Just got off the phone with Monty at CJ's. No additional cost for dropping the items off. Just pay the autograph fee. However, he did mention that you will need to pay the $8 fee if you want PSA to authenticate it. If not, CJ's will authenticate it for you.
...and they say nothing is free. Good deal if you ask me if your not planning to go to the show. However, I highly recommend that hobbyists attend at least one show in their lives. It is quite an experience. Just a tip, you can usually haggle with some vendors there in the closing hours of the last day. I was able to score some display cases for cheap.

Hey idon'tsellautos, I heard you bumped into Antonio Gates a couple days ago, how did it go? Any autographs?
Yeah I did, it was after the game on Sunday at Benihana's in Carlsbad. He was cool, signed a few things for me (2 ticket stubs, 1 mini helmet, 3 11x14 photos, and 1 8x10 photo). I was just lucky to have my stuff in the car.
Also, don't take this the wrong way, but who are you?

I've deleted almost all mu old posts, idntsellautos why dont you erase those old super long posts to clear up space, now that everyone's cool I dont think you need to leave them on here do ya?
Who made you a monitor on this blog? No offense, but I'll delete them when I think it's appropriate. That and I think my old posts still draws some laughs, even from myself and the "pros" (considering how long-winded they were). It's called humility, try it some time.
Me being cool with everyone on this blog, for the time being I wouldn't think so since I don't actually know who the majority of you are who post on here (no faces to names). For the few I know by face, you guys are cool in my book (Jeremy - AZMav, Gameday - LaJolla, Brian - BP619, Dan - NY10s, Ray - Xtra, and Andrew - whatever your name is on here). Ideally, I would like to be friends with everyone here, but realistically I believe it's near impossible (never say never though) considering how judgemental a few are who post on this blog.
To everyone else, hope the holidays have treated you well and have a wonderful and prosperous 2008! Take care and God Bless!

Hey everyone, I'm new to this. I notice that everyone here seems to have gotten a lot of stuff signed. I recently bought a Chargers helmet, and have no idea where to start to try to get it signed. I noticed that I did miss an opportunity to meet Jamal yesterday. Any suggestions?

I don't post much, but I just gotta say that that's a damn nice gesture by CJ's to take stuff up for no additional charge. I'm definitely gonna send up an LT jersey and a couple other things as well.

ok people.....As some of you know, I won a car at a Shaun Phillips signing. I need to sell it. The damn govt are comin at me now with everything i owe them for it. sooooooooooooooo.......if any of you want to buy it, or know someone who would like to buy a new car, please let me know. and sorry, i cant take really low ball requests. ive turned many down already. Im asking $22,000 for it, but for anyone on here, or family/friends of people on here. ill do $20,000. not bad since you wont have to pay taxes, and its brand new and has a sticker price of $24,000 and the dealers sell it for around $27,000. hit me up.

Can someone who knows a lot about authentic jerseys and whatever look at this link and tell me if this is actually an authentic? I want to get an authentic cromartie jersey for the gtsm show but they dont have them on chargers.com and this looks good to me, basicly as long as they have the 3 quarter collar and everything sewn/embrodered then its at least identical to an authentic?? As long as it looks good once its framed, would a replica be better? Someone pm me please and let me know.
Jersey experts correct me if I am wrong, but those numbers don't look to be tackle twill, which is the material the authentics use...
For anyone interested in the whole authentic route... I usually get jersey numbers done up and buy authentic blanks and have a sports store who is licensed by the nfl do the sewing and lettering.

Have you considered eBay Motors? It's an extension of eBay but limited to car and parts sales.
Here's the link to show other Dodge Chargers currently for sale:

yea, i thought about that, but i dont wanna have to deal with an out of town person, or paying the ebay fees.

