Played for 2 years before high school and al but my senior year in high school. I was good, they said i would be the next Forest Vance (i guess he occupies a spot on greenbays roster or practice squad currently... havnt investigated) but I didnt enjoy the game. I knew that football wasnt for me when I didnt even enjoy playing games anymore... after all, football is so much work for just the one game per week, you had better love to play, which i didnt.

I played strong guard (Mr Vance's position) and Jet.

Even though they compared me to a NFL caliber (albeit backup or practice squad) it really wasnt true. I am only 5'10" 150 lbs. Its rather flattering, but obviously I could never have gone anywhere past high school in football anyway.

It is a great sport when you have the passion for it, which died in me. If you do love the game, it will teach you some great lessons and show you some great times as well. If you dont love it, dont play it.

I played 2 years, this year was my second, im a senior. I would have tried to play all four years but my dad is in the military so my freshman and sophomore years i was in Russia and my school didnt have a football team, go figure haha. Im in england right now and my high school has a team, and we play other american high schools over here in Europe. Its kinda gay because my school is the lowest division. so its cake for me. We were in the lowest division because there is only 197 kids in our school from 7th to 12th grade. i was the only senior on the team this year, and at 6'1 215lbs i was one of the biggest kids on the team so i ended up playing RT, DE, DT, LB, and Punter and i even got to run the ball one time on fake punt, i ended up gaining 37 yrds, then i tossed the ball over too our QB who followed me on the play almost like an option and he ended up gettin the score. i averaged 12 tackles and 2 sacks per game on defenseive line, i never allowed a sack on offensive line, and i was named all european punter averaging 39.7 yrds per punt. but this fall i am joining a local league team and am gonna be playing with adults so ill have some more competition. But high school ball was fun.
p.s a fun little tid bit , my sister also made the team at RG and after just one game earned the nick name "Cut Block Queen." We were playing the american high school from rota spain and she broke the home coming king's leg with a cut block when he blitzed, then she took his replacement out of the game as well. she is a beast haha.
p.p.s our Line coach is this amazing guy named Bob Shaw, he played on the All england team, coached the all england team, and he is a cop now. He is friens with a great guy named paul Johnson, his son has an interview with the chargers to be their equipment manager so that would be cool for me to know someone in the chargers organization.

Warhawks,

Played High School Football. Ran tailback in the Power I. Also played wide receiver and strong safety on defense. Defense was a lot of fun but I really like taking handoffs from the tailback position. My senior year (at Garner Senior in Garner, NC outside of Raleigh a ways) we went undefeated in the regular season at 11-0 and made it to the state 4A playoffs before losing to the eventual state champion that year (1975). We had a great conference and there were quite a few guys in my neighborhood and on my team that made it to the NFL out of that year.

After getting looked at by some small colleges ( as a 150 lb tailback and/or defensive back, I did not get a lot of looks from the major universities) , I decided to hang up the helmet and stay at home and go to work. Some years later I decided to goback to school at NCSU and I joined club Rugby team. and played for a couple of years. Lots of fun and memories.

I played quarterback at Orange Glen High unfortunately our football team was really bad. Most of the guys who joined OG high football team are mexicans and they have the average height of 5'5".

The only sport OG good at was basketball. I believe they went 2nd in Orange County that year.

wow thats racist, can i say that all asians cant see good enough to play football and thats why there are soo few??

OG sucked because the team sucked, Poway high( my school) sucked at football also, but thats because we had a revolving door coach. WE kicked everyones ass though when it came to wrestling.

I am a junior and i play WR on my team. Our team went undefeated last year.9-0 I also play corner. It was the last game of the saeson and we were down by 3. The other team was on the 6 yardline. My coach put me in as a corner(cause im so fast) to cover the other teams best WR. The other corner was comin in on a corner back blitz. Our coach played risky. He got to the QB and the qb just kinda lobbed the ball up as a last second desperation attept. Bad move! He threw it right to me. I picked it off and ran back all the way. It was a great ending to a perfect season.

It's the truth. I didn't say anything racist. It is the truth. Escondido is packed with 90%+ hispanic. OG is a highly educated high school; not a sport freaks school.

