Just returned from seeing the movie "Crash". It was a pretty amazing and thought provoking movie. I would like to know if anyone else has seen it and what you thought of it.

whos in it?

Among others, Don Cheadle, Matt Dillon, Ryan Phillipe, Sandra Bullock. It isn't the actors that make this a great movie. It's the subject matter and how it is presented. Actually, the best performances were by actors I didn't know.

isnt that the one with Ludacris the rapper, if so, i dont think it could be very thought provoking. unless its playing on the all black people are gangstas.

Hey, I've been looking for information on Kassim Osgood because my boyfriend just recently told me that Kasim was his half brother. I was amazed so i looked up Kassim and i want to know more about him. My boyfriend said that Kassim doesnt even know he exsists because his father lives with them now. So please write back with any information you have of him!

If you've seen any good movies lately, post your thoughts on them here.

I saw District 9 yesterday. Pretty good movie. A little hard to follow at first, since it's like you're watching a series of news broadcasts. Once the story gets started tho, it was pretty good.

I'd rate it a 3 out of 5.

Maybe, but I heard it's very hard for the parents. It's not like Shrek or anything.

Funny people was pretty good. It was really funny. I was glad that that Rogen and Sandler both had a pretty equal role and they it wasn't a usual Rogen or Sandler type comedy. The first half is more of a comedy and the second part is more of a I don't really know how to explain it. But I recommend it. Alot of swearing though, but thats kinda a given with a Rogen/Apatow movie.

Meh I really didn't like this movie. I didn't really think it was even that funny. Some funny one liners here and there maybe but that was it, then it got morbid.

I thought it was really funny, but it was just super long. It seemed like it was a movie that was meant to be 90 minutes but when they got finished writing it, it was 2 and a half hours.

We watched Paranormal Activity this weekend. The teenagers were very scared, but us older peeps weren't. In fact, that night both my kids had to sleep with their door open and the light on!

The movie kind of sucked for me, but others liked it, so that's ok.

BTW, it is supposedly based in San Diego. It looked to be very low budget.

I saw Paranormal Activity twice, in theaters and with my parents over the holidays. I can't say it scared me at all either, in fact, I think it was overhyped.

This is a very good movie. Suspenseful, keeps you on the edge of your seat for the most part.

Those EOD guys have a rough job. I'm sure the pressure must be extremely intense.

I'd give it **** out of ***** stars. Definitely recommend it.

This movie came out in 2000 but i had not watched it until two nights ago.Based on a true story of Mark Read a life long criminal in Melbourne Australia.Mark is played by Eric Bana if you seen Judd Apatow’s Funny people he is Adam Sandlers x-wifes new husband.

Mark is released from prison in 86 after 16 yrs in max security, only to inflicts his crazy paranoid but guilty behavoir onto society. In one seen Mark shoots somebody offers them a cigarette and then takes that person to the hospital due to his own guilt.
In another scene Mark kills another criminal and gets away with it by claiming it was self defence. At some point Mark ends up back in prison where he writes a book about his experiences in the criminal world of Melbourne. The book becomes a best seller and makes Mark famous. There is a lil bit of artsy lighting and film techniques that gave the movie a real dirty feeling and a lil head turning like a dog.Even though Eric is playing a seriuos role some of his comedic back ground shines through in a dark way.

All the restaurants were full last night, so I took my wife to see 'a movie'. We ended up watching Dear John.

This movie had potential, but I think it was somewhat of a disappointment. The plot was strange, almost like someone just thought it up in about 10 minutes.

The military part was mostly realistic. I was in the Army and remember it that way.

I'd give it two stars out of five. **

Other people in the theater were clearly disappointed after it ended.

It was a sad movie. Some of it was predictable.

I'm thinking 2 stars out of five is a little generous, tho.

Wait for it on DVD. Yes, girls will like it.

Wolfman was "sleepy hollowed." If you saw burton's sleep hollow, you'll know what i mean. Sleepy Hollow had handsome production, good actors, interesting hues and shooting techniques. But it wasn't remotely scary. Burton turned the baddie into a sort of terminator. In my mind, the headless horseman is foremost an instrument of fear.

Same thing with Wolfman. Super strong, super fast, cartoonishly dangerous. But not scary. Disappointing.

I thought it was pretty good. It tries to be true to the original black and white. The father was not a werewolf though, like in the 2010 one. There's other plot differences, too.

I rather enjoyed the 2 South African pictures, District 9 (a Sci-Fi with some political commentary), and Invictus (sports film, rugby, with political overlay). I would comment in general that I have yet to see a Clint Eastwood directed film since Unforgiven which I have not enjoyed. Gran Torino won no awards, but was in the theatres for months and months (had "legs", as they say in the trade).

Wow, I actually liked this movie and found it pretty remarkable...

they dont standardized anything... if anything they made it a little more realistic..

would the part that ludacris been better if a white guy placed it? Probably not... or if the racist cop was black and feeling the black girl up? Probably not...

they made this movie realistic so Sdfaiderhater if there was a white gangster would you think it would be more realistic to place a hispanic or white or asia? because I think the rolls were casted good in this movie unless you wanna make it totally unoriginal....

We just saw The Hurt Locker.

This was not at all a feel good movie. The lives of members of an EOD team are traced while they are stationed in Iraq during the war.

Some of the situations seemed somewhat unrealistic, while others like defusing an artillery shell being used as an IED or interaction with the locals seemed believable.

Some older military equipment was used in the set, but that didn't take away from the realism.

I'll give it (3 1/2 to) 4 stars out of 5. ****

Being a rainy SoCal weekend, we watched another movie.

Almost every kid in the western world has read or had read to them Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak. The movie is is set in modern time, with a fantasy set which is true to the book. Max is played exactly as you would expect from the original story. As a younger sibling, he leaves the problems of his real life world by escaping into this fantasy world, where many of those same problems play themselves out.

I would give it three and a half stars out of five. ***^.

If this movie was more about flying and if the storyline was more believable, then it would have been a better movie. The protagonist needs to have some kind of flaw.

The producers were not very bold in this picture.

I took the ladies (wife and 3 girls) to see Alice in Wonderland. First thing is that the new 3D is amazing. I didn't expect it to be so clear and to not take away from the movie, but it delivered on most levels. They just need to make those glasses more comfy and I wouldn't have any complaints.

The movie is classic Tim Burton, warped characters, and "dark" and dreamlike settings. Being a boy, I couldn't tell you what the original movie was like, I knew the basic story behind the movie going in, but there were some parts of the story that were new to me. I didn't remember the Mad Hatter having such an intricate role.

Overall, very enjoyable, the 3D was cooler than expected, Burton made that Dark, Spooky, Fun world that he does, and that we love. Family with young girls rating- ****/*****

Although I'll bet the boys would like it just as much.