I don't know of any local signings in the next month but like I've said before I hope the team is really busy the next month and doesn't have time for appearances.
I only ask that you delete older posts that talk about signings in the past as they can be confusing if someone reads them after the fact or are just "who's going to this" kind of chit chat. Please feel free to leave picture posts or anything else you want.
i deleted about 60 last night, ill do more today probably

Whoever is reading this thread that has any influence in local appearances here is a list of players I need and I would stand in line for or even pay for and I'm sure many many others would also:
Marcus McNeil
Malcolm Floyd
Philip Rivers
Lorenzo Neal
Michael Turner
ANTONIO CROMARTIE (#1 request)
Quentin Jammer
Marlon McCree
Drayton Florence
Brandon Manumaleuna

I got most of the above at traning camp so you have an out. Rivers (again) and Neal would be a coup if they did a public signing. You'd better get Drayton and Turner soon since they'll be gone after this season.

Whoever is reading this thread that has ANY influence in local appearances since Drayton and Michael Turner most likely will be gone next year lets do a signing before they leave - easy money for whoever can set it up... they'll have a harder time doing paid signings where ever theyre going...

It isn't really easy money because what if the promoter is stuck with 150 8x10s of Michael Turner in a Chargers Uni the day he signs with another team. Now those are worthless. It is real tough to do guys like this. Just my 2 cents.

Sounds like you know from experience? Do you have 150 8x10s of David Boston? j/k
Thats a good point though. They could just charge more per auto at the appearance - that would be fine with me.

Maybe some of you veterns can help me with this dilema. I got in to this hobby (not a business) as a Charger Fan who enjoys seeing and talking to the players when you're getting their autograph but what about 'Private Signings'? Some of you have mentioned on this blog also thats why you collect and because you dont trust buying from someone else and you like to have a little story behind every piece. I suppose if 'Private Signings' are the only way to get a particular player and its a reputable place (like CJ's) then I guess its my only choice. Anybody have any thoughts on this?

Well I am looking for a jersey just to get signed and framed so as long as everything looks authentic behind the glass that would be fine. As far what do I think about private signings if its someone who rarely if ever does public ones, like lance alworth, then you gotta do it. I dpont think he does very many public appearances, and seeing as how he's gotta be almost 70 I wouldn't let this opp. pass by. Also I'd rather not pay for the autos but some players you have to or else you'd have to have no life, no g/f, no friends, no job etc to just stalk the player constantly to try to "run" into them and then after all that you'd probably claim that you dont sell autos, but for the rest of us sometimes just paying makes it a lot easier.
Thanks for the input. Now where can I get a Alworth jersey!

Great Post Xtra! I've been searching and was not able to find anything regarding the events at the NFL Experience. I checked SB.COM and only found the basic information. The link you posted is exactly what I was looking for.
I will be there for all the days of the NFL Experience. I'm really surprised that they split the days the way they did. They usually run in consecutive days.

I've been calling the # given on the NFL website but they have yet to list any players. I know that topps will have some signers, but I scored the best Players at Footlocker, XBOX, and the Air Force Booth in the past. If possible, it's best to have a group of people to stand in various lines. I'm taking the entire Family for the opening days of the NFL Experience. My wife will get in one line and I'll get in another with our kids.
The last 3 days of the event it will be just me and the Wife. Autographs during the day and then some quality time together in the evening. She's the GREATEST!

the flight is supposed to land at 7:15. they should be to Charger park by 7:45 or 8. lots of people will be there. apparently 105.3 is doing something to get a gang of people out there. i would go, but i cant make it. i would say take stuff if you want, the players will be excited with all the fans there. but get there early

I just put a bid in of $2 and was outbid hehe jk.
The thing that stood out to me about the jersey is the difference between the chargers logo under the collar part (with the nfl logo) and the knockoffs I have. All of my knockoffs look really nice except for that one particular part under the collar.

I will be sad to see Lo Neal go, but I think its starting to become evident that we are not strictly a running team. Remember, Norv wants a more balance attack so without Neal, you can throw an extra TE, receiver, or H-back (Legadu and Sproles). I believe next year, we all will start noticing that this will be Rivers team and not LT. This will be a fun year for our offense. I'm thinking we will be more like Indi with their balance attack.

The Neal signing was probably the best I've been to in a while, maybe even ever. The turnout was surprisingly small, about 75 at the time neal arrived. The first 100 people got an autographed 8x10 of neal giving a stiff arm to donnie edwards. And I believe it was limited to the first 100 that got a polaroid picture taken with Neal. On top of that he signed 1 outside item. Definitely a great session.

