Yea so much for our "Tough as Nails QB". Despite what the media is reporting, it wasn't really the hit that hurt him. Our Offensive Coordinator said the ball did it when Steve fell on it. I'm sure it hurts, and I'm sure if he could have played he would have (he's in the hospital for cryin out loud). But C'mon, players fall on footballs every Sunday in the NFL. A lot of people here in Nashville think something has been wrong with Steve for a while now. He's looked sluggish since week one and his passing game has left a lot to be desired.
Our backup QB is good too though, so don't think you guys are off the hook just yet. i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif

See, now this is why the teach kids in pop warner, to fall on a ball with your hands and curl up, not pounce on it, hence causing this injury. Either way, if McNair sits, that's better chances for the Bolts! go bolts!

Steve won't sit - predictably, he just won't practice - then he'll come in and play the game.

Well hopefully he won't play that well. Anything to help us works for me.

News channels here in tn are reporting he'll be out for two weeks. He still hasn't left the hospital.

I think he had this injury a couple of years ago and he had the bye week after sustaining the injury and then didnt start the next game.

I agree. He definitely isnt tough in the physical sense. He is always injured: fragile is a better word. At least he must have a high pain threshold.
Volek has looked good in limited exposure, but he got hurt the last time he played too.

How could he pass up the opportunity to pad his stats?

Mc Nair will at least start. Finishing the game is a different story but I wouldn't be surprised if he did. The titans are a grinder team too. They aren't high scoring, they'll get a lead and try to kill the clock. McNair is a very smart passer and will take what we give and go for the deep ball every once in a while. With Chris Brown this year, they now have a running game to give McNair another option. Things to watch out for in this game. Short inside routes from Mason, short to medium outside & posts from Bennett and the long ball to Calico (if he plays this week). Brown is a young Eddie George who has 3 100 yrd games (Miami, Indy and Jacksonville. Not easy teams...) already and their defense has been pretty good (ask R Godfrey) for a while now. LT should have a good game though. They have allowed Edjerrin james and Fred Taylor to run on them a bit. Don't look for more than 20 points from either team. Score 20-14. Not saying who'll win.

I saw Voleks' highlights and a few games where he subbed for McNair and I said....damn. He had a whoa dude impression on me and the Bolts did not pull the trigger. I was homering for Gallery early on in the draft and then about 3 weeks before the draft, I jumped into the Rivers wagon. I was sold on this kid. Minicamp and his rough preseason games made me feel comfortable. Rivers checked out of the blizes like a vet.... despite his rookie-ish moments. i/expressions/SDG_Bolt.gif

Have to admit that very same thing was in the back of my mind.

I said this elsewhere - I also have worked my way through a bruised sternum - its painful but can be done. Given his history, I think McNair won't practise this week and once again will play the game come Sunday... If you follow Tennessee at all you know he has done that a *lot* and done so successfully over the past several years. This year he seems "off", overthrowing receivers, etc. It could be to the Bolts advantage if he tries it again. We'll know Sunday.

And given the fact that he was Co-MVP last season, you've gotta give the man props.
Which is why I said McNair is more dangerous when he's hurt.

Although I agree that Volek may not be as good as McNair, he should not be taken lightly. He is a very capable quarterback and has played well in the times that he has gotten playing time. Our defense will need to be on their toes whoever is making the calls at QB for the titans this week.

He's was the Fresno State QB in between Dilfer and Carr. He's got a strong arm. Accurate (in college at least).

Volek could be the change of pace our offense needs. Trumpet Dude is right, Volek is more than capable. After McNair's lackluster debut this season, I'm not sure Volek could be any worse.

I agree Trumpet Dude. I was pro Volek when he was a free agent, I was hoping the Chargers would grab him but my hopes fell on deaf ears I guess.... He is just as good, if not better then McNair and the way we have been playing Dont be shocked if he shreds our secondary apart!!!

I've had this injury. The man will be out or worthless. Imagine somone hitting your chest a full speed with a facemask. No pads.

I saw McNair go out. Billy Volek is a damn good Q.B. I was hoping the Bolts could have traded for him in the off season.

McNair knocked out in 4th quarter (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=1889482)
This guy gets it done better when he's hurt.
Anybody follow Volek?
Isn't he outta Fresno State?
