He was the greatest crippled QB to ever play the game, how many players could put up his numbers with two completely destroyed knees and 5 major knees surgeries....Simply Amazing.
Flutie has that kind of magic, let's see if he can bring back some of that Fouts magic and bleed Blue and Yellow for us, at least for a little while. I would take losses with the GUTSY perfromance and commitment of Flutie over the "helmet throwing tempertantrums" of Brees anyday, what an embarassment.

Cmon. Flutie is terrible. Did you watch how he deftly moved the team down the field to score in 4 minutes using the 2 minute offense? Two of his passes were lucky not to be picked off and this was all against a prevent defense.
Face it, both our QB's suck.
I just hope Rivers is getting reps in practice because he certainly is the only one with a possible future for our team.

Get Brees some coverage and some WRs to throw to, and the man will work some magic!

Beer? are you kidding me? it would take pounding down Jack Daniels to believe that one. Ya Flutie may have had the hail mary, but we had hundreds of overly exciting games from Fouts, topped off by the Epic in Miami, which blows away anything that Flutie has ever done by a long shot.
But what really makes Fouts better than Flutie, bad knees and all, was his touch. Something no other QB in history can match. The receiver could be just a crossed the line of scrimmage or 50 yards down the field. Fouts had a touch so good he could float it in to the receiver like he was catching a pillow. Ya Flutie can be fun to watch, but he is no match for Fouts, not even in the same class.

I'll always remember Dan Fouts as the toughest man I ever saw play QB - anywhere! - not just for the Chargers. Nobody before or since would hold the ball that long, KNOWING he was going to get pounded, then use his quick-release for a completion and take the beating. Others have tried it and they just couldn't take the beating. From his 4th year forward, Dan did it week in and week out through each and every season thereafter.
On top of it - he had the skinniest, most knock-kneed legs on any player I ever saw - but damn he was a man!

I have an autographed stenciled poster of Dan Fouts in full flight gear right before he flew with the Blue Angels. It hangs proudly in my office. Dan had the hugest STONES known to mankind. Dan Fouts rocks. i/expressions/SDG_Bolt.gif
