This is from John Clayton of ESPN. There are some very interesting names on this list that may be casualties of the salary cap this year. Quite a few o-lineman this year.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2341755

ones I like if we can't get all the #1's on my list: Bentley, Jurevicious, Clements (who's already been tagged).
Jeno James (ol) Miami - could add depth, he played great for them this year.
Sam Madison or Troy Vincent (cb) - Troy has slowed but I've always liked his play though. He'd definitely be an improvement over our corners now, but there's better ones out there for us I think.
Rodney Harrison (s) - bring the hitter back to SD
Duane Starks (cb) - could provide depth as a punt returner also.
Eric Moulds (wr)
Mike Williams (ol)

Mike Williams and Eric Moulds would both be great assets...but would Buffalo release both of them?

Mike is gone already and Moulds is good, but is over 30

Mike looks like a dud. Went ahead of Jammer, and he's moved from RT to LT to guard. Maybe under a disciplinary coach he'd succeed. Our O-Line coach is one of those guys...but don't get 'em.

I forgot the Bills moved him to FS. He was a CB his entire career with Miami and Philadelphia. He was in 5 straight Pro-Bowls at CB with the Eagles before he went to Buffalo and moved to safety...my bad!!

who knows what will happen to free agency and the salary cap after this year. A big flare up with the CBA has come up. Owners that don't get any revenue because they don't know how to market correctly are complaining because owners like Dany Snyder have so much. So its all really up to the main owners and if they sign the new deal. But after this year and they don't sign there may be no salary cap. But Im not 100% on any of this so if you know something about ti lpease inform me.

It's going to get done. No way you let this interfere with the best thing going on in the United States. The NFL is bigger than anything out there. Are you Ready?

Anyone from KC look appealing? Wesley or Woods? Barber?

I would not mind picking up Kendrell Bell from KC if he is let go. He was verry good in the Steelers 3-4 but average in KC's 4-3. He is young and talented. He could be our replacement for Donnie or Godfrey.

Reportedly there are nine big-revenue owners who are banded together and determined to keep their current unshared revenues to themselves under a new CBA. If one of them defects, then that would break the logjam because a 24-8 vote will meet the 3/4 level needed for the owners to approve a new CBA.

However, Daniel Snyder is in a "Catch 22" situation. If he sticks to the "Gang of 9" in regard to the revenue sharing issue, he'll have to blow up his 2006 Redskins squad due to the smaller salary cap and narrower contract restrictions on players' contracts in an uncapped season.

Look for a deal to get struck at the last minute and for the 2007 season to have a salary cap.

It's going to be an interesting situation with the Redskins this offseason. I was reading an article on CBS sportline that said if the Redskins cut everyones salary to the veteran minimum, that they still would be 4 million dollars over the cap. Someone or more than a few good players are going to be cut to make it under the cap.

I think Samuels is gone. And I'm not convinced Gibbs is high on Arrington. One may be gone, or maybe both. We could look at either of those two as possible future starters.

Wow there are allot of big names on the list. We should get jimmy Smith. That would put "thunder and lightning" back together again. He could help teach and also contribute in the recieving game.

Is Joe using profootballtalk.com as a source!!?!?!? I never thought I'd see the day. I love pft, by the way, even if he's not always right. He's always on the ball with cap and CBA issues, though.

Snyder will snap. He will realize how it could wash his season away...if he's smart, which he hasn't show a couple of times :)

Washington is definately in a catch 22 situtation. Releasing just LaVar Arrington will cause an 11 mil cap hit for this year.

i believe snyder will snap as well.. the redskins are the most valuable team in american sports today according to forbes... i think he'd lose more money if he couldn't keep a competitive team on the field... which would be the issue if no cba was reached... given that the redskins are already in cap hell..

Washington Redskins NFL Daniel Snyder $1.1 billion Dallas Cowboys NFL Jerry Jones $923 million Houston Texans NFL Robert McNair $905 million New England Patriots NFL Robert Kraft $861 million Philadelphia Eagles NFL Jeffrey Lurie $833 million and down below...
San Diego Chargers NFL Alex Spanos $622 million an idea of what the very bottom looks like...
Montreal Expos MLB Major League Baseball $108 million Ottawa Senators NHL Eugene Melnyk $95 million Calgary Flames NHL Limited Partnership $94 million Buffalo Sabres NHL NHL $92 million Edmonton Oilers NHL Edmonton Investors Group $86 million

Today the bills released DT Sam Adams to save cap space. His salary in 2006 was to be $3.5 mil. I think it would be a good thing to bring him in to spell Jamal on 3rd down and have some depth at nose tackle. He knows the 3-4 well and I think we could lure him with the San Diego discount.

I am just looking out there and salivating at the Oline and Dline cuts all these teams are forced to make.

Chargers are in a position to pounce on some really good Oline starters as well as some quality depth at many a position...this year (if the bargaining agreement is reached or not) we could start to lay that foundation for years of dominance!

The League is not going to move the FA date back either from what I understand, so it appears those teams well over the salary cap are starting their slashing now. Denver releasing Trevor Pryce is intriging in a 3-4, and he may add depth. thoughts???

OL and S. There are alot of them going to be available. Then in the draft, take the best available. Either S,CB,DE,OL,ILB,PR/WR.

Jets center Kevin Mawae's agent, Mark Bartelstein, said he was informed yesterday by GM Mike Tannenbaum that the club likely will part ways with the six-time Pro Bowl center. Mawae's situation apparently goes beyond money. At 35, recovering from a torn triceps, he doesn't fit into new coach Eric Mangini's rebuilding plan.

Is anyone else as excited as I am about the AFC West this year?

We're the only team that won't have to make drastic cuts to get under the salary cap, and the only one who can afford to pick up some quality free agents. Oakland is 26 mil over, and KC is 11 mil over, and Denver I believe is right at the line, but ESPN has it rumored they're going to cut more people to try to pick up John Abraham, that will suck up their remaining money.

We can dominate this division this year even with a rookie QB, and we may even be using some of their cap casualties in the process, (Will Shields?). I think this CBA thing was a huge blessing for us, because we're one of the few teams that are already contenders, and are under the cap. The other teams well under the cap need a lot of work, AZ, SF, Green Bay.
