View Full Version : Seattle letting Alexander walk?
As of right now both Drew Brees and Shuan Alexander have 3 Days and 12 Hours left to re-sign with their respective teams.
Potential suitors for Alexander have ranged from Arizona all the way to Indianapolis (even though Indy probably would not have the cap room) and even New England.
Thoughts?

Carolina is the darkhorse in the Alexander race. Close proximity to Alabama (don't know if that matters) and Steve Smith was courting him the whole time at the Pro Bowl.

I remember Alexander talking about Smith saying how great Carolina is.
We should bring him here for KR/PR. ;)

Reports are that Alexander is demanding an $80 million contract with $22 million in guaranteed bonuses.
No one but no one is going to sign the 29 year old RB to that kind of a contract. Stay tuned.
BTW This is why Hutchinson is going nowhere. They'll let Alexander walk before they allow Hutchinson to do so. :(

That line is kind of like Kansas City's, just a little younger. They will make ANYONE look good! Look at how KC just inserts new RB into the equation and they thrive. This is the kind of line the Chargers need.
Didnt Hutchinson get the franchise tag? And, Alexander aint worth that kind of money, he's good, but not that good. He doesn't deserve LT money. He'd be dumb to leave Seattle because they have a good team, and hes just one part of their success.

I don't know that Carolina would go for him, just because they already have two good RBs. Shaun Alexander might put fans in the stands, but they already have Steve Smith and the Nascar highlights on the jumbotron for that.
All in all, I just don't see him going to Carolina. Arizona desperately needs to improve their running game, and it's possible that they might see Alexander as the answer. We'll see. If he's smart though, he'll resign with Seattle and realize that there's a difference between winning the MVP and being the MVP.
In my opinion, Walter Jones was the MVP last season. Anytime an offense that is struggling can just say, let's run left through the B-gap, you know your O-line is working wonders.

Even if Alexander is released the most damage he'll do is in the NFC where he won the rushing title because the NFC has worse defenses. The AFC rb's had a tougher time getting their yards because the AFC is the DOMINANT league.

That fool thinks he's really good.
Why would Indy release Edge and get Alexander? This is why I doubt he'd go to Indy, that's all.

I don't see him going to Indy.
To me, all Indy needs is a straight ahead runner that is a credible threat to get five yards if the defense comes out with more than 5 DBs.

I think Alexander is a really good back , very similar to E. James and J Lewis (when healthy) And perhaps ALL want unrealistic money. they are good backs, but not AMAZING. Im sure the Eagles will pick one of them up. I would be amazed if they didnt . as is now they have a 3rd down back, Westbrook, as their main go to guy. That doesnt bode well for a team that should make it back to the playoffs with all the people returning back from injury, and the kimotherapy after T.O.

In terms of touchdowns, Alexander is the man. And since he is the current MVP, of course he is going to ask for a boatload of money. Why not? Why low ball yourself? I don't think he will get it, but he will get a good size of it.
If he wants to continue to be very productive, he needs to stay in Seattle. That line is awsome. Something I hope to be saying about our line later this year.
