In an effort to cut down on the number of posts made on this and the Padres Player Appearances thread, I have created a TTM Signatures thread where we can share info and photos of mailbox successes. I also posted web info for various sites which I use on a regular basis.
http://forums.chargers.com/showthread.php?t=55039
The new thread should off-set this one and reduce the number of pages originally intended for this and the Padres Player Appearances thread by keeping it only to player appearances and (in person) autograph experiences.

After several threaders tried to reduce the number of pages on this thread from non-autograph related banter, it appears as though it has now become more of an on-line chat session rather than info about autograph appearances and/or successes. If info needs to be shared between threaders, we should PM each other so others don't have to search page after page for info related to player appearances and/or cancellations.
I applaud jlloyd for his hard work on the LT facemask and see that he has created a thread (http://forums.chargers.com/showthread.php?t=55026) devoted to his latest creation. All info related to helmet/facemask designs, purchases, logos, etc. may be better suited for that thread.
Cheers so everyone and here's looking to future Bolt signings (not cancellations).

Hi everyone,
I have a 2006 Ladainian Tomlinson powder blue Reebok authentic home jersey size 52 available. I bought this on eBay several months ago from another user that had excellent feedback. He advertised it as an authentic, worn jersey (not game used) without the tags, but fully guaranteed it to be 100% authentic – the same ones that sold in the team store for $300+! I wasn’t sure about the sizing, but picked it up anyway since it was a great deal. I figured if it didn’t fit me I would just get it signed later. When I received it the jersey fit me like a dress! So, I planned on getting it signed later on. Shortly afterwards, I found another auction on eBay for an identical jersey already signed that I couldn’t pass up, so I bought it. That one had the tags attached, and I compared it to this jersey. They were identical in every way!
Anyway, I’ve had this jersey the back of my closet for several months, and I figure it is time to find a good home for it. I guarantee this to be 100% authentic, and I invite the potential buyer to inspect it in person before any money changes hands. The only thing of note on the jersey is that there is some slight creasing on the number ‘2’ on the back. This is on account of how the seller folded the jersey in the packaging when he sent it out to me. I’m fairly certain it could be ironed out eventually, but I didn’t want to mess with it and risk staining the jersey. Other than that, I think the jersey would still fare perfectly well if you decided to get it signed, and would be great to wear on your own during the season!
I’m asking for $125 for it, OBO. You definitely won’t be disappointed with it! Again, I’m listing this as a ‘worn’ jersey, although I certify that I have never personally worn it out in public (other than to try it on when it arrived). The jersey has all appropriate Reebok stitched tagging, numbering and letters, and also has the reinforced material on the shoulders to accommodate shoulder pads. This is the style jersey he wore during his record-breaking MVP year in 2006! I condensed some photos on here for you, but please feel free to e-mail me if you would like to more close-up photos. You can e-mail me at: loumud@yahoo.com (loumud@yahoo.com).
Thanks!

Wow! I certainly apologize if I've ruffled some feathers on this forum among some 'experts' by listing this item for sale. I've seen a lot of other threads offering autograph-related items for sale including items to be autographed in the future and autograph tickets, so I didn't think it would be a big deal. In any case, please dispregard my post. The money is not worth the hate and animosity unnecessarily generated by some members of this forum...

Maybe instead of jumping down this guys throat you could give him tips on spotting a fake for next time. And why is it such a big deal if he posts a jersey for sale, I recall cromartie pics signed and unsigned being offered a week or so ago, as well as other things. Could you possibly make someone feel less welcomed?! Calm down people.
loumud
03-25-2008, 02:41 AM
Thank you for that, SouthernCalBolt. I agree, if there's anything blatantly wrong with this jersey I definitely welcome the feedback for my sake and for the benefit of other members of this forum. With the exorbitant prices being commanded for authentic jerseys by the team store and other venues, it's definitely helpful to know how to differentiate between real items and fakes. I did plenty of research prior to purchasing this item on ebay and still believe that it's the real deal. But, I don't tout myself as an expert, and rely a lot on the reputation and feedback of the sellers of many of the items I purchase. I have seen other 'authentic' items offered on ebay, even from local San Diego sellers that had tags attached, and have looked at many in person. And, on several occasions I have been able to identify blaring differences between authentic items sold in the team store and fakes sold from these same sellers. So, any constructive criticism on my jersey is welcomed...

Calm down. I simply told this guy that his jersey wasn't authentic. I could have laughed and really poured it on, but I just wanted to let him know his jersey wasn't authentic.
1. The bolts on the shoulder are off in terms of color and consistency. In the second picture down that you posted, you can see the bolt on the left shoulder and the bolt on the right shoulder are not the same shape.
2. I'm not sure about this one, so I'll have to take a look when I get home, but I'm almost certain that the "Reebok" on the inside tag and also the tag at the bottom of the jersey have a capital "R" as opposed to a lower-case "r." Also, I think the word "Reebok" on the inside tag is blue as opposed to red, while the "Reebok" on the bottom of the jersey is grey as opposed to red.
That's all I can really say from the pics that you've posted. When I got my powder blue authentic, I studied the hell out of that thing to see what the differences are between mine and the fakes.

