I have been a fan since the Dan Fouts/Air Coryell days. Let me tell you -- it is not easy to follow the Bolts here! Oh sure! On every given Sunday the Jets and Giants are on TV. It doesn't matter if they are good or lousy, playing an important game or just playing out the string! Do you know how tough it is to 'watch' a game using ESPN's Game Cast? Ugh!

Perhaps the best part of rooting for the Chargers here is that I do not look like every other local football fan when I am all decked out in my Chargers regalia!

Great that they are playing so well!

Sounds fun / dangerous! The closest thing to that I did was I went to Yankee Stadium when they were playing the Mets and I was all decked out in my Met's gear. Boy, did I get it from my fellow NY'ers who were a-rootin' for the guys in pinstripes!

I live in New York, the state, not the city. I know that many people think there is nothing else, but there is a lot outside of the city and that is where I am. During the winters, I rather be in San Diego, during the summers, I'd rather be in San Diego. I am sure that there are times I'd rather be in New York, just can't think of any right now.

Haha. For that game, one of my best friends was in town and I took her to the local bar I usually frequent for the games and we had EAGLES fans complain about how loud we were. There were like 8 Eagles fans chanting "E-A-G-L-E-S, EAGLES!!" and they complained about two little chicks. Hi Y'all!

Just moved here this summer and have been wandering from bar to bar unsuccessfully trying to find a decent place to watch the Chargers game over the heads of loud BillsJetsGiantsPatriots fans, and waiting for a Charger fan to come up with a plan and a place... Well, I guess I'm gonna start my own.

Found a sports bar that just opened a few months ago that's got plenty of room for us fans to gather and cheer our team on the other coast. My girl and I have been there twice and yesterday Kenny the bartender even put the game on the projector screen for us, though we were the only two watching that game! When we left (heartened by a great win!) Kenny told us whenever we came in one of the screens will always be reserved for the Chargers game! :Helmet: Soo...

We'll be there every game we can and would love to meet up with anyone starting with this Sunday's Chiefs game who will root and commiserate with us for our beloved and sometimes frustrating Chargers. It'd be great to have a chargers bar out here, so whaddya say guys and gals?? I'll reserve a table or two if anyone wants to join us. :Cheers:

Bar is called the Still, and it's on 3rd Avenue and 17th Street, on the East side of Manhattan. We had a car last time and found street parking pretty easy, too! By the way, I am not affiliated with this place in any way, just a good vibe, not supercrowded. Good wings too : )

Excellent! Like everyone else says, I thought I was the only Bolt fan in NYC. I only just moved here in August, and the few bars I've tried to watch a game in sucked. Not sure about meeting this Sunday, as my sister will be in town visiting from San Diego -- but she's a sports fan (Padres, monstly), so maybe we'll come on out!

EDITED TO ADD: Okay, we're confirmed... I'll bring out my girlfriend and sister, so that's three more Bolt fans this Sunday to watch the Chiefs lose again in Arrowhead Stadium! (Well, two Bolt fans and one Colts fan.) Count us in if you make a reservation (and I hope we can get the projector screen again -- do they also play audio?).

after the game i went over to MC (something or another)'s on 19 and 1. my friend runs the bar on sundays and she says that there is usually a handful of chargers fans there. that's only 2 blocks up and 2 blocks over from The Still. perhaps the 2 groups should merge!?

SO damn bummed I missed watching this game with you...I have been really sick with the cough from hell all week and just wasn't feeling up to trekking down there. I too am a fellow NY Chargers Fan. I didn't realize there were so many around here either. I am in Lower Westchester County and have found a way to watch every Bolts game this year without having DirecTV at home but the bar i go to of course just has the picture and the sound of only the Jets or Giants game and no other SD fans around. Its nice to know of the Bar you all go to now, i might check it out next season, as the playoffs are now on basic TV, i like to enjoy it on my big screen at home in case i throw things across the room if the Bolts do bad, i wouldn't want to get kicked out of the bar!

There are usually a few people there...the first week when it was all of us, there were about 7. I think it's varied since then with people being out of town for the holidays and whatnot. I have lived my entire life in San Diego from birth to college, and then to work. I am now finally leaving the area after 25 years of being here to relocate to the NYC/ North NJ area for a new job. I will be living in Hoboken, NJ which many of you know is only 13 minutes away from Manhatten by the PATH. Where can I watch Charger games and are there any good Charger bars? I also watch college football, so does anyone know where I can see USC, Cal and UCLA football games?

Ugh, well, word has finally come down, i do have to work on Sunday. While you guys are having fun watching the game, drinking and eating wings, i'll be working 10 blocks south of you in Cooper Union. Perhaps a miracle will occur and lunchtime will coincide with the end of the game. In which case i'll run up the street to join you in celebration before running back and resuming work (with a colts fan).
But realistically, the end of the game is probably going to coincide with a large lighting change on set and i'll miss it completely even on the small portable poor reception tv i'm hoping to borrow for the day.

anybody know of a good bar down in the area of cooper union that i can sneak to when i say i'm going to the truck or the restroom?

