LANE LIVID ABOUT ROSTER MOVES
A source with knowledge of the situation tells us that Raiders coach Lane Kiffin is fuming about the final round of roster cuts in Oakland. Though we don't know of any specific moves about which Kiffin is particularly upset, we're told that the bulk of the moves is evidence that owner Al Davis still has a significant amount of influence over the football operation.
Even when what Davis wants conflicts with the wishes of his head coach.
But what's Kiffin gonna do about it? He's a guy who was on no one's radar screen as an NFL head-coaching candidate at the end of the 2006 season, and his selection for the gig likely was influenced by the fact that he'd go along to get along.
Despite the perception that, because Kiffin took the job no one wanted, he must not be very good, we've heard from several media types who are impressed with the former USC assistant. In our view, the mere fact that he didn't shrug in response to moves dictated from above tell us that Lane is his own man.
It might get him fired from his current job, but it could help him land his next job

Nice to see that all is well in raiders land... :pDavis is feeding off the life of his staff and players so he will probably live to be 110 years old simply because he's the owner of the Oakland Raiders. It's one of those symbiotic relationship type thingies otherwise known as a parasite.
The Raiders consort with Davis (not by choice)
The Broncos consort with Terrorists (probably by choice)
and The Chiefs consort with mediocrity(because thier the Cheifs)
Things are definately looking up in ChargerLand http://www.nflfans.com/x/images/smilies/thumb.gif

Otherwise known as a blood-sucking vampire. It's no coincidence that he looks like Gary Oldman in "Bram Stoker's Dracula."

From an ESPN article ......
"Raiders counting on big performance from rookie TE Miller"
With top pick JaMarcus Russell still holding out and third-rounder Quentin Moses getting cut, tight end Zach Miller is the only one of the top three on the roster.

This was from another article:
The Oakland Raiders released third-round pick Quentin Moses ....
they also released fifth-round safety Eric Frampton and placed fourth-rounder Michael Bush on the physically unable to perform list. With seventh-rounder Johntahan Holland already on injured reserve and No. 1 pick JaMarcus Russell holding out, that means five of Oakland's 11 draft picks will not be on the opening day roster.

The Raiders have a pretty good D .... the key for them is "IF" they get some decent play from the O, they could be fairly decent, I don't know how good or bad their ST's are.
It seems Al Davis should consider hiring a football guy that he could trust to turn the operations over to .... I think he's probably past his prime, maybe he passed it yrs ago:)
J. Russell should get a thank you card from D. Culpepper ;)
Go Chargers!

Holy crap they haven't signed Russell yet!!
Its kind of like a catch 22 for him. If you don't sign, you don't get to play, but if you do, you're still a Raider.

1. They can't even sign their 1st rd. draft pick...
2. They cut their 3rd AND 5th rd. draft picks...
3. Their 4th rd. pick is on the PUP list...
4. They still have no O-line...
5. They still SUCK!...
6. Al needs his adult diaper changed before he develops a rash on his old wrinkled ass...
Conclusion: Yup, things are looking VERY good in Chargerland! http://img296.imageshack.us/img296/5931/agreeuh4.gif

If I was Al Davis, there would be money taken off everyday Russell does not sign. Everyone else has worked hard and practiced.

I have to agree with most of this. The draft has been a horrible bust for the Raiders so far. Who knows. JaMarcus may pan out, but so far the draft is a bust. Cutting your third rounder? Thats sad. I consider the first three draft picks to be critical. A third rounder should either be a solid career back up or a young gun ready to replace an aging veteran in a few years. In the past much to the pain of us all, the Raiders were the team that would take the dregs of the league and shape them up and win games. Now the Raiders are creating the dregs and dropping them for other teams to develop.

And if I were Russell, I'd wait to go into the draft next year if they try to do that.
Al and the Raiders are trying to change the rules on the pay scale for draftees all on their own.
It's a CBA issue - what a calamity it would be for the Raiders to have nothing to show for the number 1 pick in the draft. When you picked him number 1, you had to know you have to pay him number 1 money, right Al?