Now this is some good info! Thanks for submitting this, chonrsinway8. If you could confirm these details with your authentic jersey later on, that would be great. In any case, the evidence seems to point towards my jersey not being authentic, so I'll withdraw any previous assertion that it is real. In any case, it's a pretty good-quality knock off so I'm glad I didn't pay much for it when I bought it!

i also bought a fake jersey once. ill give you a few pointers. i have a real and fake jersey and i compared the two.
if the jersey still has the tags, take a look at the tag. i noticed that my fake jersey has misspelled words. fooball is spelled "foetball", and "international" is spelled wrong. also, look at the nfl logo on the collar. take a look at the football. the real jerseys have the stiches on the football, the fake jersey has a streight line with no stiches. also, on the back of the fooball, (still looking at the logo on the collar) there should be 2 stars behind the top of the football. my fake jersey did not have the two stars behind the logo. sometimes, i have seen jerseys that the bolts are facing the wrong way or are of different color than the real bolts. what i do is go on a credible web site that sells jerseys like nfl.com or chargers.com and compare. also, one more thing, the cuffs on the fake jersey are all wrinkled before the spandex sleve. its like it was stuffed in there. my real jersey's sleves are unwrinkled going into the spandex of the sleeve. i hope i described efficiently. i hope this helped for anyone that was planning of getting a jersey.
on a side note, i am comparing a fake jersey with a real one. i have both on hand and if i am inaccurate in some of my information, them i apologize. i am just going off what im looking at. hope this helps.

i know a lot of people get their jersey's autographed, but arguing about whether or not a jersey is real or not really doesn't fit with this thread. Last time I checked this thread was supposed to be about Player Appearances and Autographs....sharing pics about signed jerseys or a jersey you are having signed is ok, but all of this this Jersey talk belongs in the Jersey thread. I know that there are plenty of those out there if you look for them...lets try and get this thread back on track

Thanks I updated the first page. I usually only go the first Saturday morning practice. It's the most busy but also the most players signing. Have people had luck at the Saturday afternoon or Sunday morning sessions?
I attended last years mini camp on Saturday evening & Sunday morning. It was one of my first attempts at getting autographs & I walked away pretty happy. I got about 7-10 players that weekend.
A word of caution to 1st timers: Mini camp is attended by quite a few free agents/non draft picks. And those guys love to sign anything they can get their hands on. So be weary of players/athletes you don't recognize, lol.

Whoever said that FoD can legally get away with not giving refunds if the signing is canceled because of something on their reciepts that says no refunds after 30 days or all sales are final is very wrong. My dads a lawyer, he said them selling the tickets and us buying the tickets constitutes a legally binding contract in CA. They can print whatever they want on their reciepts or have any policy they so choose but that does not change the law in this state and it does not release them from the contract. If they plan on not giving refunds and not having the signing I will personally sue them for breech, trust me, if anyone who has anything to do with FoD operations knows anything about business law they will not try to screw everyone. If they do they will cease to exist as a business.

I was simply trying to say that, to me, the difference in 180 to 40. that was what I was trying to say, to me the difference in cost is worth it for a good fake. Sorry if I came across as an A@#.

here you go:
http://simpworld.com/cro.jpg
By the way, where did you get that chinstrap?
It's an easily obtainable Adams hard cup hi point chinstrap. LT wears it as well. Because of contractual issues with the NFL, Riddell actually imprints their name on them for the Chargers (in blue) and other teams - and those are virtually impossible to obtain outside an NFL locker room.
Light blue on the bolts looks lighter in the photo, I actually obtained two sets of decals on ebay from different sellers, the other was much darker. As best I could tell from photo matching on Getty, this lighter set was closer. The darker set went on the other (less accurate) Cro helmet I built from a shell I had at home. If I ever get him to sign them I'll ask him which color is closer as I can easily replace either. BTW, an expert told me the real bolts are also narrower than the copies or the Riddell retail helmets.
As for the Taylor decal, of course ALL out there are "fakes", I actually bought one before this one that was less consistent with the real ones the Chargers wore, this copy is pretty close.
Thanks for photo help guys, BTW.

the best way to check on the color of the light blue on the helmet from what i have seen, is just looking at one of your mini helmets

yes, most of the s.t. decals on ebay are ridiculously fake...they are round and fat..where the real one is blocky and tall..the one on your helmet is the real one....i still need shockblockers too..

Hey. This is Kerrstyn at FOD again. I'm feeling that you guys are being a bit harsh in your threads.
The disclaimer at the bottom of your receipt is for general merchandise. That is automatically printed on every receipt. IF Cro cancels, EVERYONE that presents a receipt for their purchased tickets will get a refund. We are not trying to take advantage of any of you in this situation. Don't you think that this is bad PR for us already, and then not to give refunds would be even worse!
We email and call his rep on a daily basis and we have the head of the Dreams Corporation handling this now as well. We are doing everything on our part to get him in here for you guys. I promise, we are just as frustrated with this as you are. We are giving you guys all of the information that we have. We are not holding anything back.
If you can get him at Wal Mart, more power to you. Hopefully he shows up for them. Also, Wal Mart is a humongous corporation, obviously, they can offer more to their customers than we can.
Please guys, I know you are frustrated, just give us a break. We are doing ALL we can. Thank you again to all of you out there that are being patient with us! We do appreciate it. As soon as we know ANYTHING, you will know also!

Thanks for the update Kerrstyn. Unfortunately, there are a select few individuals that have taken things too far on this board. Please know that there are some of us that understand the nature of the business and appreciate your updates (and frustrations). FOD has always been very upfront about offering refunds after each postponement, so I have never had any concerns.
I, for one, still prefer the FOD signing over the Wal-Mart free for all that will ensue this weekend. I will hold out hope that FOD will get this squared away with CRO's reps and will put on a great event.

It looks like this thread has again become an on-line chat session about helmets, decals, and lawsuits. Maybe we can have Random post the phone # for the Pacific Law Center on the home page...

