The Bills recently released OT Mike Williams. He is a former top 5 pick, and I think we could pick him up and put his talent to use. He didnt perform well in Buffalo, and had some injury trouble. And I'm all for second chances, look at Courtney Brown on the Broncos, he's doing good now.

Ehh...Williams hasn't really found a position yet. The Bills tried him out at RT, then LT, then LG. If he signed real cheap, I'd consider it. I think we'll go tackle in one of the first two rounds of the draft, so that's another reason I don't think we'll sign him.

I don't think we should sign him. Olivea is a good RT and it looks like they are going to bring in Lecharles Bently to play guard and will probably draft a tackle for the future. Plus we got Lekerkerker waiting to get a shot.

If Bentely want's to play c than that 's where he's gonna play. All this talk about him moving to guard is a liitle pre-mautre.

I agree, I don't think Bentley wants to move back to Guard, I believe he has stated he wants to continue to play Center. I would love it if he came along and was happy to go to LG though!!! :)

You know the last time he went to the PB, he went as a guard. The talk isn't premature.

He's been quoted saying he want's to play C, and if I can remember the damn link i'd post it.

Here's a link but he's not actually quoted in this one. I've seen the quote a number of times myself. I just happened to be on this site today.

I say he is worth signing for preseason competition to see if he really wants to compete and play.

I would not mind signing him. He is a good run blocker and is HUGE. Let him compete and provide depth if nothing else.

What does anybody think about putting Williams at RT and moving Olivea to LT? Shane may need to shave a few pounds and get lighter on his feet but he's not too far away from being an elite tackle in this league and an elite tackle needs to play an elite position, like LT.
Williams is STILL really raw but has a huge ceiling. Like Brown in Cleveland, I'de sign him cheap, add insentives and see what he could do at RT. If all else fails look to the draft. If we could get Bent and Williams I'm not sure we should go after OL until the 3rd or 4th round. This would give us a huge chance of drafting a S in round 1, possibly get Simpson. That would be GREAT!

Yeah we could get him...just those injury probs are the only thing i worry about..besides that...what harm could it do?

Olivea is a guard except for us NEEDING him to play RT...there no way he could play LT.

Olivea has done an admirable job at RT, but I love the Chargers to be able to move him to guard and upgrade at RT. I'm not sure Mike Williams is that guy but if he could learn to pass blocker better he'd make a great RT. He's still young and just needs to get motivated. Maybe coming to SD with a chance to compete at RT with a clean slate is what he needs.
