University of Miami defensive end Bryan Pata was shot and killed Tuesday night, shortly after leaving the practice field, according to a university official with knowledge of the situation.
The official, speaking on condition of anonymity because a formal announcement still was being prepared by the university, had no knowledge of the circumstances surrounding Pata's death.
Miami-Dade police refused to release specific information about what happened. Further details to come.
As if the U needed any more problems for this season.

I guess being at The U beats living in New York's trash dump.
Don't we have someone here that would know about that?

Pata was a pretty good defensive lineman...may he rest in peace.
I always heard that there's 2 extreme environments in Miami...I understand it's a very diverse community but there's a bridge down there that seperates the hood from the better locations in that city. It's sad, because most of these players are from lower scale areas just trying to survive. Football's their only outlet for a majority of those players and it's sad we seem to hear these tragic events all too often with this football program this year.
There's just too many things going on with these kids outside of football it really sucks.
The program is sinking and it just can't seem to get it back to where it once was.
I guess being at The U beats living in New York's trash dump.

The New York trash dumps are nice. New Jersey has okay trash dumps. Pennsylvania... now those are the best trash dumps in the world. Connecticut sucks, not just the trash dumps... the state as a whole. :good: :good: :good: :good:
