Chad: Just get me the (expletive) ball
BY MARK CURNUTTE | ENQUIRER STAFF WRITER

BALTIMORE - Chad Johnson was doubly frustrated by the Bengals' 26-20 loss and how he thinks he has been under-utilized all season.
And he let it all out Sunday in the locker room after the game.
Johnson had four receptions for 32 yards and no touchdowns against Baltimore. Teammate T.J. Houshmandzadeh surpassed Johnson as the team's leading receiver in yards gained (488 to 483).

"Anybody have the stats for today?" Johnson asked at one time. "Four - that sucks. You have your best player, and you can't even get him the (expletive) ball. I just go out there and get the job done. But now, all of a sudden, there is a problem this year. How many catches did I get? Four. That (expletive) sucks, too."

He has 40 catches for 483 yards and two touchdowns at the mid-point of the season. He is on pace for 80 receptions for 966 yards and four touchdowns.

Johnson, in his past three Pro Bowl seasons, has averaged 94 receptions, 1,353.7 receiving yards and 9.3 touchdown catches.

"All I can do as an individual is go out and make plays and give (my) best effort," Johnson said. "Also, to be given the opportunity to make plays. Four for 32 - that's (expletive) ridiculous. You've got to be (expletive) kidding me.

"When Christmas comes around, I might as well be a hood ornament. Because all I've been so far is a decoration - a decoration sitting out there all pretty, ready for people to jump on."

Johnson wants the ball but doesn't want to come across as selfish. He said the more he gets the ball, the better the chances are that the Bengals will win.

"What is No. 85 now, some kind of secret?" he said. "They know what the hell I can do."

He made a joking reference to retiring.
"Maybe I should retire like Tiki (Barber)," Johnson said of the New York Giants running back.

"You tell me what the problem is."

Here's another take on Ocho Cinco, courtesy of profootballtalk.com (http://www.profootballtalk.com/rumormill.htm):

OCHO CINCO ES IMPLODINGO

We knew it would happen.

Ever since we heard about the halftime hissy-fit that Chad Johnson a/k/a Ocho Cinco pitched during halftime of that January playoff loss to the Steelers because, even though the team was winning, he wasn't getting enough looks, we sensed that Seņor Cinco was a candidate for a meltdown if he ever found himself not catching enough passes on a consistent basis.

And it's happening.

After Sunday's loss to the Ravens, Johnson teed off regarding the fact that he got only four catches for 32 yards.

"Four -- that sucks," Johnson said. "You have your best player, and you can't even get him the [expletive] ball. I just go out there and get the job done. But now, all of a sudden, there is a problem this year. How many catches did I get? Four. That [expletive] sucks, too."

"All I can do as an individual is go out and make plays and give (my) best effort. Also, to be given the opportunity to make plays. Four for 32 -- that's [expletive] ridiculous. You've got to be [expletive] kidding me. When Christmas comes around, I might as well be a hood ornament. Because all I've been so far is a decoration -- a decoration sitting out there all pretty, ready for people to jump on."

The fact that four is also the number of the team's wins and the team's losses surely makes it even harder for Johnson to stomach, assuming that he places any value whatsoever on team goals (and we're not sure that he really does).

Moving forward, the challenge for coach Marvin Lewis will be to get Johnson's head in the game -- and the only way to do that is to get him the ball early and often.

But since the opponents now know that taking Johnson out of the game might set the stage for him to become a halftime and/or sideline distraction, look for opponents to try even harder to render Ocho Cinco irrelevanto.

ocho cinco won't be doing too well this coming weekend as well when Dos Tres locks him down. look for another ocho hissy-fit meltdown.

As much as i like Chad for his abilities in the Media to not seem cocky, The fact remains, When you proclaim yourself in front of the whole world, you start getting inflated expectations which become imperative to live up to, and when you dont, you will get this kind of meltdown that will affect the team as a whole.

I Realize Chad is having fun and personally i enjoy watching his entertaining jests. I'm just very grateful with all our talent, we dont have this problem.

Trouble lurks in season's second half
BY PAUL DAUGHERTY | ENQUIRER STAFF WRITER

As Palmer put it, delicately, "We do have some guys who don't take every advantage of their situation. We need to mature and become professionals. The way we've gone about our business has got us (to) 4-4."

It didn't help that T.J. Houshmandzadeh slammed his helmet on the field after a no-call and had to be bear-hugged in restraint by Lewis, or that Palmer launched an extended scream at Chris Henry at the end of the game, for not jumping for a Hail Mary pass. It wasn't great that Chad Johnson's contribution to the post-game conversation was to mention frequently he didn't get the ball enough.

In the NFL, you don't get what you expect, but rather what you deserve.
