Horrible officiating, cheap chicken bleep low play by Kimo going for palmers knees.
if palmer plays cincy wins a blowout, but if my aunt had balls shed be my uncle. i hate watching games get changed by bad officiating ,and cheap/dirty plays that cause injuries.
pitt is starting to look like the raiders of the east, piss on pitt

I totally agree, that game solidified my intense dislike for the Steelers.

It wasn't a cheap play on Palmer. He was thrown into that knee. You didn't see after that play how he was dissappointed to see Palmer down? I've never seen a defensive player look pissed off for injurying the main reason the opposing team got to the playoffs.

I agree, it didnt look like he couldve done it on purpose if he tried. Its unfortunately the nature of the game. I still dont like the Steelers, and some (if not most) of their fans as well.

The Steelers are gonna get hammered by Indy (unless they can force Manning out of the game in the first quarter too.) Indy will get a lead and force Big Ben to throw, and like last year, it will not prove to be a good formula for Pitt. Indy's defense is also worlds better than Cincy's.

I cant believe people are even saying that.
He landed, reached out, grabed his leg, and PULLED.
he didnt even grab him around the knee. He grabbed him around the ankle. When he pulled it bent the leg in and the knee buckled.
That is what happened.

Seriously folks. Landru says you need to watch a tape of that one again.
You are totally off on what happened. The only part of the defenders body to touch his leg was his hand as he pulled his leg down.

It looked cheap to me too......He seemed mad afterwards , but it could have been an act. If Sean Taylor got kicked out of the game yesterday so should have at least 3 or 4 steelers especially the ones in the backfield. I like Troy he plays with fire , but he is one cheap SOB..... ;)

heres why its cheap
kimo knows he is almost on the ground. if he goes hard after the QBlike he did, kim oknows all he is gonna get is ankle or knee. He went hard at palmer, like he should, but he went up, not down for the ankle, or foot.
there is an unspoken rule in the nfl you dont go after a guys knees becasue that more thatn anythig can end, I said end youir career in a second.
cheap.....

No way he goes in with the intent to injure. His job is to get to the QB. He fought through/between two blockers, falling down as he did. Once he gets through while on the groung he grabs his foot which any defense Lineman is going to do. I bet he felt like crap. His reaction shows the the heart of a true competitor. IMHO He wants to play against the best.

So it was a cheap shot of Castillo on Big Ben in Week 5 then? Because it's literally the samething that happened.

you are on crack if you think that play by kimo was cheap, he was basically steered into palmer by his own lineman, if this had been chargers we'd be ALL over Leander Jordan right now haha

it's too bad it didn't show his reaction, that would also prove it wasn't a cheap shot.
what i'm starting to realize about this board is some of you posters are making excuses for something that doesn't go your way, and when someone proves you wrong you get all hysterical about it because you do no wrong yourself. i dont understand it.

dude it's a complex, most of my fellow fans i've noticed , blame officiating for everything , and cheapness for when other teams players do alot of the same things our players do
the funniest thing is following a gameday thread and seeing everything blamed on the refs only when we're losing
typical biased fans, they can only see what they want to see, even with video proof

Another thing that most people dont factor in is that von Oelhoffen played with the Bengals for 6 years. He still has friends on the team Im sure. You play with intensity and going after the QB is his job. The last thing he wants to do is hurt someone like that. The game moves so fast its not like you can control everything that happens, including where you fall and who you fall on.

I think that was cheap also.
Castillo looked up then Rolled over onto his leg.
Any time to have to take an extra action to get to a guys leg, and then take that action, after the pass is thrown, its Cheap

Yeah, I totally agreee. You could tell Kimo Von Oelhoffen was really mad at himself and situation the way he angrily smacked his hands together after Carson was on the ground for about 20 seconds. Not an in-your-face celebration clap, but one that looked like it would have been followed with a "Damn, I can't believe I screwed up this guy's knee."
I'm no Pitt fan, but Von Oelhoffen had suffered a knee injury himself and you saw the sincere concern in his reaction.
I certainly wouldn't call it a cheap shot.
Sucks for the Bengals and their fans though. I can only imagine what a let-down that was for them after all these years of waiting.

The only way it's cheap is if he had some sort of foreknowledge of exactly when Palmer is going to throw it, because he's already falling in that direction before Palmer enters his throwing motion. If Palmer didn't throw it, then it would not have been a side knee impact, probably just would've knocked him over.
To be honest, I would've given the advantage to Pitt even without the Cincy injuries.

