I'm not sure why the old thread (Big props to #59D.BoltFan for creating the 1st thread!) was closed

http://forums.chargers.com/showthread.php?t=34884

the 2nd was waaaaay too long

http://forums.chargers.com/showthread.php?t=41106

the 3rd was longer still

http://forums.chargers.com/showthread.php?t=47053

and the first 4th thread disappeared because of a glitch in the Matrix

but this is the brand new thread for any Chargers autograph and public appearances. There are so many different sources that it's good to have one place where most of the info is. If there is a cost I will try to note it in the description. I will also try to bump the thread periodically and edit the 1st post so that it's current. When possible I will try to provide an external link with more information on the signing as proof. If there are posts from me that don't appear on the 1st page of this thread then I'm shaky on the source. Please try to keep this thread about the discussion of upcoming signings, experiences (both positive and negative) with appearances and pictures of your autograph collections. Be good to your fellow collectors! Remember we're all in this together! Also if possible please delete some of your older posts so it isn't such a big thread and isn't so confusing. If you hear about anything please let us know and I will add it!

Yeah I got an email at work and it said that you need tgo buy like a ticket or something and its like 10 bucks or something and it 5 for military. But you have to get the ticket at the subway in San Marcos. Im going to hit it up. Thats what I read and if anybody wants me to forward it to them just let me know. Even if thats the case, thats still cheap to get Shawne Merriman.

Is this place open already? IE can we go in today and buy a ticket? Dang 10 bucks is a steal compared to what it was at UD last year.

Does anyone who has merriman/subway info know if they are selling a limited number of tickets? Ie, everyone who has a ticket will get any autograph type thing? But ya I'd count on the lightsout #56, but who cares, better then having to fight a mob at training camp for the same auto!

Stopped by the Subway today and got some info...from what I gather, its a festival type of thing thats sponsored by Subways thats going to be held in the San Marcos civic center. The 10 dollar ticket gets you into the event and Im not sure how autos will work. The ppl at subway didnt really have much information but the thing is "sponsored" by Merriman and Jaques Cesaire. Its definitely worth a shot heading down that day but Im not sure if its a organized type of auto signing like the Jamal Williams thing was.

I bought a a few tickets and the cashier recorded some info that was in the tickets I purchased so take that for what its worth. Oh and Chris Chamber's name was on the flier too but it didnt explicitly say he was going to be there. I dont remember what the flier said verbatim but it was implied Merriman and Cesaire would be there for sure.

Jason Taylor? Him and Merriman at the same time? This will be fun. Maybe Shawne will bring that stick he used to knock that guy out on WWE the other night.

Hey everyone I have an official update for everyone on the Subway event. The event is a charity event helping our wounded military and their families. There are tickets available at the Subway where the event will be taking place. 133 N. Twin Oaks Valley Rd. San Marcos Civic Center. You can also buy tickets the day of the event. The event is on June 14 from 10 till 3 with gates opening at 9am. Merriman and Cesaire are hosting the event along with Wee Man from MTV. top skaters and bands will also be at the event. Many other Charger players will be there and also Eric Dickerson. Jason Taylor is not confirmed yet. $10.00 ticket gets you into the event, a 6 inch Subway sub and a 21 oz. Coke. What a deal, they are expecting thousands to attend. Come early or stay over night. No one wants to miss this event.

MORE SUBWAY EVENT INFO. All the players that will be there will be signing! With the amount of people it will probably be one item per player. They are also having Danny Way and Colin Mckay along with Wee Man signing. There is going to be silent auction throughout the day for some Charger Jerseys, Footballs, Skateboards, Guitars etc. BRING YOUR CREDIT CARDS for this event.

I'm pretty sure that the people in line first will have the best chance to get the early autographs. Similar to the Jamal Williams signing at the other Subway. It was mentioned before that we can camp out overnight if we want. This is going to be GREAT!!!

Dont encourage ppl Bugsy! haha

Yeah this event is looking like a great opp to get some sigs from some great players. Im already excited!

Btw, are you helping in promoting this event? Or are you relaying information. I was under the impression that you were working for the organizer.

Btw, so having a ticket doesnt guarantee a sig right? Have to lineup like the free promotions in the past (JWill at Subway, Cro at Walmart etc)

Hey everyone! Merriman and all the other Chargers will be signing autographs! So will Wee Man, Colin McKay and Danny Way. Maybe even the bands that will be performing. The players will be signing for about 2 to 4 hours! Not the typical 30 minutes to an hour that you normally get. I got this info. from the owner of the Subway that has put this whole event together. I hope everyone gets this message.

would anyone do a 50/50 for that subway event for me?

captainbohica
06-04-2008, 12:28 AM
what chu mean 50 50?

a term i learned over on SCN for TTM sigs....

lets say you're hitting up an event to get some sigs... i would send you 2 mini helmets (or 8x10's or whatever) to get signed... one for me.......and one for you... for your troubles.

captainbohica
06-04-2008, 12:35 AM
id do it, but most of the time when they would only sign one, i would keep that one

thats the only problem with the 50/50... but i think the free item for the person getting stuff signed should be an incentive to make a concerted effort to get the other one signed.

Anyone going to the 7th Annual Shoot to Cure HD tonight or the event Saturday morning?

I went to the event. There were around 20 Chargers there. Not as good as last year. Gates was not even there because he was attending a graduation in Detroit, which is completely understandable

Some of the Chargers there were V. Jackson. D. Sproles, S Phillips, M Goff, K Dielman, and A. Pinnock

Even though the Subway event will be a LARGE event, I can assure you that this event will be different than any other you have attended. There will also be other Charger players attending. See everyone there. Get your tickets early.

Were they signing?

Gates has a kid old enough to graduate high school??? I didn't even know he had a kid!

I could have heard his recorded message wrong. While he did say graduation could have been for someone else or maybe its preschool graduation :)

They were auctioning off 20 panel footballs that would allow you take your picture with the Chargers and have them sign the football. I have purchased the football for that past two years. It is a win-win situation the money is for a good cause and I get a professionally done photo and signed football with little trouble. Because the Chargers are mingling with the people at the event they ask people not to bother the Charger players for autographs; however, I did see them signing some autographs. They were more then happy to take individual pictures with you and talk about the upcoming season.

Subway Event Update!
Autograph signing will be taking place during the event. They will last at least 2 hours, maybe more. Some players may sign at different times depending on how many attend. There may be players at different booths around the event. Confirmed are, Cesaire, Merriman, Naanee, Scifres, McNeil, Jammer, Castillo and Eric Dickerson and they are working on more! Also, Wee Man, Colin Mckay and Danny Way will also be signing. There is also a silent auction with Charger items, skateboarding items and
music items. They are also accepting credit cards! See everyone there. It's for a great cause. By the way did anyone see the interview on CS Keys, that Sunday sports show last night? The owner and Cesaire were on talking about the event.

The US Open was fun getting a lot of autos today... Jim Furyk, Campbell, Donald and a dpzen or so others. Practice rounds are the best for autos. One sport that they dont mind giving autos! (except Tiger but its understandable like LT but multiplied) I tried to tell Tiger I wouldnt sell his auto but it didnt help.

Looking forward to the Subway deal - finally a good signing I can almost walk to instead of driving to like Chula Vista or somewhere down there.

the subway event was ok, when i got thru the line i found out castillo was there so too late. the raffle....was totaly crap. i asked the workers what they were raffling and they said charger memorabilia like jerseys, hats, and tickets to the game. well, we stayed and they raffled off subway sandwiches and white t-shirts with dc on the back. considering my group bought 40 tickets i was expecting better prizes, but o well, went to a good cause. so i cant complain.

anyways whos planning to go to the fair to see merriman? on the fair website it says hes going to sign autographs, but yet again so did the subway event and hes only being there for an hour.

