Life Without Marty – How to Adjust

Will the Chargers be able to make it to the playoffs again without Marty yelling "one play at a time" a thousand times on the sidelines all year long?

I wonder if the players will forget that one play is played at a time. They might fall into a fog and forget what he used to say. They might get it mixed up and remember it as "one time at a play". Or worse yet, they might start playing two plays at a time. That would be disastrous. http://media.scout.com/media/forums/emoticons/eek.gif

Maybe Dean Spanos can find audio of Marty yelling "one play at a time" and require the new coaches to replay that recording a thousand times a game. Or better yet, AJ can have a life-size paper cut-out of Marty made and attach the recording to it; then place it on the sidelines. That way, the players can walk up to Marty whenever they forget his powerful saying and listen to him yell it as much as they want.

The players may get so engrossed in listening to the dummy that they might start to believe that it really is Marty.

Once the dummy catches on, the new coaches can put it in several locations. They can put one to the left of the bench; one to the right of the bench; and one in the locker room.

Further, they could even give the talking dummy to the rookies to carry around with them. That way the rookies can be taught the powerful philosophy of "one play at a time" 24 hours a day.

If the Chargers win the Super Bowl in 2008, since the NFL is a copy cat league, audio dummies of Marty http://media.scout.com/media/forums/emoticons/blah2.gif could potentially be seen on the sidelines of every team.

ROFL, I'd love to just get a recording of that "One play at a time" BS and just blast it through the neigbhorhood.

At EVERY home game every section of the stands will have at least one "One play at a time" sign during the 60 minutes of ball.

This thread is in the "So You Think You're Funny" topic. Guess what? Not funny.

They both suck.

We had an (apparantly) decent HC right under our noses and let him go. That's the part that's really hard to swallow. Norv over Phillips. What a brilliant strategy...
