As much as i want the Saints to win this one, Peyton will make up for the defencive weakness of the Colts and pull this one out.
Hope i'm wrong.

The Saints had that short game rolling in the pre-season and can eat up some serious time. R. Bush in year two.
I'm picking them in the opening upset ...
I can't choose between the two. I like both equally. Manning's a nice guy, Addai looks like he could be great, Colts have a great WR corps.
Brees is a former Charger, Bush will be good, McAllister is good, the WRs are good, how will I choose.

Faith Hill didn't sound very good, the miracles of modern sound mixers technology at work, it's pretty different when it's not present.

True, but even if the Saints were in the AFC, they'd still be pretty good.

Pretty good? the saints look awful. they havent thrown the ball over 8-10 yards. they ahve the defense tight against them and are lucky to be in the game. What is Payton doing with the playcalling? does he think by dinking the ball down the field they are going to win?
what about hte third down call against the blitz on their opening drive? Pulling a F )))kng Guard? are you insane? that line was like wet toilet paper!!!!

Nah... you cant say that, but its easy t o say its Brees..

If we lose to the bares it will suck. thats what Im most concerned about, not how an ex-charger QB performs in a poorly played game on Thursday, which some seem to find some sanctuary in....

Anyone notice that the first INT that Brees threw, over the middle, to that waiting Colts LB, that he couldn't see over his own linemen?
---------
Also, notice how the Saints couldn't really put any pressure on Peyton all night and he frequently had 8+ seconds to wait for his WR to get open?
We know how to pressure the QB. We are one of the best at doing it. Sacks, knockdowns, and forcing out of the pocket.
The Chargers would crush Indy in the RCA Dome again. We did it two years ago with a lesser team than we have now. We almost did it the year before that too, save for some blown special teams on our part.
Peyton has only lost 3 times in the past 29 home games now. A 26-3 home record since the 2004 season and including playoffs. Those 3 losses? Jacksonville, Chargers, Pittsburgh.
What's the common denominator of those 3? A 3-4 defense that can stop the run, decent (but not necessarily great) pass defense, and lots of pressure on the QB.
The Saints got destroyed because they couldn't do any of those three. They couldn't stop the run, they have a sucking pass defense, and they couldn't pressure Manning.
If you thought our secondary isn't as good as some, the Saints' secondary is downright atrocious.
Dr. Z. of SI said that he thought the Saints would beat us in the Super Bowl this year as part of his prediction.
How is a Saints team that gives up 2000+ rushing yards every season (125+ per game) going to stop a Chargers team with the best RB in the league and one of the best in history?

Even worse is that the Saints couldn't key on stopping the pass because the Colts were running them all over the field with Addai.
The Saints went back to giving up 125+ rushing yards per game like they always do. Actually, it was more than 160 yards, including 118 by Addai.
Meanwhile the Saints barely got 100 yards rushing, and none of their rushers even reached 40 yards. Deuce McAlister and Reggie Bush both held to less than 40 yards!
You stop the run, then you can tee off on them when they pass. The Saints couldn't stop the run, so they couldn't focus on stopping the Colts passing game.
The Saints didn't even score an offensive TD!
Game Over.

Looks like the Colts' D is still in post-season mode. It was nice to hear Al and John mention that the guys we have now on defense are better than the ones we lost. They're right. We were getting tired of listening to the national media guys saying that our defense will be hurting without many of last year's starters.
Of course - the noise of our dome, hanging the banner, watching the first real game since SBXLI could have had an effect as well.
It will be week 9 before the Colts play another playoff team.

The saints just got out played yesterday. Too many WR were dropping the ball and #42 was getting burnt too many times. I think Brees to ok yesterday. I wouldnt say bad but Ok. Look at the Saints losses to the Ravens, Bengals, Steelers, and Bears last year, and last night's loss to the Colts.
Drew Brees threw for 350-500+ yards in nearly all of those games. So, this is not a knock on him. He's not to blame for the majority of those losses.
There are 3 main common denominators in all of those games.
1.) The Saints couldn't run the ball well. In all those games, both Deuce and Reggie had a tough time even reaching 50 yards each.
2.) The Saints couldn't stop the run. In those losses above (and probably the others as well), they allowed 110+ yards rushing. Rudi Johnson ripped them for 111 yards by himself. Willie Parker got 210 yards. The Bears got 186 yards. The Ravens got 137 yards. Addai got 118 yards, and the Colts had 160 yards total.
3.) The Saints couldn't pressure the opposing QB.
To win consistently you must:
1.) Run the ball well
2.) Stop the run
3.) Pressure the QB
People need to realize that if you can't do any of the 3 above, you will never win the game, no matter how good your passing offense is.
You think the Colts would have made it to the Super Bowl if their run defense had still been giving up 170 rushing yards per game like it did the regular season?
