people have to it mostly, at least for me, to talk to friends from high school or college and some use it as a dating service. you can meet people. you get to make your own web page. accumulate as many frineds as possible. its just appealing to lots fo people.

I said the exact same thing until I started to get hit up by old friends and new. It's a shallow way of putting yourself out there but it makes for a good time filler.

I am new to myspace, but my customer insisted on setting this up. The images are too wide IMO, anyone know how i can limit the size of images others post in the comments section?

Kids hurt MySpace!
Not only do they fill it full of "HaY GuRl! Holla Back" comments, but they get every news program to say how dangerous it is for kids....which draws negative attention and will probably get something banned or extra restrictions for the millions and millions of adults.
Why are kids using computers unsupervised? Why should everything in the world be dumbed down to suit the most timid, sheltered, Amish kid as to not offend anyone.
If your kid is old/smart enough to sign up and put code into a MySpace account, he/she probably knows how children are created.
It is a space for socializing and networking for adults.
It is a sad day when society has to change because parents cant watch their kids.
How many actual cases of "cyber predators" stalking children have really occurred on MySpace? There are 53 million users on MySpace and I'm sure not all of them are out looking to date Boy Scouts....some are just there to talk to friends and listen to music.
The solution is to ban anyone under 18....who does a 16 year old need to "network" with anyway? :rolleyes:

It is funny to me how so many people are "too good" to use MySpace, but not "too good" to talk to strangers about football on their computer.
If you guys dont like listening to music legally and talking to your friends then that is on you....I happen to enjoy both.
I found this site...it is a band called Game Rebellion. They are kind of a rap band (yes band....as in drums and guitars) and they have a good song called "Lights Out"....might be good for people who make highlight vids!
WARNING- There is some foul language on that site (mostly by kids who need protecting from adults), and the song itself would not be able to be played on regular TV until night time....so I dont recommend anyone listening to it that is offended by the word that is synonymous with "a female dog". Just a fair warning....gotta protect the kids!

It's not Myspace, it's the members who can be extremely... errr... gay.
Despite some of its members (esp. the ones with a penchant for little boys and girls) the overall concept of Myspace is great. Network, keep in touch with friends/family, e-mail, customary profiles, share pics, music... uhh FREE?!

Just like this forum, MySpace is a tool that can be used (or misused) in many ways. I doubt you and Ikeman see your posting marathon as a "whore fest" because as I know you both, your posts had thought and purpose behind them.
You wanna get rid of the few sickos and the rest of the problems on MySpace? Make it impossible for anyone under 18 to be on there.....that would get rid of the stupid high school kids who have no business on there anyway and would get rid of the people who want to "get them".
In my few years on the internet I have been upset less by "running into child molesters" as I have by "running into children".......if you think about it, it is probably true for you and everyone else on the internet.

I enjoy my share of indy music too. To tell you the truth I'm actually more of a fan of the classics. Old 90s stuff like Talking Heads you know? But I've seen some of the stuff you've promoted on here. Not bad. :)

LOL @ the hate for myspace.. it's just like anything else in life there is a good and the bad..it can be used to hook up with predominantly trashier girls or it can be used to keep in contact with friends and also can be used to find people that you have not talked to in years.

MySpace is like a heroin addiction without the upside. If you visit Gorilla Mask's meaning for each type of MySpace photo you'll see the first part of the problem. No one knows how to take a picture anymore. Essentially there are four types of pictures found on My Space. The trendy "I can take pictures off myself in the mirror" photo, the "I'm way too ugly or trying to be too hip to use my real photo" image, the "I'm hideously deformed and want to use a picture of me from far away" photo, and the "look at my dog / booze / make up / left over crack" shot.

I'm on Facebook where you had to use your college email to sign up for it, but now I think anyone can use it. It serves the same purpose as myspace, but you can't customize your own page. I liked it because it was simple and direct. If you go out and meet a lot of people it is a great way to stay in touch by just taking a few seconds to say hi. Plus like someone else said, girls love it for whatever reasons. Facebook was great for me but I'm done with school, no one uses Facebook, and now I'm a loser because everyone else are myspacers haha.

1) sites where broken English is the norm and regular speak makes you strange? not cool
2) conversations should not start with "~**wuuuuzzzzz uuuup**~"
3) fat girls should not have the prefix "cutie pie"
4) if you want to pimp your picture of your trip in Europe to make people jealous, don't think that anyone outside your city limits gives two damns
finally, 5) Two words: MySpace drama - that has to be the biggest waste of emotion I've ever seen.
Going to a place with bad web design to see 14 year olds load a page with 7 videos of 50 Cent and Family Guy with a lame rock song in the background, all while posting pictures that say "You are an apple! See what kind of fruit you are at #@$%#$^^&#$.com"
The only thing MySpace can be good for is finding out information about chicks you're going after. Makes it easier to find out what to say to them. That's it.
