. GO BOLTS!!!!!

Brees is the man right now. And should be the starting QB until he proves us wrong. Had Rivers been in camp from the start the QB pool would have looked a lot different. Now that the decision has been made lets prove the world wrong. Step 1: Kick the Texans gluteal region.
Here's a little incentive to get pumped up:
From HoustonChronicle.com
"Starting with a victory over the Chargers at Reliant Stadium, there are no legitimate reasons for this team not to win seven or eight games in its third season.
No matter what kind of optimism exists in the dressing room, expecting the Texans to compete for the playoffs in their third season is too much to ask. The AFC South is too good.
Realistically, 2005 is when the Texans should become a legitimate playoff contender. But it'll be inexplicable and inexcusable for the Texans not to win a third consecutive season opener, and, at some point this season, earn back-to-back victories for the first time."
Sounds like they a bit over confident. Let's go have us a Texas Barbeque Boys!!! Go Bolts!!!!