Reticent to respond since it's contributing to the thread drifting off topic, but if you're referring to my helmet, it is a pearl white Schutt Advantage.
Appreciate the FOD update, I know my name is on your list as I spoke directly with Mark on the phone as well as in the store, however, I don't believe I have a receipt as I paid by faxing a credit card form to your store.
Thanks again though for the update, Kerstyn, I don't blame FOD, our friend Cro has cancelled 3 out of 4 of his recent signing commitments, will be interesting if he shows at Walmart and your date when rescheduled.

In the coming months, mini and training camps will begin. As a suggestion, threaders may want to start deleting old and obsolete posts (I did and cleared up x3 pages) so it makes it easier for everyone to follow and find info about player sigs and appearances. There were many old pages where photos were removed and now, all it contains are empty pix boxes. Again...just a suggestion...

I think its not going to be as busy as everyone thinks. Remember when luis castillo did a free signing at touchdowns in chula vista (a hispanic player in a largely hispanic area) it wasn't nearly the turnout anyone thought. I got there a half hour early and was 19th in line. I could be wrong tho, I'm gonna try to get there around 10am with a jersey, full size helmet and team ball, I would guess its gonna be 1 per but like others said it never hurts to be prepared either way. Can anyone confirm the address since I'll be using navigation to find this place, also is anyone planning on calling around closing the night before to confirm he's showing up? I'd assume if he was going to cancel it would at least be the day before. Also, I will for sure ask cro whats up with the field of dreams signing although Im almost positive he'll say he doesn't know, agents really deal with that, but I'll ask none the less. If anyone is gonna get there around 10 wants to meet up let me know, it be cool to have someone to hang out with for 2 hours, haha.

Just got back from the Cromartie Walmart signing, kinda crazy, not too smart having the line go down the aisle inside of Walmart but i guess they will learn from this and avoid doing so in the future. I got my 8X10 of his one handed INT signed, when I got there i was about 30th in line but the longer I waited the longer the line got in front of me and behind me. I'd say by the time I got up there i was probably more like # 70, but it came out great and it was free so that always makes it sweet. Yes, the correct Schutt is the pearl white. I had my logos removed by RealStuff but I understand you can remove the ink with products like Oops! multi-purpose remover. I bought a can but have yet to try it on my second Schutt, the one I built from a white Air II shell I had in the closet. I'll let you know how that goes.

Intresting news tho, I asked cro if he was still gonna do the FoD appearance and he said no, then his agent was like where did you hear he was doing that, he declined their offers, and I said FoD is selling tickets for it, I bought one for $40! And his agent and cro were both like WHAT?!?! Cro said he told them no, his agent said he told them no a month ago, I called FoD on the way home and said I just talked to cro personally at another signing and he said he's not doing yours and never was and the guy says ummm, ummmm, we're negotiating with him. I was like bro I talked to him and his agent they both say they told you guys no they're not doing yours, he said anyone who has a ticket with a reciept come back for a refund. Agree, I feel FOD owes some response to this development since they've chosen to address us here through an employee. Frankly, this sounds like negotiating games with us who purchased signing tickets being stuck in the middle. If FOD doesn't pull this together, I'm not just hanging for $80 for two tickets, I'm hanging for nearly $500 I spent putting two helmets together for him to sign at FOD.
Also for the record the FOD charge was actually slightly higher than Rick Radtke was charging for Cro to sign at a major show not too long prior to the last FOD date. So if there is some monetary dispute, I don't think it's because FOD was undercharging, I think it was a volume issue related to sold tickets, perhaps the huge shows simply can sell alot more tickets than a local FOD franchise.

Went to the signing today and got there around 10:30. Had a great time and just made it past the cutoff I believe. Got my team helmet signed and my friend got my 16x20 INT signed...very very happy considering all the ish we had to go through to finally get his sig...cancelled boat show and 2 "cancelled" FOD signings. Thats crazy that Cro said they never agreed to go to FoD...wow. I guess theres 2 sides to every story but I dont see what incentive Cro would have to lie. Either way, this is definitely a PR nightmare for FOD and I would not want to be in there shoes right now
SouthernCalBolt
03-30-2008, 03:11 AM
I dont think cro would lie, he has no reason too. Him and his agent were both suprised when I said FoD was selling tickets. It makes sense now tho think about it they probably had negotiations and figured they had him locked in, sold tickets, realized they were going to have to pay cro more then they anticipated, raised the price to $40, set the date figuring he'd agree, he declined, they said he had to reschedule, set the date for the 15th, they continued negotiations and once he declined they say he had to reschedule again. Isn't it weird that the first time it was canceled a date was set right away, the next time no date set? Also, didn't kerstyn say he canceled cause he had family problems or something like that? Strange then that when gatorade, a company with big money to spend, sponsers an appearance he shows no problem, it would make sense if the new date was set, but FoD still has no date. Kerstyn actually said before that his agent is not emailing them back, ya kerstyn cause they declined your offer and told your owners no. Cro toll for me is around $1000, thanks FoD, but dont worry I wont tell every single collector I know or ever meet that FoD is amatuer hour.