I too was dissapointed that some players didn't show up. Subway was told they were coming then Chambers had an emergency in Cleveland, but he did donate a signed jersey. He didn't need to do that. Merriman told Subway he would sign and then his people said that he couldn't because of his contract with Upper Deck. Dickerson missed his flight from back east and did call to apologize and even offered to auction off a day to spend with him is LA, with lunch and to hang out. No one even bid on it. The event was an attempt to do the right thing, but when athletes are donating their time you can only expect so much. I am sure the Subway people are just as upset, and I'm sure they lost money trying to do the right thing by giving back and making an event for all intended purposes to be fun for all. For the most part is was a good day, if you look at the big picture.

do you guys think that yesterday all the star players knew that they wernt signing i think we should be blaming the subway store for false advertising considering dickerson and chambers we supposed to be confirmed

Remember folks...this was a FUND RAISER for a good cause. The fact that some of the Bolts appeared should be the icing on the cake. I know it's not the "BIG" name players everyone hoped for but none the less...they are our beloved BOLTS!

I have been to enough of these events to know that if you get your hopes up too high, you will be in for some major disappointments. Unfortunately I did not attend as I was spending time with my family doing other activities. Fans should have known with all the publicity and web exposure it got, there were bound to be some heartaches.

As for false advertising...come on...I have been fortunate to attend several NFL experiences (including this year's in Phoenix) and players were canceling or changing times hourly and they are employed by the NFL. Mike Ditka's fund raiser to benefit former players in need had players CANCEL on him and this is a HOF coach with a SB ring. When it comes to these types of events, take the info with a "grain of salt" and hope for the best but be prepared for the worst. Again, I do not want to understate the importance of events such as this but schedule changes/cancellations occur all the time when your a celebrity.

I'll get off my "soap box" and I hope, that despite the disappointment of some, many of America's fallen and injured protectors of freedom and their families benefited from everyone's generosity today.

I went to the Shawne Merriman's San Diego Fair appearence. He was a little late but he did a quick 15-20 min. question and answer session with the 50-75 fans that were there and then signed autos for about 30 minutes. He took a lunch break for about 20 minutes then saw him get back to his lights out foundation booth and signed more autographs for the fans. Merriman was in a good mood taking pictures (mostly with young children) and signing everything in front of him. Remember guys JUNE 20 will be Chargers Day (says on the website players and coaches wil be appearing) at the fair hope to see you guys there.

If you want to take the sig completely off, try using "cleaner wax" for cars. I bought a generic brand that came in a maroon bottle and a few of those circular pads that you use to wax your car from Target. Works pretty well but you have to scrub for a bit.

Hey. Anyone know how to take a sig off of a full-sized helmet? Part of the sig is a little sloppy. Just trying to clean it up a little.

Here is the list of Chargers going to be at the fair on Friday.

Several Chargers players will be here between noon and 6:00PM. Please check at the Summer of Sports Exhibit for specific times. The Chargers scheduled to appear are strong safety Tra Battle, defensive ends Luis Castillo and Jacques Cesaire, linebacker Tim Dobbins, running back Andrew Pinnock and center Cory Withrow. At approximately 5:00PM, 20 rookies are scheduled to appear, including the Chargers' first-round pick, cornerback Antoine Cason

Between the 2 I'd probably go with sproles because cason will probably be more willing to sign at training camp. Also tho, they dont make anyone sign anything at training camp, there are players notorious for being d*cks to the fans at camps, the club doesn't care, the coaches/managers aren't the pr reps, but I'd bet you could get cason at training camp pretty easily.

he or she just wants to show their store, that Lt auto on that mini helmet looks fake as hell by the way :D

JT Sports Collectibles issued the COA and I do believe they're a reputable dealer on ebay with a physical store. Auto does not matchup with his recent ones, but LT used to sign MUCH differently up until about a year or two ago. I have an old and a recent LT signed helmet and jersey and they look VERY different, but are both from reputable sources.