Agreed! Jared's did a great job organizing the event. Line went smoothly and Lo-Neal lived up to his reputation as the World's Greatest!

I'm also debating about sending an item up to the GT show with CJs. I had wanted to get LT's autograph. Does he do signings often? If so are they usually around the same price?

No LT does about 2-4 Signings a year and the prices are the same wherever he goes... Unless you get him at Training Camp...:layup
thanks for the info, I also heard that it's really hard to get something signed by him at the training camps. I might just be better at the GT show

I'll be going to the GTSM show in San Jose. I was really excited that Cro and LT were going to be out there. Living in the Bay Area, I generally miss the appearances down in SD. Its going to be fun. I was down in SD this past weekend and I stocked up on stuff for Cro and LT to sign at the GTSM show. Disappointing part of the shopping spree was that I couldn't get a Cromartie toddler jersey for my son for the photo op. All good, I'll just custom a jersey with 31 and my son's name on the back.

Well I just came back from the NFL Experience and at the time I was there (around 8pm) Stephen Cooper and the Jets RB Leon Washington were signing autos. I had no idea they were there so I just had a piece of paper for them to sign. Washington didnt even acknowledge me but Cooper saw the LT jersey I was wearing and commended me for it. I told him "Im sorry I dont have anything for you to sign, I didnt know you were going to be here". He said it was all good and I told him "Championship next season!" and he replied back "Yes sir!". :Bolt:

Here's my first report. The guys that I'm walking the autograph scene own a memorbilia shop called Authenticated Autos out of the New York area. These are the same guys that I met back in June during the Triumph Sports show .
Anyway, they've got an inside line of all the athletes personal PR representative and/or agents. So they make a few calls earlier this morning around 8am to get an insight on a few guys. So & so is having lunch over here..... so & so is making an appearance there. Anyway, Bruce turns to me and asks "So, who do you want to meet first?" No way bro, you're asking me? "Let go have lunch where Reggie Bush is at, I've got a Saints helmet itching to get signed" A few minutes later my helmet is getting hooked up by the man himself. Here's Bush signing my helmet with me next to him-
http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s147/RareAirResto/Reggiebush.jpg
Reggie was more than gracious to sign an 8x10 for me as well which on of HIS people provided. Next stop, the NBC set in hopes to get Tiki's autograph......
Did you see "tush" too? I am so jealous of you man! Not so much Reggie but all the guys your gonna see and the inside info your getting. You must be having a blast. The best part is that other than getting there, you dont have to pay for anything.

The Bengals trio were signing at a Sprint Store location for a promotional event, much like how a few Chargers did back in town. Not too many sigs at the NFL Experience for me. I'm not really into getting photos signed, I was more interested in getting my helmets signed.
Now I'm deciding if I should get Breeze (at SAn Jose) on my Saints helmet or leave Bush by himself.
Get Brees and Bush. IMO, Bush is very over rated. I wouldn't think he warrants his own helmet.
I remember back when the SB was in SD, they had a bunch of promotional stuff around town too. I remember Tony Gonzalez being at the Sports Authority by Oscars in the Mission Valley area and Amani Toomer being in the Kmart next door....sigh who knows when promos like that will ever happen again. We need a SB back in SD!

Can someone who knows where I have to go to get a cromartie auto ticket for the field of dreams let me know. Can you buy them over the phone with a credit card or what? $40 is a little pricey, but since I cant make it to san jose I guess I gotta do it cause next appearance might be $60 who knows, if he keeps performing how he did this year it won be long before its $140, do you know if the $40 inculdes inscriptions or not? I was planning on getting my team f/s, team ball and jersey but I think I'll probably just get the jersey now.
Go to the Field of Dreams in the Fashion Valley malls 1st floor by the JC Penny's. The tickets are $40- after you pre-buy, you get a hole punched red ticket. Its an extra $5 to get it authenticated and an extra $10 for inscription. I opted to do both with a authentic cromartie jersey i bought there! Hope it helps.
Anyone else knows if LT will come to SD anytime soon, would really like an inscription or something along with the autograph.

