Rookie cornerback Antonio Cromartie is inching his way into a larger role.
He and starter Drayton Florence are alternating series and playing almost the same number of snaps, including some in which they are on the field together.
And while Florence won't acknowledge it, pretty much everyone else sees that the competition between the two is making everyone better.
“You've got this young guy who comes in with all this ability . . . ” cornerback Quentin Jammer said. “Cromartie is not just nipping at Flo's heels, he's nipping at my heels. Cro is nipping at Flo's heels. Flo is nipping at my heels. So it raises my level. It's competition.”
