Yanked this from ESPN Insider!

Kerry Collins

Chargers?
Colts?
Titans?

Collins still available
<Aug. 25> There continues to be considerable buzz surrounding the possibility that someone will yet make a move to sign Collins, ESPN.com's Len Pasquarelli reports.

There were whispers that Indianapolis officials, while awaiting the results of the MRI on Jim Sorgi?s shoulder earlier this week, kicked around Collins? name. Colts president Bill Polian, while the general manager in Carolina, chose Collins in the first round of the 1995 draft.

There continue to be rumblings that Tennessee, where some staffers simply don?t feel that career backup Billy Volek is the answer as even the short-term successor to Steve McNair, might think about Collins as well.

And even a team like San Diego, where neither A.J. Feeley nor Charlie Whitehurst has played well enough during the preseason to cement the No. 2 spot behind first-year starter Philip Rivers, might take a look.

Where does it say that the Chargers have shown interest in Kerry Collins?

All I see is a writer who is speculating that "a team like" the Chargers might be interested in Collins - with no factual foundation for that "guess".

BTW I don't see the Chargers having any interest whatsoever in Collins (who is only interested in being paid starter's salary and being given a legitimate chance to win the starter's job).

he'd be a very bad qb in our system, because he's the type of qb who needs good oline protection to be effective, he doesn't have a quick release, he'd more than likely be a worse backup for us than feeley is.

I would still be happier with a proven veteran in collins than with feeley or whitehurst.

Exactly, which is the only reason why I agreed with Oakland letting him go. A ton of Raider fans think it was Collins' fault the last 2 years. No, it was the o-line. He is way too underrated and like any pocket QB, he needs a line. Give him a line and he's a good shot at a playoff berth. Al Davis didn't want to let him go and was actually considering re-signing him, working around the cap, but with the o-line being rebuilt, Collins would've experienced the same troubles and it would've been back to square one. I wish him luck and success, I think he was treated unfairly and wrongly used as a scapegoat for our troubles on offense.

You are right about Collins' being used as a scapegoat for other woe's the Raiders have. One of the biggest issues is Al Davis, and Art Shell is not the answer, he is just a new scapegoat.

Collins doesn't need to be brought into San Diego. We have other priorities than to pay him the money he desires. I am basing my opinion totally on money, and the fact that I don't see Collins as an answer to any of the Chargers issues. I don't see the Front Office going for it unless he comes as a bargain player anyways.

Kerry Collins is a proven veteran good poise and a cannon for an arm. I'd take him if he came in cheap. But I'm betting the Titans will get him.

From NFL.com

"While Collins was deciding whether to play this season -- and he seriously debated retiring and living on his farm in North Carolina -- he also heard from the Indianapolis Colts, Jacksonville Jaguars and San Diego Chargers. Having the Colts and Chargers pursue Collins makes sense. Colts backup quarterback Jim Sorgi has been nursing a sore shoulder, San Diego starting quarterback Philip Rivers banged up his shoulder, and neither Indianapolis nor San Diego feels comfortable with the depth they have at the quarterback position."

He has since signed with the titans.

my guess is the titans as well
even though hew would be a fine fit in a charger uniform to help PR out because whinehurst has barely seen any nfl play at all and we all know PR has seen very little real nfl play as well