Yeah i was also there at Walmart, got in at 920 am and it was all good... Got my helmet and Jersey signed >>> and its all for FREE and it was well worth the wait. Cro arrived at 1215 and i had a chance to meet and talk to a few threaders. It is so SAD to see others cutting in line pretending they were part of the group, and as far as group everybody from ther family and friends also showed up. I was the 28th in line with my son and i beleive i ended up close to #80-90 by the time it was my turn. It was all good though....CRO was very original and took his time signing my helmet...i said to him...you know what? YOU DA MAN !!! he smiled and said thanks and then i gave him a high five...
Any ways the plan was to stop by FOD on the way home to get my refund. It was empty (no customers) to my surprise, and when i questioned about the future date? there was a long pause as I was waiting for some other excuse.
FOD's Reply: Dunno:confused:then handed me my refund and said sorry about that and thanks for coming to FOD....
Special thanks to WALMART and GATORADE... I just saved $100 bucks and got FREE gatorade drinks.... :Bolt:

I have had previous email exchanges with Mr. Jorge Salvat, the President of FOD on another matter, as well as having spoken with the franchise owner of the Fashion Valley FOD, Mark Whitney. Both have been very professional with me, however, this info from Cro and his agents is highly distressing as it at least appears we were lied to by FOD with stories that reflected negatively on Antonio. I will wait a few days for some response from Kerstyn or Mark here, but am prepared to contact Mr. Salvat regarding this if it ends up looking as though we were sold fictitious stories and non-existent commitments, then when things fell apart on the gamble, a cover story reflecting poorly on an innocent party was hatched to deal with the customers.
As I said, I spent $500 and alot of time putting together two helmets specifically for the FOD signing. Not only was I unavailable yesterday for the Walmart signing, but at 53 I refuse to get in an unsupervised free line that got out of control and spend 3 hours of my Saturday for an auto. $40 is about Cro's going rate after less than one full season as a starter, and I'm happy to pay that much to avoid a crowd.
Now it appears I have to wait for the next paid signing which could be far away at a show forcing me to get deeper in this hole with shipping expenses and missing out on the pleasure of a face to face with a player that it sounds like was very pleasant to interact with.
Not happy.

yo fellas. thanks again for the heads up on the cro signing at walmart. i got there at around 10:30 and was able to come out with an 8x10 int auto from BAllen. Yeah it was crazy. People cutting in line. Even caught a bunch of people paying random people money to get Cro's autograph. I was one of the last people to get his sig even after all the cutting. Here's a couple of photos from the day.

We arrived at 8:30 and were about 15th in line but by 12:20 when Cro got there, that 15 turned into 40. Their security goons were worthless. All they knew how to do was say "one per person". Chaos aside, Im stoked on my 16x20 and mini. They came out great. It was good meeting and talking to christophersprw and his cuz. Big Props to FLASH21 for tipping us off on the signing.
On the subject of FOD. I wouldn't trust them or Cro's agent(Don King with a long overdue haircut). Just get your refunds and get over it.

I was starting to wonder if anyone was going to ask Cromartie or his agent about the whole FOD debacle. And if what they said is true, then FOD is probably in a world of trouble with everyone who bought a ticket.
However, I'm sorta reluctant to trust what either party is saying in this whole thing, just because this is a business involving thousands, if not millions of dollars, and business is always business. Cromartie is a great athlete, very personable to fans, does a lot of charity work, and takes time to talk to fans at signings. Don't get me wrong. But in all honesty, agents are agents, players get paid to do signings, whether it's by FOD or Gatorade. And businesses like FOD know the consequences of representing themselves unprofessionally in a high profile market.
I was lucky enough to have some free time, and attend the free signing. However, for the sakes of all the people who are currently getting shafted with the FOD tickets, I hope retribution comes soon, wither in the form of the signing, or a quick refund and apologies all around.

Well when I told cro's agent that FoD was selling tickets advertising that they had already locked him in for the signing, cro looked at his agent and his agent had this look like he was gonna sue them hardcore for something or other. I seriously would doubt cro was lying, regardless of what FoD comes up with. He didn't hesitate at all when I asked him, he just said no. I was totally expecting him to just be like I'm tryin or hopefully or something like that, but obviously he's not negotiating, he's NOT doing it, and for the record, it was the agent who said cro told them no a month ago not cro himself, cro just said he's not doing it, but everything the agent told me was right infront of cro. Suprising that kerstyn hasn't responded yet, and dont worry there is no 30 days for a refund when its fraud. FoD is done.

If you can get him at Wal Mart, more power to you. Hopefully he shows up for them. Also, Wal Mart is a humongous corporation, obviously, they can offer more to their customers than we can."
"Hello! This is Kerrstyn. I'm an employee at FOD. We are just as disappointed as everyone else that Cro keeps rescheduling on us. Apparently he is having personal problems."
Just some intresting quotes from the FoD rep, I printed the full versions out and will attempt to locate cro's agent and mail them to him, I love how FoD says cro must be having personal problems, outright lie. Funny to tho that she has walmart can offer more to their customers thean we can, ya, cause they dont advertise something thats bogus.

But then again i may not want to be involved with FOD for now till they clear things up. I am glad i got my refund and now i can use the extra $$ for possible framing. :Bolt:

While everyone and their moms were cutting in line and elbowing each other down at WalMart I went to the Escondido Arts Center for Philip Rivers and got a couple of autos.
2nd, everyone needs to chill out on the 'FOD Drama'. This isnt the 'complaint thread'. Its real simple just go get your money back. They dont owe you anything other than your money. I dont care who said what I dont beleive any of them. I'll hold on to my tickets (w/ inscriptions paid) until FOD says its not going to happen and if thats the case I'll say to them 'nice try and let me know when you guys get something together next time'. IT happens. Its called 'Life'. Come on FOD is not going to take your money and run anywhere. At least they're trying to make something happen. Lets keep this thread on topic.

LTWK: What do you mean you dont believe any of them? You dont believe cromartie knows if he's doing a show for them or not? And how do you figure they only owe us our moneyback, they fraduantly sold tickets and continued selling them, and are as of right now still selling them. So between the 150miles roundtrip to get the tix, the 150miles again to return them, the 2 days off from work, and the jersey because they decided to say he was doing it AFTER CROMARTIE TOLD THEM A MONTH AGO HE WAS NOT SIGNING FOR THEM, and still sold tickets, they actually owe everyone a lot. They should bring in a player and everyone who had tix for cromartie gets it for free plus like a $100 gift card. They never had cromartie, NEVER.

We have enough people in this country with an 'entitlement' attitude. Just get your money back (you dont have to drive down there if you paid w/ credit card/visa or mc bank card) and work out your extra discounts etc on your own -- when you get your refund I'm sure they'll give you an apology - I dont think every employee will line up for your phone call to apologize - I'm sure u can get one or two. What I mean 'thats life' - lets move on and lets stay on topic here. If you want to create a 'Autos Complaint' or 'FOD Stinks' thread go make it. A lot of people that view this thread dont have time to scroll through all the 'drama' for the real info that this thread was meant for. Come on for petes sake.

Also its not a sense of entitlement, the cro signing didn't just happen to fall thru, they never had him and they lied about it and said they did, they led everyone who bought tickets on. If it had just fallen thru I'd say fine that sucks get a refund, the fact that they actually said cro is having personal problems, when in reality, he just declined to sign for them is total bull$#!+, get it thru your head, FoD never had cro, he told them no a long time ago, long before the second "rescheduling" ever happened. Certainly support a fresh thread, but don't appreciate unaffected parties making light of what is appearing as a possible fraudulent business action. That's a completely serious matter, as another poster indicated, that goes beyond a $40 signing fee. People lost work time, gas, and in my case $500 putting together two helmets for that signing. Being upset about that is understandable, and certainly not whining.

Sorry guys I missed it. I'm thinking it's about time to open up a new thread as we're at 100 pages and there's a lot of non-autograph/appearance discussion. Any objections? I'm gonna e-mail Joel and see if I can start one in General Discussion as I don't think this thread is off topic. I understand people being frustrated by the Field of Dreams cancellations. It sounds like they are making good on refunds.
RT-I agree this thread has begun its tailspin downward. It's unfortunate but I support whatever you want to do. When some dig their heels in and refuse to move on to other subjects, it affects all the threaders who have to muttle around the posts to find the signings they are looking for. Several of the threaders have tried to steer those back on course (to player appearance posts) but it has not happened. Whatever litigation or complaints individuals want to follow through on, then do it. I don't feel we need a play-by-play of everything...atleast not on this thread.
That's a shame since mini-camp is only a month away... :(

I don't want to make light of the whole FOD thing, but this is definitely not the proper venue for this type of discussion. I sincerely feel for all of you who have lost ridiculous amounts of money in this whole debacle. Days off of work, helmets, and such.
However, there is no one here that can adequately help on the subject of litigation, unless they are an actual attorney. We can speculate all we want, and say this and that, but if anyone really wants to argue this point, they're going to have to discuss this with an attorney and file a complaint against FOD. No one can just rightfully go in there and demand something from them. However, as I said, we all have the right to file a legal complaint against them, if there are proper grounds for one. Ask an attorney for a consultation and representation, if you guys feel like you really want to proced with retribution.
As I said earlier, I really feel for everyone who has lost time and money to this whole debacle. But this isn't the place to stir up legal action. Keep the thread as it was intended - as a place to share autograph appearance and signing information.

The Phillip Rivers signing wasnt really a signing. He was the guest speaker at a Catholics mens breakfast which included Mass starting at 8am maybe thats why this wasnt posted on page1 by Random Task. It was posted on page 103. I took my chances that he would sign some autos and I got lucky as he only 'signed' for about 15 minutes for mainly kids. I'm glad I went after hearing him speak I have more respect for him. He used a quote from LoNeal, 'Friends are like an elevator. They either bring you up or bring you down.' I'll just leave it at that as I dont want to get off topic here. He did say he would do this again if his schedule allowed but I wouldnt really recommend going to this for just an auto as it was hit or miss on even getting one auto and then depending on your religious beliefs etc.
I also want to thank everyone who posts appearances and info on signings on this thread. We dont want this thread to shut down and I/we appreciate all the work that Random Task does for this thread.

Welp I Have Uncovered The Mystery To The Fod Debacle Today As I Went To Retrieve My Refund. I Was Calm And Did Not Vent At Anybody Because The People Working There I Found Were Not Responsible For This Mess. They Had No Update As I Expected. They Gave Me My Money And I Decided To Look Around Abit, When I Overheard One Talking To A New Employee Stating That They Were Being Charged $45/minute, Which I Would Speculate Why The Increase From $15 To $40. So I Did My Math And Concluded That At $45/ Minute They Were Being Charged $2700/hour And $5400/2hours. When I Had Called Fod Last Week Kerstyn Had Said That 50 People Had Given There Phone Numbers Stating They Had Bought Tickets. Some People Might Have Just Given There Phone Numbers For An Update. Assuming All 50 People Bought Tickets In Order For Fod To Recoup The Cost Of Getting Cro To Sign Assuming That Everyone Was Bringing There Own Item Each Of The 50 People Would Have Had To Buy 3 Tickets At $40 Bringing In $6000 Which Would Be A Profit Of Only $600. I Know There Might Have Been Some Peolpe Buying Items From The Store Like Footballs, Helmets Etc. But How Many People DO YOU THINK Would Be Buying Overpriced Helmets And Footballs. So My Conclusion Is That They Werent Gonna Profit Much And Were Cancelling To Sell More Tickets Untill They Reached A More Profitable Amount. THATS MY THEORY AND AS JIM ROME WOULD SAY "IM OUT", "GOOD NIGHT NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!"
So did you need your receipt?

I will note I've gotten a very different story from Mark at FOD which I'm inclined to believe. My experience in observing agents is you can't trust them as far as you can throw them, and the players get their info on this type of stuff from those agents. So I suggest people keep an open mind.

