The San Diego Chargers signed rookie defensive tackle Brandon McKinney to the active roster today. McKinney has been a member of the team’s practice squad since the start of the season. The 6-2, 324 rookie was originally signed as a free agent from Michigan State.

McKinney fills the vacancy on the roster left by the four-game suspension of linebacker Shawne Merriman.

Man we are getting thin up front on D. Hopefully he can help out untill we get past all these injuries.

I really like this kid. I think that he's our guy at DT after "The Wall" calls it quits.

Sweet Jesus! 324 lbs? Is he gonna be backing up Jamal, or clogging 1/3 of that line in Luis' spot?

He will probably spell Jamal

He'll be lucky to be on the active 45 man roster tomorrow.

Just because a player moves off of the practice squad onto the 53 man roster doesn't mean that he's going to play. I'd hope that the Chargers aren't that thin and banged up that they were forced to move a player off the practice squad into playing significant minutes a day before a critical game.

I wonder if he has lost any weight. He was too heavy coming into the draft, which affected his agility. If he has lost 15-20 lbs. to gain agility, AJ might have gotten a real diamond in the rough.

I figured they'd bring in another defensive end. I know Castillo is out, and I thought Robinson was too. That leaves Igor, Cesaire, and nobody else, right?

Robinson will play.

Anyone coming off the practice squad is merely adding depth to the 53 man roster. He's unlikely to play.

I'm sure Bingham can fill in on running downs if need be

Yeah, this guy wont play tomorrow... But, I hope the 2 or 3 game checks he will recieve will be extra motivation for him to work hard to make the squad next year.

The more I see of Bingham the more I feel he is best suited to be a B/U DE in the 3-4, he is powerful but too

light at 303 IMO, the guy was one of our most improved linemen during camp hopefully we will extend him like

we did cesaire, I like bingham better than robinson, in the past robinson has made some plays but he seems

to be very inconsistent and has aslo given hints of character issues since college when he was suspended

he already got a DUI in SD and his body does not reflect the work ethic that some of our other defenders

possess i.e. cesaire, bingham, castillo, and olshansky--I hope we keep bingham, I don't dislike robinson

but if it comes down to one or the other I choose the guy that hasn't had any trouble off the field and has

shown trememdous work ethic and improvement, not to mention the fact that he is versatile like cesaire

and can manage the nose in a pinch--I also hope McKinney makes the B/U NT position his to lose, today they

cut andre lott that tells me that castillos injury is going to take time and the D-line has been prioritized over

secondary, also this probably means that we are either going to activate oben or already have, hopefully when

merriman comes back we will cut another one of those DBs that never get activated, I think we need the depth

at D-line more anyway, I always felt taking six d-linemen into season was a bit of a stretch especially with all the

rotating that we do, plus the fact that Bingham is not a true nose tackle like McKinney

I am afraid that you may be right about Castillo's injury. I fear that he will not be available for the Denver game :(.

that is okay as long as this doesn't mean that eric parker's season is over or something

I think McKinney got some playing time... He goes to PS to playing in a big game. Good stuff!

I read where he did get some PT. I haven't had a chance to see what he did during the game. Too busy at a new job.

Work - who needs it? ;)

He looked so so, he played a little in one of the drives that cincy was forced to settle for a field goal, I think it was the 3rd quarter

I would rather lose EP until the playoffs than lose Castillo or Williams for next week.

They are both major parts of this team, but EP keeps those chains movin' he is mister consistency, he does

it against every team we face, Malcolm Floyd and Vincent Jackson haven't proven they can do that yet
