TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) -- The Arizona Cardinals released safety Dexter Jackson, who had been sidelined since training camp with a back injury.
Jackson, the Super Bowl MVP with Tampa Bay two seasons ago, had not been able to participate in training camp and had been on the injured reserve list since early September.
He was released late Wednesday, said Cardinals spokesman Mark Balton. He was not given an injury settlement.
Jackson, 27, signed a five-year, $14 million contract with Arizona as a free agent last year. He played at free safety for all 16 games for the Cardinals during the 2003 season.

While the Chargers are at it, maybe they can sign Larry Brown. i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif
There's a reason why one of the worst teams in the NFL cut him. After the last two seasons bad chemistry and this year's massive improvement, Jackson's the last guy the Chargers need.

I almost posted this earlier but refrained because I would rather have the team use Clinton Hart and keep these young guys growing together. Jackson is only 27 but I guess this back injury he has won't go away. There has to be a good reason a team as bad as the Cards would void his contract and eat the money.

Ok, am I overlooking something? Wasnt he placed on the IR? I mean what sense would it be to bring in a guy that is still injured or could "Re-Injure" himself and sit out the rest of the season with us.. Good poit on the fact that if the worst team in football cut him then there has to be something more to this guy.. Definately sounds like a D Boston to me.. Keep Clinton Hart, we dont need someone like him and the luggage he carries..just MHO...

Excellent point, what good would it be to sign a guy who is hurt and was placed on IR by his last team. That being said, it is odd to cut a guy on IR at this point in the season. He must have had some kind of roster bonus coming up.
Go Bolts!

To get cut from IR must mean something is up, either his injury is worse than thought or he's healed and he cant be sctivated. Then again they may have a young guy they like and he was expendable, who knows but we'll find out soon enough if he lands on another team and is doing well with them. I think The Bolts just need to let the guys we have jell and keep playing together.
