Eight sit out practice
Quarterback Philip Rivers wanted to practice Wednesday, but the Chargers decided to give him and seven of his teammates more time to recover from a physical game in Tennessee last week. More... (http://www.chargers.com/news/headlines/eight-sit-out.htm)

Encouraging that 17 wanted to practice but coaches said no. He will practice Thursday so we'll see if he's a go for the Lions. He sounds positive that he'll play.
Also promising... "Earlier Merriman had been ruled out of Sunday’s game against Detroit. Turner has classified the two-time Pro Bowler as week to week but was encouraged by what he saw from him Wednesday. “I think Shawne has kind of surprised everybody,” Turner said. “He’s up moving around pretty good. It’s not been that long and he’s feeling pretty good. I think it’s one of those deals we’re going to have to evaluate it on a week-to-week basis.”

Good to hear, I don't mind if he sits out this week but its encouraging for him to be further ahead than realized.

Merriman is so important to this team, His sitting due to injury would be immediately felt, And it'sGood to hear P/R is also up to the task

That would be awesome if somehow Merriman was able to come back this sunday, but Im not sure if it would be worth the risk because were gonna need him come playoff time.