Hello again. This is Kerrstyn. I just got finished updating myself on all of your comments from over the weekend. I do apologize for not responding sooner, but this is my first day back to work since Thu. I see that a few of you are looking forward to my response. I will try to be as nice as I have been, but some of you are being just down right mean! Thank you to the few of you are suggesting that it is not entirely our fault.
Lets get a few things cleared up: (even though I have stated a lot of this before)
1. IF you have a receipt and you want a refund: COME IN and get one. The 30 days on the bottom (in this situation) means nothing!
~We are not trying to play any tricks on you guys. We are ALL suffering from this. I think SothernCalBolt was sayin something about all the money he has lost......Well Hello! Don't you think we are all taking a huge hit on this as well?!?!?! Do you think this is profitable for us: PR wise and money wise?!?!
2. Props to all of you who received autos at Wal Mart. That is awesome that he finally showed up to something.
~As I recall one of you posting that he has canceled on a lot of other venues as well. Are you writing hate threads about those venues. They probably went through the same situation that we did.
3. The rep that is dealing with us is a different rep than the one that was there with him at the store. The one at the store was his actual AGENT. These guys have a ton of people that speak and schedule things for them. The rep that we have been dealing with has been getting us Cro products since mid last year. He is the one that presented the signing to us. Obviously we happily agreed. He sent over a contract. We signed it. Thats when the avoidance and the rescheduling began.
~This a quote from Mark, my manager, who responded to one of you in an email: "I am aware of the heat being taken, and quite honestly, I am at the point of being more than pissed off, not at the people on the boards, but at Cromartie or his agent or his rep, or whoever has been stringing us along this whole time. His rep, who we have been dealing with for items since about the middle of last year, is the one who first brought this signing up to us, and I agreed to it, happily at the time. He sent us a contract and laid out the terms, and I signed it and sent it back. Since that time, I have received nothing but delay tactics and promises, and I'm not sure which one of them is to blame for it. We have been assured countless times that he will be doing this signing, though always through this rep. The family issues that keep being brought up was the reason given to us several times. Though not getting any specifics, and not feeling that it was really my place to push for details, this has repeatedly been the reason given."
4. Mark is not the Franchise Owner. We are a corporate store. Mark is the manager. We get all of our orders from the higher ups.
~I, Kerrstyn, am responding to you guys through this thread because I wanted to. I just jumped in and did it. Mainly because I was so upset about what you guys were saying on here. Some of your comments were personally and professionally hurtful and uncalled for! Mark has been responding to you guys as well, through me. I write the responses and he adds where necessary. I'm responding to you by myself today.
~Just to mention that yes, some of the FOD's are franchise stores.
5. So, the latest news that I have from Mark: "We are all tired of this whole thing, and I have been told by our president that they will make a final decision on this whole thing by the end of the week, because it's hurting everyone, both our company and the customers."
6. Seriously guys! Are you really gonna take something like this to court?!?! Why waste more time and more money? Why cant we be civilized. My experience on here is that most of you are rational beings. Some not so much. We are trying our best here guys!
7. We DID NOT continue to sell tickets after the 2nd rescheduling. We are NOT currently still selling tickets either!
~Not one time did we FRAUDULENTLY sell tickets. Each ticket we sold was for a signing that we honestly thought was going to happen.
~As soon as we heard of the 2nd rescheduling with no date, we immediately stopped all ticket sales and started taking names and phone numbers. Which takes me to my next point:
8. Yes. We have a list of names and phone numbers to call when we KNOW something worth while to call you about.
~Someone did some crazy math a couple days ago on here. There are 5 PAGES of names, NOT 50 People!
~Once again guys, we had no quota. We are not buying time. We have been operating the best way that we have been able to. Whats the difference in giving you refunds now or when the first rescheduling happened. Either way, we are losing money. Now or then. The only difference now, is that we have some pissed off people.......Now, tell me, how is that in our best interest?!?!?
9. I am on here to give you guys updates. I have apologized a hundred times on here on behalf of FOD.
~When we have any news worth mentioning: canceled or rescheduled, we will go down that 5 page list and call every person with an APOLOGY and news.
I will also post the news on here for you. I thought I was doing a good thing by being on here, but according to some of you this has not been good enough.
10. mvandor: You are more than welcome to post the email from Mark if you would like. He was sincere and honest. I hope you guys can appreciate that.
~Come on guys. Lets all take a chill and give each other the benefit of the doubt. We are sincerely trying our best here with the information that we have. I have no reason to come on here and lie to you. If we were trying to hide stuff I wouldn't be here.
~For some of you, I think you need to go through this and read this twice! Make sure you take it all in cause I think I have repeated a lot of this a couple times.
~If you would like to step away from the thread, we are very easy to get a hold of and happy to give you all of the information that we have.

I would just like to say that I am taking a more nuetral stance on the cro and FoD thing. Obviously they contradict eachother and theres no way to know what to believe. However, had FoD emailed me or called me personally and been making updates instead of never calling or emailing me or anyone else even once I would have gotten less suspicious. I'm gonna keep my tickets in the hopes that it still happens. For the record I can see what FoD is saying being true, but its also hard for me to believe that cro would outright lie, and say that he is not doing it if he was still attemtping to reshcedule. Sorry kerstyn if I was "mean" or whatever, I acted based on info I was provided with, and since I had info from cro and none from FoD it was one sided. I'm starting to think it is more likely what FoD is saying. But kerstyn, when I called saturday after the walmart signing, I aSked if you guys were still selling cro tickets and they said yes, thats why I said that.

