FoxSports article about his release claims he has been injured a lot. so even at a cheap price do we really want to pick him up ??

well: if you use him in 3rd down situations until he shows that he can actually play a majority of the game, I say go for it.

Depends on his price. I dont know though, were not in desperate need of him.

I liked the guy when he was with the Ravens, but the lasting image I have of him are the Patriot game last year, where he kept getting beat by our WRs.

This pretty sums up Starks for me:

Belichick Invents Injury For Player He Doesn’t Like
FOXBORO, MA--Bill Belichick doesn’t like cornerback Duane Starks, so he decided to get rid of him the best way he knew how: by putting him on the injured list with a shoulder injury. Starks was surprised by the move, since his shoulder actually feels fine. “I’m not hurt at all. I feel great,” Starks told reporters on Monday. “I think coach Belichick just put me on the injured list because he doesn’t like the way I’ve been playing. He came up to me after the Colts game and just said ‘Starks, you’re going on the injured list. You’re shoulder hurts. Now get out of my sight.’ And that was it. I’m not even allowed in the locker room anymore.”

Good point, he did have some good years with the ravens. Maybe he is worth taking a look at.

Ty Law would be a good pick up. He is a one of the best in the game and hopefully can rub some off on our guys.

He would also contribute towards a lot of pass interference calls, which we are already too high on.

We don't need an underachieving injured db...dont you think there is a problem when you talk about his best games being in the past?

Chargers need depth in the secondary and getting a veteran cheaply would be a great thing for back up and to help the younger players along.

Another good point in that Starks would be a low budget addition to the team. But how about the Chargers trying to sign someone like Adam Archuleta or Corey Chavous, two good UFA's. And another FA that caught my eye is Will Allen, had a good year at CB, plus was / is a good KR.

I think there is a better chance for AJ to take a small risk on a player, or players, like Starks, than his spending a ton of money on an aging Ty Law. Bobby Beathard was willing to take more gambles than AJ. AJ wants bang for the buck, and that makes sense to me. If Beathard was here, I think he would be willing to give Drew a guaranteed contract, even without knowing when, or if, Drew can throw again. I realize Drew almost assuredly will be able to play again, just not when.

While I am mentioning Drew -- I realize AJ is his own man. However, am I the only one who thinks the Spanos' have provided input on whether or not to guarantee Drew's 2006 salary?