I went to Field Of Dreams friday... I called them and they said that they are selling tickets, $15.
Then me and my girl showed up, the guy said they're not selling it yet.
I told him I already called and somebody just told me that they are, he then said "ok since you called, I'll sell you the tickets, I'm not supposed to sell them yet but I'll sell them to you."
What's weird is that a couple minutes later, there was this couple that asked for the Cromartie signing tickets like we did, but he gave it to them with no questions asked... but whatever.
$30 total for me and my girl's ticket. Both tix punched with a receipt.

come on? it's a shame that they are charging for his first season as a starter...even with a great performance this year, it should be free or a smaller fee...for that price you have to get something signed other than a picture just for sheer value...lame in my opinion when guys like shaun phillips and others do multiple signings all year free and they are solid clutch players for us as well..maybe $40 for everyone else in the country but not here in sd..
The agents set the prices...

Sounds like a bunch of BS to me. I called on Friday and was told $15 as well. Anyone who goes and pays $40 after being told $15 is a sucker. Whether its Field Of Dreams or Cro's agent, WE ALL need stick to our guns and not even show up if they are going to screw us like that. I mean if Gates did a free signing this year after after 4 years of stardom, Cro will most likely be signing for free somewhere at some point next season. We just need to be patient.

Plus the fact that Cromartie was going to be signing for free at the SD Boat Show, until his appearance was cancelled due to the Chargers Playoff practice schedule.
While I do agree with Aztec Maverick that the agents drive the prices up, don't think for a second that Field of Dreams isn't making a huge profit off of each ticket sold. They are not hosting the signing out of genorosity...

generally what happens is that the agent sets the price
Like:
Shaun Phillips ~ $7000
L.T. ~ $150,000
THEN the shop will let the word be known to other dealers with shops that they will have that athlete and that the shop can get a bulk rate.
THEN the shop will let the public know.
So, the shop tries to cover all of the costs with the public and other dealer sales and they are left over with TONS of signed items to sell at their shop. It can be a HUGE gamble, but can pay off well!

just because a player isn't huge, doesn't mean he'll do a free signing...
You never see Turner, Sproles, Kaeding, or Osgood (kidding) doing free singings.
Some have a fantasy of protecting their sig value...

Actually, I made a post on this thread awhile back when the Charger Store had 30% off everything. I got the Balls for 60.00. I never pay full price for the balls, I'd be broke if I did. On Sat. evening before we left I picked up 4 Balls from the Topps tent for 175.00. The last day of the event is when you can get the best prices cause they don't want to lug all that stuff back.
Xtra and MB do what I would like to do by hitting location after location. You got some great guys there Xtra. I purchased a HOF Helmet after seeing one of your helmets you posted earlier on this thread................It's still a virgin.
What type pen do you use for your HOF Helmet, is it a Sharpie or a BLK paint pen? I want to know what type to use.....Thx in advance.

The cost is $40 PER item to be autographed. Photo ops will depend on time constraints with the athlete and/or the promoter

The guy told me that they will be selling a bunch of different 8x10s on that day, including the one handed interception.
Oh I was looking for something bigger than that like a 16 x 20. Does anyone know of a website that sells Charger Helmets below retail? I found some on eBay for $70. Also how much of a difference is there between the Replica and the Proline one? Thanks!:layup

A Replica helmet is cast in a Medium sized shell, ProLine is a Large shell.
Replica has single chinstrap, ProLine has dual chinstrap.
Replica interior pad is cheap molded foam. ProLine has inflatable bladder system.
Both helmets use the same high quality facemask.
Both are good for autograph collecting & great pieces for display purposes. But the ProLine makes a great conversation piece since the ProLine series is manufactured to a higher standard and is the same quality as those helmets used on the NFL playing field.

