Since Denver is projected to be around 30 million dollars over the salary cap, it's likely they will have to restructure alot of contracts/ cut some big salary guys, especially if they're going to try to sign T.O.
If Denver can't resign two of it's soon to be free agents, Matt Lepsis(LT) and Tom Nalen(C), should we try to pick either of them up???

i don't like Denver O-Linemen. personally, there have been too many rumors over the years of Denvers linemen taking cheapshots.:Bolt:

Nalen has already signed a multi year extention.
Nalen Signs Extension -- Wednesday, February 1, 2006 (http://www.denverbroncos.com/page.php?id=334&storyID=5303)
The Broncos and center Tom Nalen both got what they wanted -- a contract extension to keep the 12-year veteran as the anchor of the team's offensive line.
As far as Lepsis I just wonder how many years he has left. He is already 32. If Oben does not come back then maybe have him around for 1-2 years.

well... if they signed Nalen, they must be ditching Lepsis... I'd play him for 2 years while we groom a franchise LT.

What about Oben?

I'm starting to get the impression that Oben's foot injury might keep him sidelined for part of next season.

Denver's lineman are a product of their system. I don't know how'd they perform without the zone-blocking scheme.

Lepsis plays solid. Who knows, we definately need experienced players at O, and it never hurts to steal division players.

He obviously is not going to be getting the money ol Hutch is going to get. I think he will make a good fit, I wouldnt mind it.

Me either. Not only that, he'd have the secrets of Denver's O-Line so we can sack Jake even more! :D

The Chargers would need to get three new starters. Goff, Oben and Dielmann wouldn't be able to do it (along with most of the backups).
The zone blocking system requires smaller and more mobile (and willing to cheap shot) o-linemen. As an added bonus, the zone blocking scheme struggles mightily protecting the QB in the pocket. Big d-linemen push the o-linemen into the QBs lap. Rollout passing that cuts down half of the area where Brees can pass the ball would have to replace Cam's current scheme.
It's not an easy switch. It would take a couple of seasons minimum to implement, and I'm not willing to write off a couple of years myself.
Bring in a solid vet LOT in free agency, slide Oben to RT and move Olivea into a guard position. And, of course, add to the depth. IMO That's a much simpler solution to the o-line dilemna.

Well, I guess cheap-shot zone blocking would be a bad idea. Oh well, I just thought that maybe since Lepsis seemed to play well for the Donks that he might be an answer if he isn't resigned. At any rate, Backus is still my top choice...
