this is current from Yahoo's Michael Silver piece on Rule changes: simply couldnt agree more.

"3. Rewriting the end-zone celebration rules
Scoring a touchdown in an NFL game with tens of thousands of people cheering wildly is a thrill that has been described to me as "Ogasmic." So why must the No Fun League go to such great lengths to kill the moment? Other than doing something to taunt an opponent blatantly, like pretending to be a dog and lifting up a leg to simulate relieving oneself on a fallen foe (as the hilarious John Randle once did to celebrate a sack), players should be allowed to have some fun when they score.

For every crusty old stalwart who cringes when a player does a dance or, heaven forbid, uses a prop to display his excitement, there are four fans who eat it up. Creative celebrations such as those conjured up by Terrell Owens (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/players/3664/;_ylt=Al4OVHvH6_275Q6Yrp4POuqr0op4) (Sharpie, pom-pons), Chad Johnson (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/players;_ylt=Am2sOfCPNEZlaXV0IqRLsRur0op4?type=las tname&first=1&query=Chad+Johnson&q=Chad+Johnson) (CPR, marriage proposal), Joe Horn (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/players/3646/;_ylt=ApVOZbRWHbQL9ydKgFg7AQSr0op4) (cell phone), Steve Smith (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/players;_ylt=AgOGRehLsm642Ebxl1sqZWWr0op4?type=las tname&first=1&query=Steve+Smith&q=Steve+Smith) (diaper-change) and others help generate buzz and could even be incorporated into fantasy leagues, with extra points awarded for creativity. Yet the NFL's elders are either a) intent on ensuring that no one damages the feelings of large men in pads or b) utterly joyless. What is this, the East German Football League?"

I want to see celebrations, whats wrong with a player expression emotion when scoring?

Personal view... I have no problem with players expressing honest emotion after a big play or scoring...

...it's the choreographed junk like Ocho Stinko does that goes too far IMO. Be happy, jump up and down, high-five... but leave the orchestrated BS out of it.

I completely agree with the OP. Until the old fogies who make these decisions die off (for a lack of better words) and a younger generation takes over it will probably remain the NoFunLeague.

It is confusing to me why players can't celebrate it is a very unpopular rule and it diminishes the thrill of the game. NFL is about entertainment and they cut a portion out of it.

They can celebrate.

Players should be able to celebrate the hell out of the moment, they just shouldn't be doing anything to blatently disrespect the other team. There still needs to be a display of sportsmanship.

would you include Steve Smith using the ball as a sword (mocking a swash-buckling buccaneer) in that (disrespecting the other team)?

Only if he goes up to a member of of the other team and does it to him. That would be incredibly poor sportsmanship. Otherwise, it's just fun.

Nothing wrong with celebrating a big play. A score or a turnover is a big play. This isn't basketball where there is no big plays until the end of the game or when both teams have scored enough points to be at the end of a game.

Spontaneous celebrations are cool, choreograph celebrations are not cool. If you have to come up with a celebration before a game just in case you might score, and you feel that in order to get extra attention you need to do something flashy. Because for the most part the players doing the choreograph stuff are the primadonna ones that need the extra attention. Not cool with me:nono:(i'm not an old fart either, don't let the geezer name fool you)

flips and breakdances arent always choreoghraphed.

However, if you read off-season moves, where a Charger hires a choreographer, than i see your point.

I forgot what Charger it was, but one went to my brothers work with his coreohrapher. hahaha

I wasn't referring to dance moves but more of the cell phone, sharpie and the H.O.F jacket stunts. Why can't you just high-five your teammates or try leap to into the stands and call it a day?

So, if they DO perform an endzone dance, they'll get fined on top of making some weekly highlight reel... which will only further their popularity and eventually increase their pay. Thusly, nullifying the intent.

Unless that was the intent..?

Horn called his kids on the cell phone, that was sweet IMO (because they couldn't make it to the game because it was a school night)

Steve Smith swashbuckling against Tampa Bay or rowboating against Minnesota is like LenDale Fat doing Lights Out. Go ahead, but at your own peril.

I'm not against TD celebrations because they make me laugh, but all the celebration for basic plays like a catch or tackle aren't cool. Pump a fist and high five someone, but don't act like you won the Super Bowl. But for the end zone, I feel like the person earned the right to dance