Went to Fashion Valley today to get my CRO sig ticket. No luck on the $15 price push, and like they say it was all a miscommunication. The previous post is what it is for the CRO sig prices.. So if you are bringing your own item, i would recommend a jersey, ball, large photo, or a FS helmet:helmet for the $40 signature. They will have a selection of 8x10s, and plenty of mini helmets both new and old style. So if you plan on bringing your own mini helmet, i suggest you just buy one there to include the signature and just add the COA if you like. I just paid for 1 sig + COA, + inscription for my FS helmet. The store rep said, you can add things for an upgrade once you are in the store, i may just get the 8x10 & mini helmet from the store.
And oh by the way it all adds up since they TAX you for everything.
According to the rep in the store >> photo is OK >> but its not guarranteed he will stand up for the occasion, since it will be a push in getting everything done in 2 hours. During my short stay there (30 minutes), 2 incoming calls were for the CRO sig, and 3 customers including myself puchased the CRO sig. So for all who are still thinking about it, good luck, i suggest you take your spot soon.:Bolt:

as noted, resale value is not my primary concern but curiosity as to the situation. There are two reasons to my speculation:
1) With the helmet i can get cro's autograph and add on to the helmet to save expenses on future jerseys.
2) I've heard of Proline helmets being a good discussion starter and a cool item to display.
Anyone else planning to drop of a jersey at CJ's for Tomlinson to sign- thinking about it for $200. How likely is Tomlinson to come to SD during the summer?

What is the best sharpie to use for an athlete on those blue numbers on the away jerseys? Is it the silver one you can buy at a regular department store? What brand is best?
Everytime I get a chance to have something signed by Merriman, neither one of us have a sharpie other than a black one. My girl had a blue chargers helmet signed with a black sharpie... the signature is sort of hard to see.

Yeah, $40 for Cro is a bit steep...but I went for it since the 16x20's of The Interception are only $16 (+ $5 shipping) on the BAllen site. I called Field of Dreams yesterday, and the guy said they'll only have 8x10s, nothing larger.

I called about my $15 ticket. He said "yeah you got lucky, it's still good... you got lucky." He sounded annoyed, but it really wasn't my fault. The information I got was $15 from this forum, then I called they said it was $15, then I showed up and paid $15 for it. I never paid for something and said, "Are you sure it's not more than that price? Can you please charge me for more just in case?" That'd be stupid. A little...

Pro Bowl in San Diego?
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell spoke to reporters during the AFC's Pro Bowl practice this morning.
Most of the questions were about the Patriots filming practices. But he also said that after the NFL's current commitment to stage the Pro Bowl in Hawaii runs out next year, the league could choose to hold the all-star game on a rotating basis on the mainland.
Goodell did not hint at any possible locales, but word is that San Diego is a possible site.

Now this would be awesome! I've been to several Pro Bowls in Hawaii and you can get a ****load of autos at the Pro Bowl. I've got HOF's and current players on a lot of stuff. We need that stadium!
KSBoltsFan
02-07-2008, 04:45 PM
Don't get your hopes up:(...the only way this will occur is with a new stadium and it does not look too good. The San Diego Mayor has already wished the CV mayor "good luck" with trying to retain the Bolts in San Diego which means that the City has thrown in the towel (read or view his State of the City address). Nasty City is out of the mix because they offered up bay front land they DIDN'T own (Port District). O'side dropped their proposal and CV (currently) does not have the infrastructure to support a stadium (no major bus services, roads, trollies, or freeway access to handle the traffic congestion).
Not to mention, this is the year (2008) the Bolts can begin negotiations with other cities OUTSIDE of San Diego.
Have you thrown in the towel? Join the group for supporting the Bolts and be proactive. We need our Bolts to stay in SAN DIEGO!!!! Visit the links in my sig to make a difference.
the main problem is SAN DIEGO is NOT A DEVELOPMENT FRIENDLY COUNTY!! It's the hardest county in the state to get anything accomplished....I wouldn't blame SD if they left...It would show how stupid our planning dept and county really is...I hate them!!! Personal RANT!!!%)*#*%#)%
It has nothing to do about the planning department. It is all about who will pay and who will profit.

