Hey guys, does anyone have any idea about how they determine the schedule as far as who plays on Saturdays and who plays on Sundays? The reason being is that I just started a new job and they need me to work either Sat 13th or Sun 14th (7a-7p) and I don't know what to tell them. I have to have an answer by Friday, and I'm just hoping that the team with the best record gets the most rest and plays on Sunday. Anyone have any input? Does our (prospective) opponent have anything to do with it? I mean either way we play in SD so I don't know how it would, but anything you guys got or suggestions would be awesome...thanks

You may try telling your new supervisor about your dilemma and being a huge Charger fan...who knows he may be one too and understand, possibily working with you on your scheduling.

The AFC has the late game on Sat. and the early game on Sunday. IMO, since the Chargers finished #1 and LT is on the team, I think they'll play on Sat. night 8:00 EST, which, if you worked, you'd see the 2nd half of the game. You're on Vegas time, right? If they play on Sunday, it'll be the early game (1:00 EST) and you'd miss the whole game.
So I would say you should work Sat. and try to get out early! If there's any way you could start earlier to get out earlier, go ahead and do that.

I think I read in one of the official updates on this site that the date of the Bolts 1st playoff game will be posted by mid week OF THIS WEEK (which we are now in) so keep checking today (Wed.) or tomorrow.

My brother-in-law is a Ravens season ticket holder and he says he heard they're playing on Saturday which means the Chargers would play on Sunday.

I checked the Ravens message board and the Baltimore radio station which carries the Ravens games also says the Ravens are playing on Saturday.

Day, Not Time Set For Ravens Playoff Game
Tuesday, January 02, 2007
WBAL Radio

We know a day.
We do not know a time or an opponent for the Ravens first playoff game.
On its website, (http://baltimoreravens.com/gameday/) the team says it will play one week from this Saturday, on January 13, at M & T Bank Stadium.
The game will either be at 4:30 pm, or 8:00 pm, depending on the results of this weekend's wild card games.
No matter when it's played, you will hear the game here on WBAL.
The players have been given five days off, and will resume practice on Saturday.

I don't know how reliable this is, but there it is...

I saw that somewhere too - don't know why they'd announce that now though, instead of when they announced the WC games (or after those games are played).

I'm hoping for Sunday as I want us to stay on as 'normal' a schedule as possible.

LOL WBAL doesnt have a clue. There is NO chance that the Ravens play 8 est on sat. The chances are good tho that they play 430 est on sat.

Bottom line: If you think the Colts will beat the Chiefs take Sunday off and vice versa.

As well as the link Lefty posted, check this one as well.
http://www.signonsandiego.com/sports/chargers/20070103-9999-1s3chargers.html which says:

If the Chiefs win, they will play the Chargers, most likely at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 13. If the Colts win, then San Diego will host either the Patriots or Jets, most likely at 1:30 on Sunday, Jan. 14. The exact time and date will not be announced until this weekend, but it's believed the NFL wants to avoid having the Patriots-Jets survivor play a road game on short rest (their game is Sunday).

That's a good point about the Pats/Jets winner needing more time (esp. since they have to travel cross-country) - it makes sense that the NFL would wait & see before they set the schedule.

When you initially open www.chargers.com (http://www.chargers.com), the pop-up says the game will be on the 13th or 14th @ 1:30... If you call the Chargers ticket office, they say that they don't know, and will not know until this weekend has played out? My guess is if the Chiefs win, wew ill play on Saturday, if the Colts win, we will play the winner of Pat's -vs- Jets on Sunday as "GladstoneGold" indicated in his response?

I am flying in on Friday night and going home Sunday night in case either happens? It would be great if we got the evening game Saturday (not likely) so I can make sure my beers are nice and cold by time the lot opens!