That LT mini sig is hard to see in that pic but does look like the old sig. Sorry, has nothing to do with signings, mods should knock off the post.

If you're a Team 1090 member with 1000 points to burn, you can redeem them right now for a free ticket to the Sports at Lunch, July 11, John Lynch and the NFL. This was as of 7:52 this morning. I'm not sure how many tickets are available or how long they will be available for. I wish I could go, but oh well. Hopefully someone here can use it and get a Lynch and O'Connell auto.

Description:
John Lynch, a Super Bowl champion and nine-time NFL Pro Bowl safety from Torrey Pines High, will speak at Sports at Lunch in his hometown on the eve of NFL training camps opening. As a special feature to the event, Lynch will welcome San Diego State quarterback Kevin O'Connell, a third-round draft pick by the New England Patriots, to the NFL. Good luck in gettng that. You should just get it at CJ Sports. There's an Antonio Cromartie signing that's going to happen there. I talked to the owner of CJ's and he told me that Antonio plans to not sign during training camp or the regular season. He is currently with the marketing firm GTSM. This will be his only signing this season. The prices are also reasonable. For more info, check out the link:

Dude, all you have to do is ask. If you paid for the inscription fee I'm sure there wouldn't be a problem. Sometimes players will not put some inscriptions, but it's specified under the signing promotion. If you buy the ticket and if you don't show up, then your outta luck. Are you a noob? Did anyone go this afternoon?
I attended the Sports at Lunch at the Hall of Champions on Tuesday, 7/15. It was announced that Fred Dean would be enshrined as the 34th member of the Chargers Hall of Fame on October 12th. Dean will join 12 members of the Air Coryell Chargers to be named to the Chargers Hall of Fame.

The lunch was not as crowded as the last one I attended (Coryell/Fouts/Sipe). There were about 100-120 people in attendance. Fred Dean was joined on stage by two of his closest teammates from their Air Coryell days -- defensive tackles Gary Johnson and Louie Kelcher -- while former Chargers player and current Chargers radio analyst Hank Bauer served as the moderator of the event. Members of the Spanos family and the Chargers organization were there as well as former Chargers players Willie Buchanon, Ed White, Pete Shaw, Ralph Perretta, Jim Laslavic, and HOFer Ron Mix.

It was cool to watch old footage of Fred Dean and listen to the players re-live their Air Coryell days.

Attached are some photos from the event.

The Sports at Lunch was a great opportunity to land autographs from Charger players from the Air Coryell era. They were all friendly and willing to sign anything you presented to them. Items that I had signed were my full size team helmet, authentic team football, two mini helmets, a team photo, a Charger Power litho, and a few cards.

Below are photos of some of the items:

The following are other possible inscriptions for the Cromartie signing:

"NFL Rec 109 Ret TD"

"109-YD FG TD Return"

"3 INTs vs Colts
11/11/07"

"3 INTs vs Peyton Manning
11/11/07"

"Crime Time"

Thanks. I think I'm actually going to go with "3 INTs vs Peyton Manning 11/11/07".

Im not sure what color sharpie to use im not sure if black will go good right now im heading with silver, anyone think something else will go better?" here a picture of the picture im gonna bring

I would probably go with a gold paint pen with the inscription on the upper left side and his auto on the lower right side. If your photo is a 16x20, you might want to consider going with broad line tip Deco Color opaque paint pen. This pen can be purchased at Michael's or Aaron Brothers.

Hey bombsaway...that team photo is badass!

Thanks LnC! I'm glad you appreciate vintage Chargers memorabilia.

