He will keep the bag until the playoffs start. After that it doesn’t matter until the regular season starts next year.
The question is who will lead us in the playoffs?
Red underwear, SBF.

JTC... I find your lack of faith disturbing.

As previously mentioned, I went on a 10-game winning streak last season with the Patented Boltcorpse Personal Guarantee (PBPG). It took a hex by a New England witch to render the PBPG ineffective.

I am now a perfect 6-0 with the paper bag this season, sir. I am undefeated. Batting 100%. Rather than discard the bag in the playoffs, perhaps we should consider a way to safeguard the bag against possible hexes and/or supernatural powers rendering the bag ineffective.

You are but one vote, sir... I believe the forum members will make the right choice regarding whether the bag should be utilized during the playoffs. As a fair and democratic President, I promise that I will respect whatever the majority decision may be.

The aforementioned being said... the Bolts suck and will miss the playoffs anyway...

We call thee, you who guard the watchtowers of the west
To guide Boltcorpse through the darkness and ensure his safety.
In the shadows, evils hides, ready to draw Boltcorpse’s powers from him.

Send them way, send them astray
never again to pass our way.

The easiest solution would be to wear a velostat helmet (http://www.stopabductions.com/main.htm)on top of the bag.
http://www.atlantis2012.com/foto-forum/2007/helmet%5B1%5D.jpg
Velostat would certainly stop any witch hexes and if it truly is a government conspiracy that the Pats go 16-0 then the velostat is the only substance proven to resist the alien brain waves the government would send from Area 51 to hex the bag mojo.

Solution 2 would be to simply put a plastic bag on top of the paper bag.... just don't forget to breathe deeply.

I’m glad that the Mods have begun to participate in the subject.

My current question is: Is the Corpse leader enough to see all threats and take the necessary steps to counteract them come playoff time?
Personally, I believe that only 'Mod leadership' is capable of the level of competence that is required.
So, I will be the first to say it.

Replace the Corpse with a Mod for the post season run.

As President of the Bandwagoners and CEO of Bagheads, Inc., I am clearly a proven leader. However, no leader can "see all threats." Leaders typically have advisors or panels of advisors for every subject they may deal with. Insofar as the postseason is concerned as it relates to the paper bag, perhaps we should assemble in advance a team of qualified advisors to assist with the issue of protecting the integrity of the bag's powers. You, sir, may be an advisor on this panel. I welcome the advisement of the mods on this subject as well.

Remember, the bottom line is that the Bolts are 6-0 with the paper bag this season. That is undefeated, sir. Batting 100%. A perfect record. I don't think you want to abandon this sort of mojo come playoff time. Let's protect the mojo and insulate it from being rendered ineffective, sir.

Either way that’s a better than 25% winning percentage.

Then factor in that Marty got his teams to the AFC Championship game.

Why did you spend most of the off-season berating the Chargers about how they let you down?
Either you were in control or you weren’t.

Did I say Marty has never won a playoff game? Negative, sir. I only referenced Marty's playoff record since 1994. Do your research, sir. Yes, Marty did win some playoff games earlier in his career, but Marty has 6 straight playoff losses dating back to 1994.

Regardless, the bottom line is that your view regarding replacing me and/or the paper bag in the postseason is substantially outnumbered in this forum. See, this is what I’m talking about people.
BC is in denial.
BC is 6 and 0.
Last year he was 10 and 0.
What happened in the playoffs?
He was 0 and 1.
BC equals Marty.
We all love BC. We all loved Marty.
Are we strong enough to make the hard choices?

The boss has hired me to help dampen your spirits... so i am going to try.

BC may be 0-1 in the playoffs however i must say that like marty the players screwed up and they were both victims of the loss. In boltcorpes case the forum members didnt continue to aid in the superstitions they believed lead to wins. So sir, your argument has little validity.

umm.... it was a witch

another one was defeated after the Kansas City game with a :Bolt:

Then boltcorpe felt he could take the bag off after the Bronco's defeat+.

Then AP really enjoyed running up and down the field all day long on us, just had a terrific time out there he did he did he did.

So Boltcorpse quickly put the bag back on steadfastly.

If I remember correctly, that is.

To reiterate the only facts that matter, this season the Bolts are...

6-0 with the paper bag
0-2 without the paper bag.

A forum poll will be administered prior to the postseason regarding whether the paper bag should be worn by the Corpse during the playoffs. The results of the poll shall be honored by yours truly. That being said, the Bolts will choke away the rest of the regular season and miss the playoffs. Titans 51, Bolts 0, etc.

Mods... recommend locking the thread a.s.a.p. before JTC comes back with any further talk about Corpsie impeachment, God, aliens, Area 51, Plan 9 from outer space, etc...

He is one of the posting-dead after all, which is a likely result.