I am a fan since 79 I lived in New jersey all my life. It was fouts every sunday at 4pm est. Chargers played all the time in nj. I was at the afc championship game in pitt. They were celebrating so much before the game they shot a video ala bears but never got on air because they lost. We had no shot then, we looked awful and only completed two huge pass plays and pulled it out. I was a die hard since 82 playoff game vs miami. The famous hook and lateral game. I was also at the snowball game in giants stadium. GOOOOO CHARGERS!!!!. I watched them so much my wife has become a fan and lives and dies on every play. she was ready to throw up in the first half, but we partied liked we won the lottery when it was over. IT was with great relief that we won. I am statisfied but we want more.

Hello all Chargers fanatics. I am new to this message board, but not new as a fan of the SuperChargers!!!

I will be travelling to 3 games this season and my girlfriend and I are looking to hang out with other Charger fans while we are there. We live on Long Island, NY (yes, that's right- we are Charger fans from the East Coast) and we have already booked our trip to see LT, Philip and the boys play the Dolphins in Florida on October 5th. We will also be going to the games at home in SD on Nov 30 vs. Atlanta and Thurs nite, Dec 4 vs. Oakland.

We already have tix to the Oct 5 game in Fla, but we are currently looking for tix to the 2 games in SD

So, if anyone out there is also going to see the game vs. the Dolphins- let us know by sending us an e-mail. We would love to hang out with other Charger fans while we are there.

In addition, we are looking for good tix to the 2 games in SD. If anyone has seats they are looking to sell to those 2 games- contact us.

Also, does anyone on this board know of a bar in the NY/LI area to watch the games with other Charger fans? We've been watching the games at a place called Mustang Sally's in West Islip, NY for years- but they still do not have HDTVs, and we need to make a change. Any ideas, fellow NY/LI Charger fans?

Also, is anyone else going to the game in Florida on Oct. 5? If so, we'd love to hang out with other Charger fans while we are in the Ft Lauderdale/Miami area.

Does everyone realize that it dipped down to only 47 degrees in Buffalo last night!!!!!!!???????????? It's gonna be about 20 friggin' degrees at that game in mid-to-late October


Man, I hate cold weather! For those NY Chargers interested, a bunch of us are flying down to Miami for the game on Oct. 5 vs. the Dolphins. It should be about 85 and sunny- much more my style

I have about 3-4 friends coming with me from NYC to Miami on that weekend. Also, there are about 10-15 people from my tailgate crew back in SD coming too. We are going to have a TAILGATE there... Dear NYCmari-


While tailgating with other Charger fans sounds fun.......................In case you've never been to the Miami/South Beach area, the party generally rages until 5am on Saturday nights(later, if you're into going to those clubs with the dance music and the velvet ropes). Instead, a bunch of us are planning to meet at Automatic Slim's - a bar in downtown Ft Lauderdale- on Saturday night. We will be the people dancing, drinking and having fun in our Charger colors!!

So, waking up to be in a hot (yes, it will be sunny and 85 degrees) parking lot with no shade at 10 or 11am is not in our plans (TO EACH THEIR OWN, I say!!!). We were hoping to meet up with other Charger fans at the restaurants or bars- or even at the beach- on Saturday. If anyone is looking to hang out After we beat the Fish and celebrate at a sports bar and watch the 4pm NFL games- that we would be up for.

That said, I've been to Miami/South Beach over a dozen times (including just 3 months ago), and I've been to the Fort Lauderdale are a few times (including just last month) so here is some info for those of us going to the game in October.

The stadium is actually closer to Ft Lauderdale, so my girl and I are flying into that airport. Below are some great things to do in both the Ft Lauderdale area and the Miami/South Beach areas:

WAY off the subject, but maybe you can tell me, (since you live near the Delaware River), just how late into Sept. can someone without a wetsuit tube on the river. I'm jonesing for a nice relaxing 5hr trip down the river without freezing my a$$ off. Last year I went the last week of Aug. and the water was great so I'm guessing that it's not too bad during Sept.

Water is good through Sept, especially if it stays in the 80's for a while longer. I'm going rafting down it on Friday so I will let you know if anything changes.

Apparently, the best place in the NY area for Charger fans to watch their team is at a bar called The Still on 6th Ave and 17th Street (I think that's the location)

YES, we have an informal group of Chargers fans in the NYC area that meet at the Still on the LES (Third Ave. and E. 17th Street), and we coordinate our meetings via our Google group, which you can sign up to here: http://groups.google.com/group/nyc-chargers

I also just joined the Meetup group (http://chargers.meetup.com/6/) referenced above, and encourage you all to do the same. If we combine forces via the Meetup and Google group, we should be able to collect most of the Chargers fans in the tri-state area!

We'll all be at the Still on Sunday for the season opener! Specials include $30 beer bongs, $2 Bud/Bud Light and Miller beers, $8 samplers and 25-cent wings.

Marisa, let's keep it objective. It's more than five, and we should all -- as a whole group -- go wherever the majority wants to go. You seem to be heavily advocating Still, as if you work for them. Let's see what the majority thinks after this season. The number five seems to equal the number of people who openly say they like Still.
