I know he was a first rounder and that LT smoked him in the preseason, which I can't really fault him for. Other than that I've never really singled him out and watched him. Does anyone have any better info?

How is he in coverage? I heard he was pretty good against the run. Seems like he'll probably be an improvement over Kiel.

I think Kiel is actually better in coverage than Archuleta. I don't think Archuleta is what we are looking for. We need some to help us out in coverage and that can hit hard. We need someone like palumalo, ed reed, harrison, roy williams, we need a big playmaker in our secondary.

Roy Williams is probably the worst safety for coverage. He is worst then Kiel. I think we can skate by with Kiel another year but we need a ball hawk FS.

Jue looks to be that. He played outstanding up until the game after the eagles. I think Jue is fine. We need a SS who is a ballhawk because kiel cannot match up vs a TE a headhunter would be fine as well so long as he breaks up passes.

ACCTUALLY, JUE STUNK UP EVERY GAME HE PLAYED THIS SEASON, HE STUNK FOR GREEN BAY AND WITH US TOO. I THINK HEART DID A GREAT JOB

I know roy sucks in coverage, but he is a playmaker, if its a hit or an interception, he makes his presence known, he is an icon in the NFL. That is what we need, we need a playmaker that will make his presence known consistently. We need a big name in our backfield to scare offenses. W/ that said, I would like to see Clinton Hart and Michael Huff as our safeties next year. Micheal Huff fits that mold perfectly and we should do anything possible to draft huff.

Jue did a pretty good job...could be better but he made plays. I would definatley take a upgrade at that position, but not Jue will do. Hart* did play well too, I like him.

Hart is ok.. But we need... a GOOD safety... Hope or the guy from the panthers would be a nice FA pick up... then draft HUff or Ko!

I wouldn't put Ko in at FS, I'd keep him at SS and let him roam over the middle and flow to the ball or use him to cover TEs. Something else that might help us out would be if Merriman improved his coverage skills so that we could confuse the O-Lines of our opponents, showing blitz and dropping back or playing off a little and then coming in. having complicated zone blitz packages is what the 3-4 is all about, and having players that can blitz and cover improves the defense immensely. I think Jue has played well, but we asked him to make a big jump from what he did at GB, and I think he handled it well. He's really fast and quick and having him over the top with Ko underneath in cover three would be rediculous.

Jue did a great job. And Hart did a good job filling in for Kiel, not Jue. Jue gave us INTs early, and thats something we didn't get the rest of the season, after he went down.

Look I like KO now too... But only moves that matters right now is OLINE... think about it... We had bad turnovers... sacks... no Running game in a lot of games... and it wasnt the best RB in the leagues fault.... If we get 25% better on our Oline we will rock next year... Our D will only keep gettting better... as LT said on the ESPN show the other day... they need to play together... same for brees and his WR... they need timing and trust...

One easy solution, move Jammer to SS! Jammer has decent coverage and is a hard-hitter. What do you guys think?

Jammer hits hard but he actually is a really good corner, we need to get him some safety help though. I agree that the Offensive Line should be our first priority... in Free Agency. The top two tackles are off the board by pick 19 but the number 5, 6, and 7 guys (and there are 7 top tackles this year) are still there at pick number 51 (thats our second rounder for those that can't add 19 to 32). Safetywise, we can get one of the top 2 or 3 DBs in the draft this year (and they are good) at number 19 or we can slide all the way down to more of the same crap in the secondary.

Archuletta is known for being a guy that's like a range roving linebacker at Strong Safety. He can be a top safety against the run. I kinda think of him as a poor man's Rodney. He can hit, but (like the younger Rodney), he isn't exactly reliable in coverage. he also isnt nowhere near an intimidator that Rodney is. I thinl we need FS help (a cover safety), before we replace Kiel. Maybe a SS next year if Kiel doesn't step his game up.

Why? Jammer is our best corner. Your not the first one to suggest this either. Jammer stays put.

Our FS is ok. Jue was good, but after the eagles game he started to fade away. Cut him so slack, it was his first year to actually play on position for an entire year.

I honestly think the problems were more on offense than on defense. I know what the numbers were that we scored the 3rd most points or something close to that and our pass defense was real poor even with a good pass rush. But I believe a lot of that had to do with the constant opportunties our offense was giving up. Along with a poor year from an injured edwards. But mostly that our offense did not capitalize when it should have. Our defense always had its back against the wall after so many stops. I would be willing to bet we had the most defensive stops when allowing our opponent to start on our side of the field. In the games we won the offense was affective and that allowed the defensive stops to mean something. Fix the O-line it opens up the run and thus puts less pressure on the defense and our pass defense numbers would be way up there.

I thought so too... but not true... OT is top heavy... top 2 rounds... CB is bottom....through 4-5 rounds... so we need to take OT/G/C in the first 60 picks...

OT is not top heavy at all. Having 7 good picks available at one position in a draft where we get two picks in the top 51 puts us in a good position to get a quality tackle in the second.

DB is top heavy, with only 3 top picks that will all be gone in the first round.

Great Guards will be available in the 3rd.

We can hit all three of our draft needs in the first 3 rounds, and hit them with really good players if we draft smart, that is to say, if we draft S then T then Guard.

That's dependent on whether or not Ko Simpson, Michael Huff, or Jimmy Williams is available at 19 though.

what's the deal with Archuletta............He's too old! Past his prime! had his year two years ago! Clinton Hart is resigned and we will draft a new safety to fill the other spot!

Archuletta is a seasoned vet with great skills and talent, if he came in I think he could not only make a difference but lead our secondary, and one think they lack is leadership. Jue was supposed to take over that role but he didn't. This would be a great pickup.