Exactly.

As I said before...witch hexes are bad news, and generally unforeseen (at least until last year's playoffs) in the American football realm (although somewhat common occurrences in European football, as I understand, but so are riots). I don't see that the failure of the guarantee needs any more explanation than that...we just need to plan ways to counteract hexes in the future, as both boltcorpse and I have recommended previously on this thread.

Even should some of you be unconvinced of this point, and see the playoff loss as somehow indicative of a weakness in the bag and boltcorpse guarantee in general, I would remind you that boltcorpse is indeed 6-0 with the bag this season. I would defy you to find someone who has predicted this season's Bolt performance with any better accuracy. I'm certainly not aware of anyone.

Finally, what else but the BC Bag could have produced the win over Indy? This is the one that clinched it for me. We all watched that game, and it sure wasn't the way we played in the second half. I've loved this team since 1980, but we practically begged Indy to win. Boltcorpse was hexed by a witch, but Vinatieri was hexed by a bag.

That said, I'm not sure that the red underwear thing is such a bad idea either. I think we should all come together, bag on boltcorpse, don our bags and/or red underwear, and build up the sort of bad-ass karma that'll propel our team to a super bowl victory.

I had a collection of dimes that filled an empty Dole pineapple juice can, same for nickle's and pennies and only some dollar & quarter coin's. They put it all in my red gym bag, to funny. They also fancied my white w/black stripe basketball addidas. There was something else, what was it oh I remember they took my first ever computer that I just got in 2004. Reporting live from the downtown Salt Lake City Library. So my post count is gonna take a hit until I can get another computer. Insurance may cover it. will call in the morning to find out. We just got a new apple store in Salt Lake this year. Maybe I will end up going to a Mac. Grew up with an apple IIe. Having my computer stolen is bad but my addidas whoa that is mind numbing. And my old panasonic tv vhs is still there so I can watch the game at home still. They checked for finger prints, nothing. This is not the first time I have run into bad luck in Utah. In 2002 my Raliegh full suspension was stollen in the heart of the city in the middle of the day. When I got back to the bike rack the lock and all was gone. Then I noticed that the rack was not secured to the sidewalk. all you had to do was lift I guess. So it may be awhile before I am back to where I was on this forum, we will see. Ben fun though. Will still try to keep up with pickems. I will not do as well I am sure, if that is possible. I only get one our time slots at the library, and will be hard to get down here often. Sir I have a better idea. we must prevent a vote for the chargers to lose from happening at all. There are 3 ways to stop this.

I see you have a gun good sir *moves the barrel away from my head, and aims it toward JTC in case the safety fails* use it... find all the patriot fans, raider fans, ESPN reporters, and anyone else who wants the chargers to use. I assume you are a good shot, i am sure bag heads inc could reimburse you up to 2 shots per kill... i hope you are a good shot.

2nd: limit who can vote. I am sure other teams fans are watching us in every ally, window, and sewer we pass and they are discovering our secrets. we must make sure those voters have shown they

A. are true bolt fans
B. Have singed the pact to remove he who's name must never be mentioned from existence if the chance ever arises.
C. Have been on this forum long enough to know how powerful the bag is.

3rd. Have all votes sent to myself or another member of bagheads inc. we figure out who's votes are legit and only count those. This isn't American politics...we must make sure that people have some minimal level of intelligence before they vote.

That was just 2 short years ago. Then came the 14-2 season, and the 51-0 predictions, and the self-declared bandwagon presidency. JTC... I find your lack of faith disturbing.

As previously mentioned, I went on a 10-game winning streak last season with the Patented Boltcorpse Personal Guarantee (PBPG). It took a hex by a New England witch to render the PBPG ineffective.

See here:

http://forums.chargers.com/showthread.php?p=1374671&highlight=boltcorpse+wrath+dust#post1374671

The hex/curse specifically rendered ineffective my Patented Boltcorpse Personal Guarantee, sir.

I think what we need to do now is safeguard the paper bag. Please note that none of us, including myself, fully understand the powers associated with the paper bag. At first, I did not believe the powers of the bag... hence, I took the bag off and we dropped a couple of games without it... my condolences, fans.

Bottom line is that the bag is 6-0 this season... undefeated. For all we know, the bag may be incapable of being hexed or cursed. The bag may be all-powerful. It is a little scary to hold such power... but I acknowledge my responsibility and I will do what is necessary to utilize the power of the bag to its maximum extent in favor of the Bolts.

If we can’t make the playoffs at this point, then there was very little chance of doing anything in them anyway.
My question currently is: what are the keys to victory in the playoffs?

This should be a thread on it's own.

