A source close to the Ravens says the team will not trade LB Ray Lewis for anything less than a first-round pick, no matter how unhappy Lewis is. Lewis wants a new contract, but the Ravens, having given Lewis a lucrative seven-year deal (and a $19 million signing bonus) before the '02 season, aren't interested in revisiting the issue, especially when they had offered Lewis a shorter deal that would have given him a shot at free agency earlier.

Is he worth the 19th pick? I think so. He wants to be with a team that can make it to the SuperBowl. Yeah I hear the talk that he doesn't fit on our defense. Whenever you can get talent and fire like this, you make it fit.

I love Ray but I would be hard pressed to give up a 1st round pick for him. I would look at maybe a 2nd.

Too much for a position that really isnt a necessity. Dont expect him to come over here.

Someone is smoking too much green. Ray Lewis today isnt worth but a 3rd rounder. Ray Lewis in his prime is may be worth a 1st. But today, not likely will someone pay that much for a con.

Yeah we do have a lot of green up here in the Bay. But just was wondering. I know he is getting old, but a year or two with him and Merriman. I mean just the knowledge of the game would be a great asset. With that being said, I would assume we could get the same thing for Seau.

Just was curious.

No way...the way he is so physical with his body...it cant last forever and unless he can be an awesome safety, he isnt a need of our Defense!

How bout we trade our first for there first and ray lewis. then we grab seau if he gets released or trade him for a 3rd rounder. then when the patriots release willie mcginest, we can sign him for a 1 year deal. after that, then we can release stephen cooper, carlos polk, and the rest of our backups. NO WAY NO HOW NOT TODAY. ID RATHER HAVE T.O ON OUR TEAM!!!

This doesn't sound like a great idea. Why would we give up a 1st rounder for a position that is not really a necessity?

Maybe Im interpreting your post wrong, but atre you honestly saying if you could get Seau for the same price as Lewis, you would take Seau?

No, I meant for the leadership and insight thing. I don't think Seau should be paid, but the veterans minimum. If that. But I do have a lot of love for Seau...

Wasnt questioning your love for Seau. But if the same price tag came up for Ray Lewis or Seau......... get my drift? Only a fool would pick Seau.
Great guy , but basically should be coaching now. Shame the chargers let him go in the first place, If you ask me it should have never happened.

its hard to value a first round pick to an elite player, so i dunno, if it was like the 29th pick sure, but if its a top 10, i wouldnt trade a top 10 pick for any player.

Ray Lewis for our 19th pick??? No way. There's too much talent at the 19th pick to give it up even for Ray Lewis.

Shaun Alexander and Marvin Harrison were only a few of the greats drafted at #19 overall.

And to add to the Seau opinions. The only way we sign Seau is for a "1 DAY" contract to retire a Charger.

In his prime, Ray Lewis was as good as it gets at LB. Obviously, that's not the case any longer, as in, is Ray Lewis worth a Merriman or a Castillo? I think not. I would love to see Seau come back here to coach, as many have expressed.

Ray Lewis is worth a 2nd round pick or high 28-32 First round pick. He is old and coming off an injury. We will say when he becomes a FA whether he will be with us or not.

i think its too much of a gamble to trade a a top 10 pick for a paritcular player, i might have been a little too strong, but i feel strongly about my draft picks...

I agree. I think releasing Seau, Harrison, and Carney were the only mistakes this AJ/JB regime has made.
