...both have bandaged noses after Sunday's NFL Conference playoffs. Plummer and DelHomme will have a loooooonnnnnnnggggg offseason to seek professional psychiatric help and begin to repair their damaged egos. Can they come back? Will they be back to post-season next year?

Discuss.

Egos? They were probably two of the quietest qb's in the league.

Ya both of them should be back in the playoffs next year.

Delhomme will be fine. He has been to the big game, I dont think this loss will linger in a negative way for him: Plumber on the other hand.....

I disagree (^) I believe Plummer has a chance to reedeem himself in the probowl, and will because the AFC will most certainly have a lead by the time he comes out and he can show off his mobility. Plummer's never cared what anyone thinks of him, and he tries to improve himself, only so he can keep his job. He'll be back same as always, perhaps the confidence his teammates have in him will dissipate, but he doesn't care about that either.

Delhomme, on the other hand has always had confidence in himself and his ability. He takes great pride in being able to lead his offense, and his performance yesterday only hurts his raport with that group, I don't know if he can recover mentally, I think he wants to, and I'm sure his talent is still the same, but I don't know if he's the same.

Jake Delhomme had a bad day, which he has from time to time. He is probably one of the more underrated QB's in the league. I wanted the Panthers to go to the Super Bowl, but it just wasnt in the cards. I think he will rebound and make it to the playoffs next year, but will falter somewhere around the AFC Championship game again.

Now Jake Plummer? I dont think he will be back to the playoffs next year. Not necessarily because of him though. I think with the salary cap woes they wont be the same next year.

Its our year!!

I can't take anything away from Plummer. He put up a valiant fight, but Pitt's game plan was executed to perfection, i.e., put up an early lead so that Plummer would feel compelled to "make the big play" and then keep the consistent pressure so that when he tried for the big one, he was rushed into bad decisions. Unfortunately for Jake, this plays right into the "Plummer Meltdown" hype. I think Denver will have a hard time making a run back to the playoffs next year.

DelHomme had some throws that looked like he was changing his mind at the time of release--just floating up there for the pick. He was flustered badly and showed his frustration on the sidelines. He just didn't look like the Superbowl DelHomme of the past. Carolina will also have a hard time of it next year.

I think Delhomme had his work cut out for him, though - if they blanket Steve Smith then who the hell else is he going to throw to. JD also has gotten into the habit of chucking it up there and hoping Smith will come down with it - most of the time it pays off, but it's not going to work when they double and triple cover the guy.

Jake the Fake, on the other hand, kept trying to do too much last night. I cant believe he threw that interception before th half when he had a man w-i-d-e open in the flats. It's that kind of decision making that has haunted him his whole career, and I don't see it changing before he's done.

It's like a little voice in his head says "you are Jake Eltana - the genetically engineered lifeform created by fusing the best bits of John Elway and Joe Montana - you can do anything!"

He usually runs out of talent the moment he starts believing that voice!

I don't think the Donks will be in it next year. They're going to have to play a first place schedule, and I would say that there are only around 6 games that they can expect to win. For them to make it they have to beat Pitt, NE, the Chiefs and Chargers Away, and Chiefs, Chargers, Seattle, Indy, Baltimore, and Cincy at Home. I would be surprised if they didn't lose 1/4 to 1/2 of their home games, because except for Baltimore, all of these games are going to be shootouts, and I don't think the Donks can win a shootout.

We need to worry more about the Chiefs next year than the Broncos.

I was elated that Jake (Plummer)finally came around to his old self. I'd been waiting for that all season, and he saved the best (worst) for last!!! Pittsburgh deserves all the credit for a flawless game, about the best I've seen a playoff team play, especially on the road. I believe it's their year. I think Seattle will have the "1994 Chargers" mentality about being glad to be in it for the first time.

Thanks Jake, you made my weekend!!! and get a haircut and a shave you hillbilly!

The Jakes will return. They are good quarterbacks and the experience can only help them. Jake Delhomme threw off target yesterday and it's difficult to move an offense when your primary target was targeted with 1-1 / zone and bump coverage throughout the game. Steve Smith had an amazing playoff performance but like LT he could use help.

Jake Plumber made some costly errors. Pittsburgh is tough to beat when have a lead. Remember the Humphries led comback during the AFC championship game? They come few and far between...the Steelers are tough team and deserve to move on. Jake had his opportunity to redefine himself and didn't quite make it. He has the respect of his teammates and I think he will back next year leading the Broncos to of course 3rd place in the AFC West.

I thought Plummer showed better effort than Delhomme. I guess I kind of feel bad because everyone was waiting for him to make a mistake (including me) and he really wasn't THAT bad (against the Pitts' defense? I've seen worse *coughPeytoncough*). And he did try to redeem himself for his team by avoiding all those sacks & creating opportunities for his receivers to make big plays. Delhomme looked like he had given up.

Man some of you guys are haters.....Jake D was screwed from the first quarter when he lost his 3rd option at RB....With no running game there is not much you could do.....Seahawks were mixing playing the pass and blitzing hard ....The Panthers O-line had a horrible game....Same with the Donkey's their protection sucked.....Now the thing with the donkey's is that they were running the ball with Anderson real well and whoever called the plays messed up , because the running game with Anderson was working....They felt the need to go with Bell (who sucks) and have Jake start passing....Niether QB did good , but it is not all their fault either, niether D played well and the protection sucked.....Play Calling for the DOnkey's was horrible.

I would like to thank the denver broncos for representing the AFC West the way they did yesterday. One big reason why I hate them as much as the Raiders!!! They are pure trash and Jake is a fluke!!!

The broncos pass protection was pretty terrible, they had no answer for Pittsburgh's blitzs (WADE PHILLIPS PLEASE TAKE NOTE).

The Pittsburgh blitzes only work because their secondary manages to remain in tight coverage for that extra second. Their play has gone largely unnoticed due the outstanding play of the Pittsburgh front 7 and troy 'big play' palomalu. i don't think i can count more than 3 plays where a receiver caught a ball without a DB less than a step away. Even the big plays made by Ashley Lelie for the TD, the Rod Smith and Putzier catches were made with the DBs all over them. If only the chargers can get that type of secondary play from our DBs.

Repair their damaged egos?

They were playing in the Divisional Championships. We were not.

Maybe we should be talking about OUR damaged egos lol.

That's not to say that I like them. But don't take anything away from Plummer's season. He didn't play well when it counted, but neither did we!

But what does that have to do with anything. All this means is they can share a couch with some Chargers players for the Super Bowl.

I've heard you say a number of times that it's all about post-season and the regular season is meaningless in terms of importance to a franchise. A great season means nothing unless you carry that success into the playoffs.

Was that only in regard to coaching or does it apply to players too?

Sounds like you're working both sides of the street.