1) Win division - this will aid in creating the swagger any team needs going in. (It can beat anyone)
2) Improve speed of pass rush. I think coverage is improving. This can add seconds to pass reads. speeding up the rush capitalizes on coverage.
3) Consistent passing successes. This will move the chains and more importantly get eight out of the box.
4) utilize a wide open running game. Send LT to every possible hole and side with reckless abandon and then mix in Lo and Burner to beat them down more.

A cult classic.

I had a General Ed course at Fresno State called "Drama 62" ... can't remember the profs name. It was held in a huge movie theatre/performing arts center on campus. All we did was watch bizarre movies all semester. Probably the easiest class to fullfill that GE requirement.

Plan 9 from Outer Space was one of the movies. It had to be the ultimate bad low budget movie ever made. Horribly edited, pathetically produced .... yet unintentionally funny for how bad it was. It's actually worth renting for the comedic value.

dead bolt. you would have been exiled from the frontier. when a duel is proposed or in this case a challenge issued, you don't come back and propose a different duel or different challenge. you should be tied to a donkey and dragged into the hills.

I recall your "challenge." "Challenging" boltcorpse to drop the bag at 6-0 isn't a challenge, it's asking someone to give up the only mojo the Chargers have in order to provide you with entertainment. I scoff at your challenge, you silly, silly man.

I think you've watched "Tombstone" a few too many times, but to keep with your frontier analogy, your "challenge" was akin to Curly Bill "challenging" Doc Holliday to just give his guns away to charity and see what happens. On a positive note, for you Rook, you have met the bylaws minimum requirement of 51.0 posts. However, it's not by much. If another Rook shows up with good smack, and more posts, I fear that my support for you will wane.

For the nomination, and so many sheep with blinders on that would follow pres. corpse right off of a cliff (please don't make me remind you that he bet the entire national treasury fund on the chefs last week) I give you a new style Bolt. Wear it proudly our young Rook, never take it off, and ask to be buried with it in the end. :logo

I have been appropriately chastised. In my zeal to respond to the Moekid's sad donkey suggestion, I clearly misspoke. Let the record show that I officially state that the Chargers clearly have independent, self-arising, & self-sustaining mojo. However, said mojo has been significantly more apparent this year when boltcorpse wears his bag.

the junior bolt's a touchy little one and occasionally misfires in his zeal to prop up his alter ego. that said, bags, red underwear, couch positions, rituals, whatever. use em if you've got em. a win today and we will officially be back on track.

I wear the bag for the Bolts and for the fans, sir. I'm a giver. As such, whether I wear the bag should really be subject to forum consensus.

Keeping in mind that the paper bag is currently a perfect 7-0 this season, my feeling is that the bag should remain at least until the Bolts clinch the AFCW... then the bag should be rested until the postseason (pending forum approval via a poll).

Traditions/superstitions only work until they fail.... Then everyone puts away their rabbits feet and 4 leaf clovers and wonders if we lost because we truly were beat...

i'd rather break your spell during this game than when its a super critical game.

Lets start a tradition of getting a beer buzz, talking crap to the tv and enjoying the game. (anyone who doesnt do this, and has in subsequent weeks must immediately continue.)

It's only football folks, and i am sure that our team will lead us to the playoffs. Its not too hard as our division is crap; if we dont make it, we all should wear bags (even the players).

I'm siding with Jubilation on this one. Corpse has devolved into a pagan totem who runs the diamond with wanton abandon (that holds double for BC's dodgy bootlick, deadbolt). The sirrealists need to take back this forum and take it back fast. The post-season looms.

The only question is... How did we manage to win 1 game without the bag?

I put the paper bag on when the Bolts hit 1-3, sir. Since then, the Bolts have won this season only when I wore the bag all week leading up to game day. There were 2 weeks when I took the bag off (vs. Jags & vs. Vikings)... I need not remind you of the outcome of those games.

Yes, the Bolts beat the hapless Bears in SD without the bag, sir... but the Bolts are only 1-5 this season without the bag and 10-0 with the bag. You take your choice.

Here is a point of concern, however... that I think is worthy of mention, folks: last season I went 10-0 with the Patented Boltcorpse Personal Guarantee (PBPG). However, a New England witch hexed the PBPG before the Pats playoff game and the Bolts lost. This season I am again 10-0... this time with the paper bag. I feel that some safeguards are necessary. My agent - Frimples - and some of my associates (dead bolt, et. al.), as well as a team of scientists and anthropologists are looking into ways to safeguard the powers connected with the paper bag as we head into the postseason.

In conclusion...

I feel that now is the time to reveal myself (get your minds out of the gutter). I am the mojo protector. This is why I have so fierce in my protection of the bag, even when it's wearer wanted to rest it. The bag and mojo are interconnected, therefore it must not be removed until the go ahead has been given, which it hasn't been. When the time is right, I will allow for the removal of the bag.