Look. I realize a lot of this is he said/she said. We are really trying our best. We have not called anyone because none of our info has changed. We would be calling to tell you the same info you already know. From our stand point we want the signing to still happen. From Corporates stand point they want the signing. I know you guys do......so we are trying our best to get him here for you!
Honestly, do you think that all of these high profile players know exactly what their schedule is at all times. We are telling you what we know, and I'm sure he has told you what he knows.
You have been very quick this entire time to bad mouth us and sometimes about info that wasn't necessarily true, just assumed.
I'm sorry that someone here misunderstood your question. They might have meant that when we receive a new date we will continue selling tickets and that we still have tickets to sell. Either way......we are and have not been selling tickets as of the news of the 2nd rescheduling with no further date.
By me responding to you on this I am doing a service to everyone on the board to keep you updated. Rather than going down the phone list with no new info.
I don't understand how you are suspicious of us considering I have been posting something almost weekly telling exactly what I know and what the current situation is.
I apologize again to all of you for all of this mass confusion and we are ALL hoping to have this solved, either way, by Friday.

I would have done the same if I was Witt. Whole reason for them having these auto sessions is to basically sell cars and give their owners an incentive to be a Lincoln owner...regardless though, if LT was signing for free and we missed it Ima cry.....:(

I'm gonna try taking my car to Witt to have the oil changed in their service department, and test drive a car or two while I'm waiting. Maybe I can get on their "exclusive" email list that way. It's worth a try!

I'm sure 1 of the 200 people that showed up posts on this board. Oh well, I'll try to get him at training camp. Got the stiff arm from LT last year...mob behind me was pushing me into the kids that were up against the fence...he probably thought I was pushing into them too.

REALLY?!?!? Was it invite only? Or was it an open signing, with Witt sending out the info on the downlow?
FlipTreeJ

So, just to get things straight... LT had a public signing, but Witt only let the word out through mailed flyers and phone calls. And some people on THIS thread knew about the event beforehand AND attended. And the information was never shared with the rest of the threaders. Is that about the gist of it?
And an unknown Gates signing, too?

If anyone has any autographed Topps cards of Ronnie Harmon, Leslie O'Neal, Courtney Hall, Nate Lewis, Gill Byrd or Wayne Walker, I would be very interested in speaking with you. I am in the process of finishing up an autographed Topps Chargers card project. Eleven years ago I collected the Fleer (1960-1963) and Topps (1961, 1964-2007) Chargers team sets and began to get the cards autographed. I now have 717/743 cards signed. I am missing 14 signed cards of deceased players from the 1960s (Emil Karas, Jacque MacKinnon, Frank Buncom, etc.) and 9 cards from the 1990s of the names listed above.
If anyone has signed Topps cards of those players, I would trade heavily in your favor, or purchase them if you prefer. Please drop me a PM. Thanks!

The value of an LT auto is $200 and the crowds would be insane if a free signing was announced to the general public making it that less likely you'd get a sig. I can understand people keeping that info close to the vest.
FlipTreeJ
04-04-2008, 03:15 PM
Maybe for some of the threaders, it's "If I can get five autographs, sell four, and four other people get no autographs, that's better than five people getting an autograph".
And I for one also understand people wanting to keep that kind of info close to the vest, if it was a public signing. It doesn't make it right. It just makes it f-ing shady.

its kinda like the Cro signing at Walmart where there were a bunch of people in line trying to get just a single autograph and came away with nothing because people paid random strangers to get an additional 2+ autographs from him. i'm not complaining through. I got mine. Just felt bad for the people behind me.

I think it sucks people are holding back info. I mean if you know a player is going to be somewhere signing, they should post it. If the player is going to be there at 1:00 plan to be there early, like I was at Wal-Mart. I got there at 8:30 because I knew how the crowd was going to be. If you plan on getting 15 minutes before the signing plan on getting shut out.

Before we get too off topic here, remember...there are two rules of thought:
1. Do I share the info and risk not getting there early enough to secure a "guaranteed" sig?
<or>
2. Do I keep the info "close to the vest" and look out for myself?
Depending on which side of the fence you're on, you can argue either way. Some may like it; others won't. It's the nature of the game/business...again...depending on what side of the fence you are on.
For those who remember the Gates signing in El Cajon, a handful of threaders who post on this site were there as were others who don't post but read this thread for the free sig info. Several of us asked some of the people who attended how they found out about the signing because it was handled much the same way as this past LT signing. Their response: I read it on the website.
Sometimes, it's a good thing to post...sometimes not, as there were about 200+ people who showed up for Gates and not everyone got a sig.
This event (LT signing) is over with, so time to move on to the other signings and appearances we know about or are shared by other threaders on this site...

You could still pm the info to the regulars, those of us that show up at the signings obviously not because of the price of resale, ie jamal williams etc. That would keep people being able to hear something and google LT appearance and having this thread with relevent info pop up. But ya, I think it was mainly if I can go get a bunch of stuff signed to sell thats better then sharing with everyone so they can at least decide whether or not its worth it to go wait. I, for instance, would have waited hours because LT is one of the only 06 players I dont have, and with his 1 if any free appearances a year it would have been nice to know. Whatever tho I guess when I hear info I will pm it to people I know would have told me if they had heard it.

I agree, it depends what side of the fence your on. But, personally, I have met some of the threaders and I would PM them to let them know if there is an exclusive, super secret signing. One thing that irritates me is when I am ten people behind, next thing I know, I see 15 people cut because of that one person that has to let his "buddies" go in front. All they do is just "go on a website" and get their info. They kinda ruin it for everyone else.

