This would be a great move and solidify our group. We need a good Strong vet to backup WALL and let him recover. Houston was moving the ball and we need a beast in there.

The guy who got cut because he decided the hell with the defensive scheme, I'm going to do what's best for Grady!
Right. Backup. Scheme guy.
Cut McKinney? Cesaire? Whoever?
For a "love me some more me" guy?

John Abraham in tackles for defensive linemen (18) on the team. He led the league in tackles for loss (13) last season.
Jackson sued the team this offseason, alleging it disclosed that he failed a physical because of concerns about his heart during a free-agent visit in 2006. Jackson contended that media reports diminished his value and allowed the Falcons to sign him for less than market worth.
The Falcons and Jackson reached a settlement before training camp that added an additional year to his contract and paid him $500,000 in bonuses. He also will be paid $1 million in base salary this season

he is better than our backups and it would only cost a little cash...I am not talking about offering him a 5 year deal.... just this year.

if we need a DT , why not pick him up for the rest of the year, this is assuming we will need a DT

Who do we cut to bring on the aging overweight DT who has (I believe) played in the 4-3 his entire career?
And after cutting a current defensive lineman, does Mr. Jackson want to be a 3-4 backup and be paid backup money? Methinks not.
Teams that actually do need defensive tackles (think Chicago and the like) will overpay for the overweight DT who allegedly refused to play the defensive scheme employed by his defensive coordinator, leading to him getting axed.

I'd bring in Grady if we could get him in for the vet min on a 1 year deal. Grady would be an upgrade over the current depth we have at DT. Who cares if he has no 3-4 experiance, he's 330 pounds. Just stick his fat a$$ in the A gap and let him sit there on running downs. I mean Mckinney is a project player who still needs some seasoning. Bingham is just a fringe player who the coaching staff moved around during camp because the didnt have faith in him at NT. Cesaire??? This guy would be a horrible 1st and 2nd down NT, the guy is better suited as a situtional DE. He'd get tossed around as a everydown NG, Guy lacks some lower body strength to be effective against the run. Alotta people in here said Moss wouldnt pan out in NE...sometimes a change of scenery goes a long way.

Grady is going to get a multi-year starters contract from another desperate team. He's all about the $$$$ and will take who offers him the most.
He's had five prior changes of scenery over his 11 year career as he's bounced from franchise to franchise. I don't see change of scenery number 6 being any different than the first 5.

Grady Jackson is one of the last players we want
on the Bolts, up there with MeAngelo Hall, PacMan,
Travis Henry, etc.
Jackson didn't like the new coaching staff and just
flat out did not listen to them, doing things "his way".
We do not need or want this guy.
Grady Jackson didn't always play the defense called. In fact, I talked to somebody close to Grady Jackson, and he admitted to that person, "Hey, I didn't always play the defense called ... I had some better ideas sometimes and did the defense my own way."
Now the book on Grady Jackson: big, physical, inside run defender. But throughout his career, not a guy who can control his weight, not a good practice guy, not a good guy in the weight room and off-season conditioning.
I think the Falcons cut him to send a message ... we're going to send a message to the rest of these players. This is not how we want our players to be.

I am not looking to bring him in for a long term deal, BUT an 8 game rent a pro, however if he fits in and we win, why not give him some cake.

Because he doesn't want to be part of a "team".
Like his entire career, he wants to do what he wants to do - and bounces from team to team.
Our backups can be freelancers and play how they want, right? It's not as if Jamal, Luis, and Igor play a scheme.

I am not worried about B GAPS, I am worried about NT eating 2 gaps... and then Igor and LUIS eating runners.

Grady Jackson wouldn't eat two blockers in Atlanta despite apparently being given that assignment. He believes that he's smarter than the defensive coordinator and can do whatever he wants. That's why he's with a new team almost every season.
BTW Jackson signed with Jax to start, not back up:

let me just say this...the whole thing about jackson not believing in the coaching staff...no one on that falcons team believes in the coachin staff.
none of the players like the way that bobby petrino trys to treat his players like how he is back in louisville. i heard that he makes them dress up for games when coming to the stadium.
basically the players are telling management they don't like petrino and his coaching staff, and that its either them or him. and obviously arthur blank is choosing bobby petrino.
players dont respect petrino, you can just see how they just walk away or block out when he talks to his players coming off the field.

So what was Grady's excuse the first five times he got bumped off of the roster?
Jackson's a guy who has always done what he wants, when he wants, the team be damned so long as he puts up his "stats" and gets his money.
As for "none of the players" buying into Bobby Petrino: I'd amend that to a few of the spoiled vets who are used to being able to do whatever the heck they wanted in the country club atmosphere created by Mora Jr. over the past half-decade. Those country club vets will be weeded out over the next six months - and the remaining players will be the majority who as professional athletes "buy into" the coach because it's the job they're paid to do.
Once again, Jackson has been picked up by a team in dire straits due to a big hole in their defensive line as desperate teams can't be choosy in their choice of DTs. Thankfully, the Chargers aren't desperate on the defensive front.

and that's ok with you?
oh poor players.....they may have to wear a tie to come to the stadium.
Atlanta or any team wont win with those types of "me first" players and Arthur Blank is correct in sticking with Petrino.
Seems to me the Falcon players are a bunch of lazy malcontents and shouldnt on the team anyway.

no what i'm saying is...players are grown men. why in the world would they have to act like they are back in high school dressing up for games?
let the players do what they like in the term of what they wear as long as they perform on the field.
bobby petrino is not an nfl coach. he treats his players like college players. he pulled joey harrington for byron leftwich one game and didn't even give joey a reason why he did it. when harrington got hurt against the giants, him, dave ragone, and byron leftwich all stood infront of petrino wondering who would go in.
bobby petrino is so far from an nfl coach. lots of elite college coaches don't do all that great in the nfl. (butch davis, steve spurrier, nick saban) just to name a few.

Because the NFL is a Professional Business so should it not be treated as such?

Just out of curiosity...........
WHo would you cut to make room for him? And why would you think he would succeed here if he couldn't in a much weaker Denver defense?

I wouldn't cut anybody...I believe Castillo's season is pretty much done...I have a feeling they'll put him on IR...I highly doubt he can bounce back this year and play again...I'd rather lose him this year...than rush him to get back in and risk causing a bigger injury...Rice only played six games guy...so of course his humbers are gonna be down...I would much rather have him in there than Cesaire

Castillo isn't done. If you put him on IR, then he is done and out of the playoffs. Yes, I'm talking playoffs and Castillo will be back for the last couple of regular season games. So unless you're suggesting that the Chargers IR Castillo (who will be back in a month), then you have to cut someone.
As for the 6'5" 268 bad-kneed prototypical 4-3 pass rushing DE Simeon Rice (who couldn't play for the Donks), he's about 30 pounds to light to play the 3-4 defense. Unless I want every team to look like the Vikes running the ball straight at Rice on every down for the rest of the season, I don't want to see the washed up Rice playing the 3-4 defense. I'd much rather have Cesaire in there 8 days a week over the 33 year old Rice.
With Freeney going down, 31 teams passed on Rice before the Colts snatched him up on waivers. He is a far better fit for the Colts 4-3 defense, although being a massive drop-off from Freeney.

I'm all for getting another DE as a backup for Olshansky (or Castillo) as Bingham has not proven he can handle the grind. I like Cesaire a lot, so it'd be for the "other side".