How difficult is it to graph at the Brees tourney and the Humphries tourney?
I've been a regular at Humphries' tourney for the last 4-5 years.
It depends on the player. The bigger names (Elway, Emmitt, Rice, Schmidt) will only sign at designated times at the autograph table, which is set up off the 18th green when they finish their rounds. If you're looking to get Marcus Allen or Marshall Faulk, this may be the only time you can get them, but expect some attitude even when they're at the autograph table.
They won't allow any memorabilia on the course, and that includes 8x10's. I bring mine anyway, and the less-famous/notorious players will sign them. Technically, the only thing the players are supposed to sign is the golf tournament program. I've had success getting players to sign baseball/football cards and 3x5's.
For examples, Dwight Clark has signed 8x10's, magazines, and cards every time I've seen him there, between holes and not at the auto table. Gary Carter will sign baseballs but not baseball cards (something about he only signs cards for his charity). Nate Kaeding, Jim McMahon, and a few others are good signers as well.
From my experiences, along with Marcus Allen and Marshall Faulk, Deacon Jones, Mike Schmidt, and Johnny Bench are always "grumpy" (for lack of a better word) when signing (or not signing)

Personally I think the revolutions are stupid looking and the chargers dont use those, so I think a regular because it is a mini replica of the actual chargers helmet they wear, but to each his own
Actually, a few players wear the Riddell Revolution. Gates, Withrow, Diehlman, Clary & Hardwick all wear the Revolution. Castillo also did up until last year when he reverted back to the VSR4. But for some reason, Tomlinson & Cromartie are the only players that wear a Schutt helmet

I just got my authentic Cro powder blue jersey signed by the man himself yesterday at one of the Pro Bowl events. Just wanted to get your opinion of whether I should frame the jersey or not? I really bought it to wear.

Alright should I get Cromartie to sign a Authentic helmet for $164 or a Deluxe Replica for $73? I would love to get the Authentic but the price is pushing it. But if the quality is that much better, then I would probably have to get it.:helmet

Yeah, I don't think I will be wearing it. I was just caught off guard, I didn't have anything else for Cro to sign. I had no idea he would be at this "Pro Bowl Experience" event, let alone signing autographs. I'm glad he got his 2 INTs yesterday. Here are some pics of the jersey:

K I got a question for you guys...Im debating which of the following 3 items I should get signed...I only want to get 2: 16 x 20 of the INT, a team helmet with about 10 sigs on it from fan fest of last year, or a white Cromartie jersey (stiched but fake). I was going to get the photo and the team helmet but after seeing the power blue one...wow, that jersey looks gorgeous

If it was me i would get the :helmet and the jersey signed, since both items are more valuable. I will also be getting my FS helmet signed and my blue CRO jersey. My jersey is also stiched and fake, but once its mounted and framed, its kinda hard to tell the difference when framed, and will sure look good in my game room with CRO's signature on it. :Football: CRO will be the first to sign my helmet, and since i already have his numbers (31) on it, im thinking if i should have others sign it?

The Cro signature is with a black fine point Sharpie. It was real cool of Cro to take a little more time to sign his signature on my jersey. He had just spent a good hour and half signing Pro Bowl game programs and other Pro Bowl items from scores of non-Charger fans. When he saw that I was the only guy with a Cro jersey he took the time to give a clean signature. This guy is top notch.

Personally, I would like to get the 16 x 20 of the INT. That has to be one of the greatest photos and most acrobatic plays I've ever seen. Having a signed copy of that mounted in a frame and on display would be sweeeet!!!
Of the other two, I must say I am pretty happy with the signed jersey and am extremley lucky to have gotten it signed.

Im not going to the Cro signing on the 23rd because its a rip off but I did order some photos from ballenphotos.com for next year's free signings. I chose the cheap $5 shipping option and it took 2 weeks to get them. The 16X20 of Cro's one handed pick is OK quality. There is obvious pixelation(like it was taken off the net) when you look at the photo closely but it looks decent from a short distance away. The 8x10 looks much cleaner and the other photos that I ordered are clean as well. These photos don't appear to be actual photo reproductions(not as glossy) but print outs such as when I scan photos and print them on my hp at home. A little overpriced for what they are if you ask me but some unique shots nonetheless.

