I am a Pats fan. 30+ year season ticket holder. So I know the good and bad.

I am a huge football fan and can appreciate my team as well as others. But over the -- guess I am going to say 3-4 years something negative has happened.

Before this time, many fans of other teams have talked, enjoyed the talk and learned. And enjoyed it.

But now it is just all negative, insults, whatever. Even from the players. It is the way of the world, but I chose not to join.

So, the reason I am writing this is to say, sorry. Not negative, not nasty, just pure, plain, simple sorry.

What were you guys 14-2 last year??? And somebody decides that is not good enough and you fire Marty. Norv? Well, OK. You do not have to be a rocket scientist to realize it was a really bad decision.

So move on. You as fans, enjoy that you have a team. I did when we went 1-15 for 2 out of 3 years. I still enjoyed my team.

And for those of you that want to insult me and make fun of me. Well, fine. Time to mature and realize that you have a team.

Enjoy the game. Football is the last great sport. Just enjoy and appreciate that you have a team.

I didn't quite understand the first part about "3-4 years something negative has happened", but I agree with the rest. I don't get how fans get so upset about a team that's .500+ for the last many years. And a Padre team that won the NL West two years in a row, and BARELY missed out on Post Season play this year (via a 13 inning thriller).

Sure, it sucks to lose, but look it can be SOOOO much worse.

What I meant was how negative people are. It is so much worse than it was even 3-4 years ago. I like to talk football with fans from other teams, but I just don't enjoy it anymore. Insults, stupid talk, etc.

One of the best boards used to be the Bills. Even they have gone to the dumps. I really respect their team and history, but I am starting to rethink it.

Why can't people just be relatively civil. Talk football, not just throw insults. It kind of wears on you after a while.

I just love the game of football. And I loved my team even when we were losing.

Im going to stick my neck out and say it first...youth. Not all, but a majority of the 'new' fans just have no experience with doing poorly. Not to mention that all they know is internet talk and being a net tough guy.

As far as a fan base goes, the best thing for them is to suffer a few losing seasons. That way, they can appreciate the winning ones that much more. Unfortunately, it also makes long time fans go through it AGAIN. As if we havent suffered enough. :)

Why is it that some of the logical posters here are fans of other teams?

I think most of this is true, but I also think people are being more rude by the minute *. And these young kids were given everything they wanted while many children are hungry and have difficult lives. Stinks.

I guess it is a matter of looking within yourself and saying OK, I will not be rude. I am better than that. I rise above it. Whether poor or rich, the best things in life still continue to be free.

* And the absolute most rude people live in Florida where I spend most of the year. And most are older and have no concept of making this world a better place.

Sorry for being somewhat philosophical. Not my intent, but sometimes it just gets to me.

The word I like to use is "entitlement". Americans are increasingly just expecting things to fall into place with little of their own efforts. Courtesy, often a result of appreciation (hard work), is slowly going out the window.

And now, I sound like my grandpa.

I'm relatively one of the younger members here, but I totally agree with everything. Especially with people being "net tough guys"...it's so pathetic.

So a few years ago (about 8) things were pretty good in this country.

Now, not so good. "Tough guys" are the way of the world -- for now.

Things have a way of swinging. I remember the '60's.

The tough part is, holding on to who you are. It really doesn't matter what a fool thinks. Trust me, it really does not matter.

So you are a young person with a mind. Thank you for existing. But, if I can give you my thoughts, do not spend one single moment of your time -- not a second -- on worrying about the fools of the world.