There is Dat Nguyen who is Middle Linebacker for the Dallas Cowboy.

The reason why there aren't many asian play sports because we are all busying bossing people around. Most rather make a lot of money through office jobs.

That is racist you p****. I'm not mexican myself (Asian, actually) but anyone with common sense knows that is racist. You are implying that because they are mexicans they're short and cannot play football? Wow, another great post by vietdunker!

While vietdunker's post was indeed racist, you shouldn't have fired back with another racist comment. So you're saying that Asians aren't fit to play football because of their small eyes? Both of you are racist p****s

I played two years of prep ball. Man I loved those days. I played OLB and FB. I wasn't the fastest guy or the biggest but I played with such intensity that rivaled Junior Seau. Unfortunately I tore the ACL in my left knee. I haven't played since. I guess you can say I live vicariously through other players with my sense of loyalty to the game. Donnie Edwards, Junior Seau, Ladainian Tomlinson are those whom I think play the game for what it truly is, a great game.

Amazing...I thought the first post was inflammatory enough...then you back it up with the "Asians are too busy bossing people around" comment.

I taught and coached in Santa Ana for 7 years and my basketball teams were always full of 6'+ Hispanics. I'm trying my best not to flame here, but it's difficult. Try to be a little more openminded and realize that Orange Glen might not be a perfect random sample of society. I'm not sure if you've ever heard Reggie White's speech to congress a few years back, but your sounding quite a bit like him....

Here is the part that got Reggie in hot water:

Well, it's interesting to me to know why now. When you look at the black race, black people are very gifted in what we call worship and celebration. A lot of us like to dance, and if you go to black churches, you see people jumping up and down, because they really get into it.

White people were blessed with the gift of structure and organization. You guys do a good job of building businesses and things of that nature and you know how to tap into money pretty much better than a lot of people do around the world.

Hispanics are gifted in family structure. You can see a Hispanic person and they can put 20 or 30 people in one home. They were gifted in the family structure.

When you look at the Asians, the Asian is very gifted in creation, creativity and inventions. If you go to Japan or any Asian country, they can turn a television into a watch. They're very creative. And you look at the Indians, they have been very gifted in the spirituality.

This is NOT a bash on Reggie...just wanted to point out how ridiculous it all seems.

i played in madison high school and i am currently freshman. i am one of most fastest d-lineman in san diego cuz most of other team that i have faced dont block my path very often. my team defense's inside is very powerful....almost impossible for offense to sneak out of inside defense. i play LB, and DE, DT, NT. i going to try out for fullback maybe even tackle cuz i have good legs and ability to block ppl who have good quickness sometimes. i have about 13 sacks last year and over 20 to 30 tackles against running back and blah. My team lost all games cuz my offense team collapsed and bad reciving crops but very soild running back but other team been watchin my running back CAREFULLY, if they dont....my running back will burn them. i lost all games except 4 games (not count cuz these 4 schools dont have freshmen team). also i am junior varsity team for some time and doing well. i weight 200 pounder, 6'1 foot tall and lifts 150 pounder right now (i need to lift more). but i am most fastest and unstopable d-lineman player also never offside.

also i shut down "inside" running game and make offensive line (mostly center and guards tired quickly)

Any of you guys who are still playing, enjoy it! I played my Freshman year back in '85 & then couldn't play my Soph. & Jr. years because I didn't take my schoolwork seriously. I then made some bad decisions, started drinking & never played another down in High School. Those decisions haunted me every year & drove me further into drinking & depression.

In 2002 my 1st son was born. And last year the oppurtunity arose for me to try out for a Semi-Pro team in my home town. (www.carolinatimberwolves.com, if you're interested) AT 34 years old & the fact that I haven't played in 19 years, most people thought I was nuts!! But I busted my butt training & made the team. To me this was an oppurtunity to correct my mistakes. Plus, there was no way that in the future I could look my son in the eyes & tell him he could do anything he wanted to in life when I didn't even try.

My 1st game, I d@mn near threw up I was so excited! My son was there watching me & after the game he took my hand & walked w/ me back to the locker room. That moment is irreplaceable!!