Look at 55's left hand, it's in the motion of THROWING him into the ground. Jesus christ.

Personally, i believe it was a dive at the knees, and his reaction was that of crap, i really hurt him bad.
If anything the replay shows that the guy moved his right arm across the body of the guy blocking him and dove at the lower leg, the guys that was blocking him seems like he was in a semi hold and let go of him when he dove.
I dont think there was intent to injure, as witnessed by his reaction, but to me, it seems he clearly dove at the lower leg area.

Steelers' von Oelhoffen Apologizes for Injuring Palmer
By ALAN ROBINSON (AP Sports Writer)
January 9, 2006
CINCINNATI (AP) - Pittsburgh Steelers defensive lineman Kimo von Oelhoffen spent half his NFL career playing in Cincinnati and still has great affection for the Bengals and the town.
No wonder he doesn't want to spend the next nine months being the city's most disliked man.
Von Oelhoffen's unintentionally firm tug on quarterback Carson Palmer's left knee during the Bengals' second play of the game Sunday put Palmer out with a serious injury and affected the course of the Steelers' 31-17 victory.
Afterward, von Oelhoffen apologized to Palmer, his family and the Bengals' fans, saying no player ever wants to hurt another.
'Yeah, I hate to see that happen to any player,' von Oelhoffen said. 'I don't think anybody on this team would intentionally do something like that.'
As Palmer lay on the turf before being taken off on a cart, several Bengals players could be seen yelling toward the Steelers' huddle. But von Oelhoffen said he didn't hear any remarks directed toward him, and at least one Bengals player - Pro Bowl tackle Willie Anderson - defended him after the game.
'I know Kimo. He's not a dirty player,' Anderson said of von Oelhoffen, who played for the Bengals from 1994-99 before moving to Pittsburgh for the chance to become a starter. 'Guys were infuriated, but your first reaction is to defend your player. It wasn't a dirty play.'
Von Oelhoffen said the injury - Palmer tore at least one ligament - affected his own play for at least a quarter.
'I'm not gonna lie, it affected me a little bit,' von Oelhoffen said. 'That kid deserved a shot to play in this game. It's always horrible when somebody gets hurt. We're all football players - we're together, we compete against each other, but we're together.'
Asked what he was trying to do on the play, von Oelhoffen said, 'Sack the quarterback. What else?'
Von Oelhoffen said he didn't personally apologize to Palmer because he didn't see him after he left the field.
'How would it affect you if you had just torn one of the most promising quarterback's knees out? You do not like to see that happen. But he'll rebound,' von Oelhoffen said. 'He's young and he's going to be around for a long time. ... I hope he gets better because he's a great player.'
What several Steelers disliked was the insinuation that the injury greatly influenced the game, and that they needed something like that to win in Cincinnati, where they have won five of their last six.
'I'm not going to sit here and let that be a reason to spoil our victory, Carson not playing,' linebacker Joey Porter said of the Steelers' 14th victory in 17 road games over the last two seasons. 'This is the NFL and people get hurt; it's not the first time someone's got hurt in a game. We've had people get hurt all year. You take your wounds and keep on ticking.'
The Steelers played four games without their own starting quarterback, Ben Roethlisberger, with two knee injuries, and left tackle Marvel Smith also missed substantial time.
'We came away with a victory. If Palmer had played, I think the same thing would have happened,' Porter said.
Even if Bengals wide receiver Chad Johnson didn't agree after being held without a touchdown by Pittsburgh for the third time this season.
Asked if the Steelers were better, he said, tersely for a player who often is one of the most talkative in the league: 'No.'

It wasn't intentional to injure Palmer, everyone needs to get over it and stop being a cry baby about it, this is rediculous, I thought San Diego fans were BETTER than this?

I for one never said he did, what i did say was that he dove at the legs, heck, even Kimo says he did as much when he said this.
Asked what he was trying to do on the play, von Oelhoffen said, 'Sack the quarterback. What else?'
Even he acknowledges that he went after Palmer, but his action had the terrible consequence of hurting, unintentional as it was, that was the end result.

It's every defensive end's job to sack the QB, what I'm referring to when I say 'I thought SD fans were better than this' are those that are saying 'he did it on purpose, Cincy would've won if he didn't' etc. I find those statements to be rediculous.
