They deserve it
Years of mocking the US national past time has paid off for this hard working country.
America continue to suck at world athletic events:
First the Olympics, then the WBC, up next: The World Cup! :)

Hate to say it but its our arrogance:mad: , we're spoiled and expect too much, and these other countries are gunning for us.

Well, we don't exactly have our best athletes out there either. How many pros are more concerned about their professional career than supporting their country? It used to be an honor, but, as a previous poster mentioned, the arrogance of some makes them think they are too cool for the USA.
I also think a lot of anti-American sentiment plays into this as well. Very sad. Why do people come to live here and partake of our freedoms and liberties just to turn around and bash us? (i.e. flag-burning, out of control protest demonstrations)

Another reason I believe is that our baseball is more based on power in America. A friend of mine went to the semi's at Petco and commented that the int'l teams played more baseball than home run derby.
He noted that he saw more double plays in one game in the WBC than a whole month of MLB. There is more strategy involved in countried like Cuba, Japan, etc...
I didn't watch a single pitch of it.......no cable.........argghh!! Just some observations from someone who was there.

i think other countries have the advantage over us due to the fact they have players in the MLB and they share info on hitters and Pithcers from the USA. i also think we did have most of our best players out there, maybe next year.

FYI, I'm not one of them! :) I came from a country where if you burn a flag on the street, you'll go straight to prison for years for trying to overthrow the government! I do know what freedom means and that's why I've come here.

Yeah. We used to dominate the Americas Cup back in the day, though. I also remember one of the daughters from the captain of the America when the cup was held back in 1992. Good days.
