It’s a quiet week, not a lot of “big games”, or for that matter, player match-ups, although…
I/we get yet another chance to evaluate Mathias Kiwanuka DE 6-7 260, when Boston College plays Notre Dame… Kiwi’s been on the tube a bunch… last weeks battle with Pitts Rob Petitti LOT 6-6 335, was interesting – I’ll call it a draw… Petitti’s pretty damn good, and Pitt was doubling/chipping on Kiwi all game, so sometimes its hard to evaluate Kiwi because he lines up everywhere - left/right side, standing up/three point, etc... ND will counter with Justin Tuck, (Jr) DE, 6-5 239, he’s also a speedy pass rushing end…
SEC Game of the Week - Alabama (5-2) v Tennessee (5-1), 12:30 CBS
For Bama, the offensive line is worth watching with star Wesley Britt LOT, 6-8 315, 2002 & 2003 First-Team All-SEC (Coaches) – currently listed on CollegeFootballNews Mid-Season player review – I would love to see him in bolts… Bama can’t pass, so they have to run… the Vols will counter with their front seven, led by Kevin Burnett OLB, 6-3 235, on this years Playboy All-America team… least we forget, Mike Munoz LOT, 6-6 315, perhaps a first round pick, will make for an interesting comparison to Britt… The Tides’ D is only allowing 13 points per game; the Vols offense is only averaging 16.7 points per game - one big play and Erik Ainge, the freshman, wins this one…
ACC Game of the Week – Miami (5-0) v NC State (4-2), 4:45 ESPN
Love these late afternoon games, especially when a team like Miami can rack up the yards, and NC State is leading the nation in total defense… but Miami's defense is only allowing 12.8 points per game… so, the first team to score will win… Miami will miss Eric Winston in this one… which means Brock Berlin will have less time to throw to Ryan Moore WR, 6-3 215, IMO a guy who should be stepping up if he wants to play on Sundays… and, I expect a steady diet of throws to Kevin Everett TE, 6-6 251, who is an outstanding pass receiver… but you know why I’ll be watching --> Antrel Rolle, CB, 6-1 202, also on CollegeFootballNews Mid-Season player review, has gotta be THE first corner taken this 05 draft… For the Wolfpack, it’s all about how long can T.A. McLendon can go…McLendon RB, 5-11 215, a bruisin tailback who’s got a bruisin hammy is the Packs main weapon… The Hurricanes are looking for their 10th consecutive victory. They have not lost since a 10-6 loss to Tennessee… they’ll get it!!!
