Thats funny. Cam can be ok if they have a good enough offense. Just hope he doesnt go for it on 4th and 10 again lol.

Anyone else glad that he didn't end up being our head coach?

Which they don't, that's what I was getting at. They've got a good line and running game but they need a fresh start @ WR & QB.

I could see Volek fitting in here for a bit to buy some time for a rookie QB or Troy Smith. He does know Cam's offense.

Former Miami Dolphins (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/clubhouse?team=mia) head coach Cam Cameron, dismissed after winning only one game in his only season with the club, has reached an agreement in principle to join the Baltimore Ravens (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/clubhouse?team=bal)' staff.

Cameron, is expected to serve as offensive coordinator or assistant head coach under new Ravens head coach John Harbaugh, who on Saturday was introduced as the successor to Brian Billick.

I'm sure Norv has something good in mind, however, a guy who was extremely successful here (proven) would have been nice too! ;)

In '06 under Cam - I believe we scored a Charger franchise record 492 pts, in '07 I think we scored about 376 pts - which is a 25% decrease.

In 2004, also under Cam - we scored 446 points, third-highest in the NFL that year and the third-most in team history.

Looking forward to Norv's (and A.J.'s?) choices ..... I'm pretty sure they'll be solid and will help our "O" ascend upward :)

We had a tumultuous season adjusting to the new coaches this year, so a drop off is not surprising. Also, Norv wanted to put the load on PR more so he could prove himself (which meant we deviated more from our red-zone running that we had done before). The offense will be more experienced and balanced next year -- expect the scoring to increase (we also played very bad D's last year).

We scored 412 points in 07. Also you have to consider we had a lot major changes during the off-season which could explain the drop off in points. Also we played better Defenses this year than last. Plus in the beginning of the season Norv was trying to push Rivers because he knew we would need that in the play-offs. LT did have a record-breaking season last year which also skews the numbers.

Over at Pro Football reference and @ Wikipedia (links below) it's saying we scored 492 pts in '06, it's possible these are wrong, could you please show the source that says "412"? - thanks.

Also, I don't disagree with what you and "LightsOut4ever" are saying regarding the new "O" coaches, changes etc. and you make very good points, however, the "D" (also new coach) actually allowed fewer points this yr than last under W. Phillips ...... 303 in '06 vs. 284 in '07.

All I'm saying is the "O" doesn't appear to be nearly as productive "point wise" vs. last yr, while the "D" improved - allowing fewer points.

**Edit** ..... My mistake - I see where the 412 is '07 :o .... sorry about that!
So it's 492 in '06 vs. 412 in '07 ..... about a 20% decrease?

better D players IMO. Godfrey didn't play much, Wilhelm--despite people not being happy with his performance vs. the run, played better against it than donnie IMO. Cro broke out obviously. Our S situation was more solid. Lots of reasons they allowed less points.

That would've been interesting if Marty had taken the HC job in Baltimore.

This only works out if they get a decent QB.

Defense is aging as well.

You can't say that, MIAMI sucked this year. Maybe Cam does too, but that is too much speculation.

Provided they get a legit QB...he did well by us so other than when the Ravens play the Bolts I hope he does well..he deserved much better than what happened in Miami

I guess. If you wanted Cam back because we scored more points under him you have to consider two things. 1. We had a major changes this off-season and it took awhile for the guys to adjust. 2. We played more quality defenses this time around than before.

I wish Cam success in Baltimore as their new OC.

Cam got the short end of the stick in Miami. As far as Baltimore goes, there are way too many holes in that offense that I can't believe Cam will turn it around. Still, he's a good OC.

I don't think he'll have as much success in Baltimore as he did in San Diego for obvious reasons such as lack of offensive firepower (which he had tons of in San Diego) and injury-prone players, but I believe he'll have them in the top 10 for scoring points next year since they have a solid runningback in Willis McGahee and a good group of WR/TE's.

We didnt have LT breaking records left and right this year. Also part of the reason why we didnt score as many points on O was because we leaned more on Rivers to get him prepared for the playoffs and it paid off. Also when it comes to the D we focused on getting INTs this season and we lead the league in that which explains the drop in points alone.

Basically we focused more on the passing game with Rivers which equaled less points overall when it came to the offense.