I tore my ACL about half way through the season, but I only missed one game & finished out the season because I loved it so much. I even caught my first TD pass! I had ACL reconstruction back in December & the rehab has been tough, but in a month (June 25) we have our first game & I'll be out there.

So for those of you still playing or anybody who's considering playing, go play. Enjoy your youth. It's a great life experience & you rarely get a chance to make it up. Don't be one of those guys like myself who in 10 or 15 years is sitting around on a barstool wondering "What if !?!"

Sorry, for the rant, but if it helps somebody that's what I wanted to do.

Been playing since 7th grade. Went from the worst player on the planet to starting receiver in high school in just 2 years. Now i'm a sophmore and probably gonna be starting at Free Safety this coming season as a junior. I had more picks alone than our entire varsity defense this past season (I had 6, the entire varsity had only 5). I'll probably still be used at reciever because i'm the tallest receiver/DB the roster at 6'3"1/2. Wish me luck, we play the second best team in the country in week 7, Mission Viejo high school.

4 years in high school and 2 years in college. They were alot of fun and if not for a serious neck injury I would have kept playing FB. It is great fun to see other people you have played with in the NFL and doing well. I always end up rooting for my old teammates and sometimes even when they play the Chargers. Although I do have an Alumni on the Chargers squad.

I know about Moline, he'll probably kill me but oh well. We have a pretty damn good RB ourself, PJ Vallier. If we had Mission Viejo's o-line PJ would be the best RB in the country.

okay guys, this is a huge long shot but...

has anyone heard of NorthWood hight school, there called the wolverines i believe, anyway my team flew down from Canada to play them, they beat us big time, but has anyone heard of them??

i dont know exactly where they were located, but we stayed at a hotel about a 10 minute walk from disneyland, and it was probly a 15 minute bus ride.

I played basketball and lifted weights in high school. I was a 5'8 pudgy little point guard that did OK for himself. I can still play basketball very well.....if I dont have to run AT ALL.

When I was in High School, the football players had first dibs on the weight room. The other students and athletes had to wait until after football practice was over to lift, and I lived out of town. I talked to the Superintendant and ended up writing a letter to the editor of the local newspaper about it before there was enough public outcry that many tax paying parents came to the school to attend a school board meeting and when all was said and done....We could lift any time we wanted to.

This did not endear me to the Football Coach and we didnt see eye to eye for the next 3 years....I never played high school ball....but I would have been a great linebacker!

haha, well were canadian, remember that

and are uprights are at the back of the endzone, and yours are in the front..so whenever are safeties saw the uprights they thought it was the back of the endzone..haha

and they had big linemen, and did tons of little screen plays

and on offence we(in canada) can have multiple people in motion, and we have 12 people on the field. it was hard to get used to the rules as a full team, but it was really fun, the people were really nice, except for all the questions about canadians :P

You can wear a black visor on your helmet if you can get a doctor to sign off for it. My friend just got a blue visor for this year but you don't need a doctor to sign off for you to wear it.

Hey whenever you get a chance check out the atlanta falcons roster for brandon heaney, He plays CB. The reason is he played QB at THHS and took us all the way through the first round of the cif playoffs where we eventually lost to bishop amot. It's real cool seein kids in high school make it to the pros. Did you ever play with john bagherly, QB? Good luck this year! i heard Mission viejo is the team to beat out there is this true? they sucked back in the day.

Ya. I played CB, S, WR, and Flanker.

Mostly CB though. I loved tricking QB's into thinking my assigned WR was open; watching the QB's eyes; and jumping the route as soon as he threw the ball for an INT. I also played rugby and baseball. I was the lead off batter and Center fielder.

Although I was quick for HS, I was in no way fast enough for college or big enough. I only weighed 150.

high school football was great. in small towns, 6 man football was played. there was no try outs, everyone made the team and thats what made it great, playing with your friends and having fun. my former high school team has a record 8 provincial titles, the last being 2002. i never played til 03-06. it was a blast, in 6 man, you could play anything you wanted almost.