I noticed that too...all of a sudden their selection is nowhere near what it was a week ago, and that's for all players. I have no idea why. It scared me when I was checking the status of my order. Try emailing them to see what's up.
If you strike out with Ballen, Field of Dreams will have 8x10's for sale the day of the signing, and I'm pretty sure they'll be pics of The Interception. Problem is, they won't have anything larger than 8x10.
You can always try Ebay too, but the selection there will suck too

Agreed, BT. The quality of the 16x20 could be better, but $16 for a 16x20 was less than half what other places charge. Unfortunately, they're the only ones that offered anything more thn 8x10's of that play.

For those of you that were talking about this a while ago, I just got some 11x14 mats with 8x10 and 3x5 holes cut in them, for displaying autos on 3x5 cards with a pic of the player.
I got them on Ebay, 3 for $10 (+ $5 shipping). You can either buy one or 3 at a time. The displays came out pretty nice. I used them for autos from Roger Clemens (bad example...haha), and Troy Aikman when I met them at the Bob Hope Golf Tournament in Palm Springs a couple years ago. They wouldn't sign anything but the tournament program. I plan on doing this for the big players at the Stan Humphries golf tourney this year.

You can't go around saying "this is fraud"... "This isn't fraud." Well, of course you can, we are a free speech nation, but IMO, this is not a black/white issue. My guess is that on every ticket there is a little phrase which they can use as their scapegoat. Dates, times and availability subject to change. If a person decides to buy a helmet way in advanced for this signing, they are taking a gamble.
NOW, if they did not refund money after they changed the date, then I would have a problem.
Is this bad business practice? Probably.
Is this illegal? Maybe.
Could it ever be proven in court that they intentionally defrauded people? Probably not.

I dont want to start a big arguement over this, I was just saying is lame that they changed the date because they didn't make the money they wanted to. $40 is too much to charge for Cromartie, he's had a good season, not 5 or 6 great seasons in a row. For the hardcore charger fan $40 is not a big deal for cromartie, for the average charger fan they are going to pass. Had they not been greedy and almost tripled the original price they would have made the money they wanted. And if they are planning on getting lots of stuff for the store signed to sell, unless they plan to hold it for 5 years and hope he continues breaking records, they're not going to get the money they want. Think of Jammer, his rookie season he was just like cro, how many people are spending a couple hundred bucks for a signed ball now?
Guys, do we even know that Field of Dreams moved the date because they haven't sold enough tickets, or are you just speculating? I don't see a reason to make a big deal about it if we don't really know the facts. When I spoke with the manager there last week, he told me that Cro called in to change the date. This is not uncommmon with pro athletes, and it's not fraud to chang a venue date or cancel it all together regardless of the circustances. I agree that if they don't refund the tickets after the date change, then there might be something illegal with that. But, they might also have a no refund or all sales final policy as well in which case there would be no recourse. You might also be able to have them get your item signed for you if you can't make it on your own. But, whether Field of Dreams or Cro made the change I think is a moot point. FoD is a business and will do what they have to in order to serve their own interests.
In any case, I'm not trying to defend Field of Dreams since I think their items are priced waaaaayyyyy too high, and if they had a larger share of the memorabilia market autographs would be unaffordable altogether. This is practically what Steiner has done to the market with other companies following suit. I also agree that the prices they're charging for the Cro signing are pretty high concisdering how new he is to the league. But, they have the right to do what they want to and charge what they please, and we have the right to either go along and pay what they want to or not. Right or wrong, it is what it is!

I want to put a stop to all of the rumors about the Cromartie signing. He was all set to do the signing, but a personal matter came about that will require him to be out of town on that date. We have rescheduled his appearance until next month. Field of Dreams was very unhappy about having to change the date. I can assure you all that this is not a case of fraud or anything else even close to that. Field of Dreams really wanted Cro do do the appearance this weekend.

Goodies? None really. Prices get over inflated at these gatherings, if you want something signed it's nearly always cheaper by planning ahead & bring your own item. NSD will be there. They sell all sorts of stuff, signed and unsigned fotos, Helmets, balls, jerseys, etc. I've dealt with them in the past for jerseys and balls. Hopefully they will have some items on sale to move.
As MB said, sometimes the prices are alittle higher, but if they are not able to sell, i guarantee you you'll see the prices fall, they don't want to have to pack up alot of there stuff to hall back...........that's been my experience.
