:Helmet: :Football: On another thread I noticed something about Rodney maybe getting released. Any chance of bringing him back and do you think he will retire a charger or a patriot, (Hopefully Charger).

PLEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSE let that be true!!!! RH has been my favorite Bolt of all time. How great would that be to have the intimidator back in the fold?

What thread did you see that?

Oh my God that would be incredible if we could bring Rodney back to retire a Charger.

Any chance of bringing him back and do you think he will retire a charger or a patriot, (Hopefully Charger).I don't think there's a chance, but... That would be awesome! If he comes back the Chargers would have to at least win a Superbowl with him for him to consider retiring as a Charger.

Rodney already has 2 rings, coming back to San Diego ould probably just be more of a sentimental thing, which I would have no problem with.

But who kicked him out of SD to begin with? If it ws Marty...I don't see him coming back. If it was Butler, he passed away. Interesting to see if he actually does want to come back.

Even though he is injured I see no reason why the Patriots would release him. I'm not sure how many years he has left in him but if he could still play at the same level as he did for the PAtriots recently then I'm all for bring him in IF he's released.

Rodney Harrison has won three superbowls in NE. If he's going to retire anywhere it will be there. Unfortunately. :-/

w superbowls actually, he was with us in 01. Rodney was drafted by us and spent 9 wonderful years here, however, the SB may push him to a patriot.

The Pats don't have serious cap problems and have serious secondary issues. Why would they be releasing Rodney?

Could it be due to the fact that the 33 year old former Charger great shredded his anterior cruciate ligament, medial collateral ligament and posterior cruciate ligament in his knee last October?

Is he running yet? How has his rehab gone?

A sentimental re-signing I can see. Or a minimum salary contract. The Pats are looking to win a Super Bowl and wouldn't be releasing Rodney if they thought he could help them get another ring.

How does releasing Rodney have anything to do with that?

It would create about 1.5 in cap space to be able to help sign someone I guess. I'm not sure about that one either.

They do have some secondary problems but they also released CB Duane Starks and freed up around 5 million with that one. Anyway, it's only a rumor about them releasing Harrison. Depending on who they may sign or draft there are rumors CB Tyrone Poole is on the outs possibly too. It could've been said that one of their 4 secondary guys would go and then releasing Starks satisfied that one.

He was listed on possible cap casualties on an ESPN link someone posted in another thread.

I'd love to see the hitman back in bolts, mostly for sentimental reasons. Anyone other than Rodney and I'm saying "What about the knee?" all the way, but you gotta love Harrison.

Our Charegers need a free safety, cover guy some one to get over and break up the bomb that Ferrote threw to Chambers to stone Chargers 05 season. For example Wilsons help in endzone against Donkeys to win afc west in 04. Hope or Huff in 06. Might really solidify a better than average defense. Rodney is a strong safety. A great one. Charger brass really screwed up that one!

I thought Kiel was strong in his rookie campaing. Let's HOPE (pun intended) we can chalk last year's sub-par performance up to a "Sophomore Slump".

Actually, it was his "junior season", Matt. His first season was slowed by the gunshot wound before training camp, but he played in all 16 games in 2003.

Touché. Let's cut him! :D

I think Kiel can be a player in this league, I really liked what he did the first TWO seasons. Last year, he seemed to disappear back there. We can't afford a safety that disappears. We need a guy to get in some grills and bring that "swagger".

I like Kiel too. He is the best tackler we have in the secondary and that is the main job of a strong safety. Unlike many others I don't think that interceptions are everything. Strong safeties need to be tacklers and free safeties can be coverage guys.

You're right on the money when you brought up his first two seasons. He made some big plays down the stretch and definitely contributed. Last year he was injured for a large portion of the season and I believe his presence would have changed the outcome of some of the closer games.

Good point, but when by week 14 you have one CB with one interception, one safety with three interceptions and another with one, there is issues there. I believe we must use Kiel alot to maintain our run D, but he is not a great cover SS. Take him out on passing downs but leave him in for running downs, I guarantee that the Larry Johnson game in week 16 would have been different if Kiel did not have an ankle injury.

hey am I the only one who had a problem with RH back in the day when he would have been suspended for 1/2 a season if he had 1 more leading with the helmet hit?

if I remember right he was to receive 7 million that year and with one more penalty he would have been suspended for 1/2 a season? thats 3.5 million for sitting on the bench?

he was let go, and NObody wanted him, it took six and half months before NE took a chance, yes a chance, the head coach of NE even said he talked with Rodney and Rodney understood the consequences of being suspended.

So IMO he realized that his style of play had to change a little, for some reason it never got thru his head here that thats what needed to happen. and by doing so he became a better player.

maybe that all came with maturity but he had to be let go, and really he fell into a system that was working very very well with out him.

anyway that all being said, Rodney was the man while he was here, I hated to see him go, but nderstood the decision for him to leave as well as Seau, who was as much as a problem as any on the defense.

late.......