You are absolutely right, xtra. There are definitely two rules of thought in respect to this hobby. Unfortunately, this thread isn't dedicated to holding back information. This thread is dedicated to sharing information with each other for a common interest.
I understand that some people don't post anything, and just read the website for signing information. I have absolutely no problem with them at all. I just know that when stuff gets posted, I have to show up to the signing a little early.
Then there are people that post every single friggin' piece of signing information they come upon, so that EVERYONE on this thread can benefit. Everything from addresses, to confirmed signings, price lists, tips and tricks of the trade, and even suspected signings. Those members make this thread work. And they get SHAFTED 'cause someone in the know doesn't feel like giving up info?!?!?

Absolute B.S.

So should this thread be renamed Chargers Players appearances and Autograph Thread (public appearances only unless you are deemed worthy by the "regular" threaders) ?
This thread is dedicated to sharing information with each other for a common interest.
Amen
I view this forum, among others, for information sharing. Unlike many who show up for sigs (from my experience and in no way am I referencing anyone on this board), I am always respectful and don't hold a place in line for others to show up and cut in line 15 minutes prior to the signing. I will only request 1-2 items for sig and I NEVER sell my autos.
It is a shame...what was once a childhood hobby is now tainted and corrupted by greed. Regardless of what side of the perverbial fence you are on, the bottom line is collecting autographs....for business or pleasure. Like every aspect of life, you win some and you lose some.
Play hard, play fair.
Just my 2 cents.

This thread is seriously like a soap opera. lol. Anyways, I think we need to remember that most if not all of us "nonregulars/ semi regulars threaders" are willing/want to help if we have information. Sometimes we are beaten to it OR don't have adequate resources to obtain such information.
Anyways, since I guess I'll NEVER get an LT autograph in my lifetime, anyone want to sell me an autograph? What's one less autograph going to do. hahahhahah just messing. :P

I think reguardless of who it is, whether LT or Cromartie, a person that wants an autograph is going to have to show up early. The earlier you get there, the better chances you have for an autograph. Sharing the information doesnt mean that you wont get an auto, just means you will have to show up a little earlier. Lucky for me, i have my girl to accompany me in the long hours of what is "the line" LOL

This is getting really ugly. I really hope it doesnt get to a point where nobody is going to share any information now and totally kill this forum.
I for one would be really sad to see that happen if it were to happen. Its because of you guys I have gotten back into this hobby and let me reiterate how appreciative I am for all the info thats been shared on here. I realize that theres been alot of time put in from getting info and posting it on here by those who post in this forum. And I totally agree how frusterating it is when there are those who come on the forum, take information and hoard their own information and not share with everyone. I for one am a firm believer of what goes around, comes around....both positively and negatively. I know that sounds trite but nevertheless, I think it will apply in this case as well for those who are generous here and for those who are well....selfish

If you're worried about tons of people that normally never post on the board getting the info then pm everyone who's posted in the last month. Then its not "public knowledge" but still all the people on here will have the heads up. Anyway, if you are part of this forum you should know by now you dont get there when it starts, its only a question of how many hours early. I got to the cro signing 1 1/2 hours early (tried for 2 but too much traffic) and was second to last people to get him. I mean the rivers signing with kasim and jackson was posted, so I dont see not saying anything about LT. I have a good idea of who the people were, not suprising that they dont want to explain, thats cool tho, showed your true colors. Now I know at least.

Bottom line is, I personally believe that this thread is a public forum for sharing information. It isn't about regulars and PM'ing. It's about being a part of this thread and sharing what we know. With everybody.
I understand that if someone doesn't have anything to share, then they wouldn't post. But if someone knows something and doesn't post, then this is probably the wrong venue for them.

Hey guys & gals! My parents live right across the street from the new Lincoln High School (where apparently there's a camp going on for the kids with several NFL players), my dad just called me to tell me this, and also said that there's going to be any autograph session starting in 15 mintues (at 11:15 am); I know this is really short notice but someone may be interested in this so I figured I'd post it. I'm nowhere near my parents home right now, so I can't make it.
Anyway, general directions are take the 805, get off on Imperial Ave., make a right onto 47th street, go down several lights to "T" Street where you'll make a left. Follow that and it'll take you straight to the field!
BTW, I don't know who's out there; I asked my dad but he wasn't sure either.

I think I was misunderstood about the pming thing. I didn't mean only pm certain people. I meant pm everyone. What that would do is keep people from searching on google for "LT appearance" and having this board pop up as a result, which would give 100s of people who normally dont come to this board the info. That way nobody on here would be out of the loop but the info is still staying "in house" so to speak. I pulled out the pix and noticed that the sig left an imprint on the glass and not only that, the glass cracked already. You guys have any recommendations for a frame with a 16x20 type matting already inside? I obviously need to replace this one. Do you put any type of adhesive on the back of the photo to keep it in place under the matting? Anytype of protection? Thanks in advance!

If you used double matting and taped the pic in place to the back of the matting, the sig wouldn't touch the glass. You can get frames and pre-made matting at Aaron Brothers, probably Walmart if you're on a budget. I use the Crystal Caseworks frames for most of mine but a 16x20 would be pricey.

Just out of curiousity, what type of pen was the autograph signed with (i.e. black or blue sharpie, silver or gold paint pen)?
Mine was a silver sharpie.

That's awesome! I remember back in the day (about 10 or 12 years ago) I attended the Martin Bayless Football Camp at San Diego High. It was fun meeting the players and getting tips from pros like Ronnie Lott and others. I still have my shirt autographed from that camp.

Hahaha, good one monty. You're a comedian obviously. Let me know the next signing you'll be at and we can meet up in the parking lot and maybe you can tell me some more jokes. I look forward to it, I love to laugh, see ya soon!

Hey guys ... I'll try to start a new thread with the current info this weekend.
That'll be great! It looks most of the threads on the Chargers website defaulted everything back to April 8th!?!?!
It's amazing how lost everyone is without the updated info...