I was lucky enough to obtain this hard-to-find Chargers team photo just before the Coryell/Fouts/Sipe Sports at Lunch in May. The 1981 Chargers team was the last one to win a division title during the Air Coryell era. Although I missed obtaining Fouts sig on this team photo, I did land a nice Coryell auto at the bottom center of the photo. At the Sports at Lunch on Tuesday, I was able to get autos from Louie Kelcher, Hank Bauer, Ed White, Gary "Big Hands" Johnson, and soon to be HOFer, Fred Dean. I plan to add Charlie Joiner to this photo on Saturday. One other interesting piece of info regarding this team photo was the fact that Fred Dean was traded to the 49ers during the middle of the 1981 season right before the team photo was taken. Thanks Gene Klein for letting him go and significantly impacting the Chargers ability to win a Super Bowl during the Air Coryell era.

Because of the length of the inscription, you might want to break it down to 2 lines. I would have the date on the 2nd line centered with the 1st line. Just a thought.

Quick opinion, guys. If you had a full-size throwback helmet with Fouts, Joiner, Coach Coryell, and Winslow on it already, would you keep it that way, or add other (yet lesser known) players of the era, such as Big Hands or Fred Dean? Basically, would you rather have a helmet with just those 4 players, or an Air Coryell tribute helmet?

Who do you guys consider members of the "Air Coryell" team?

BombsAway
07-19-2008, 01:59 AM
That's a good question. I think of Fouts, Winslow, Muncie, Joiner, Wes Chandler, Louie Kelcher, Little Train James, Rolf B., Russ Washington, Doug Wilkerson, Russ Washington, Ed White, Don Macek, Hank Bauer, Big Hands Johnson, JJ... mostly offensive players.

I have this game where when I close my eyes I think of what uniform a player is wearing. With Fred Dean I think of him as a Niner.

You probably consider Fred Dean more of a Niner than a Charger because he won two Super Bowls with the Niners. However, the Chargers won three division titles during the Air Coryell era (1979, 1980 and 1981) and Fred Dean was a member of each of those teams. San Diego's defense collapsed after Dean was traded to the Niners during the 1981 season, giving up 40 points in a loss to the Bengals in the regular season, and 65 total points in playoff games vs. the Dolphins and Bengals. The Charger defense would not return to the top half of the NFL rankings again until the unit was rebuilt in the late 1980s. It is safe to say that without Fred Dean, the Chargers probably would not have won three straight division titles during the Air Coryell era.

Basically, would you rather have a helmet with just those 4 players, or an Air Coryell tribute helmet?

This was my dilemma at Tuesday's Sports at Lunch. I brought my full-size authentic Chargers helmet which already had Coryell, Fouts, Joiner and Winslow's autos on it. With several Chargers from the Air Coryell era in attendance, I decided to make my FS helmet an Air Coryell team helmet. I have 4 Charger HOFers (Fouts, Joiner, Winlsow & Dean) and Coach Coryell on one side of the helmet, and the other Chargers (Muncie, Kelcher, White, Big Hands, and Bauer) on the other side. It looks awesome.

To honor the most explosive and exciting offenses that ever set foot on an NFL field, I decided to create an Air Coryell mini helmet with autos from only Coryell, Fouts, Winslow, Joiner, Jefferson, and Chandler. I currently have a mini helmet with sigs from Coryell and Fouts. I plan on adding Joiner's auto to it this weekend.

Just returned from CJ's. All in all, a pleasant experience.

Saw Charlie Joiner there as he finished up his signing (looks like he could still play and he must be 50 at least), met fellow forum member BombsAway, and was surprised how fast I got in and out. Arrived 30 minutes early and the longest wait was checking in to get my receipt and signing ticket.

Cro arrived and started early (made up for my FOD inconvenience), I was about 12th in line, and the line flew. I was actually out the door a few minutes before 1:00 p.m. - the scheduled start time.

Got alot of very nice and flattering comments from other fans about my custom Cro helmets, which made the effort and expense worthwhile. The icing on the cake though was when I put the first of the two in front of Cro for signing, and he reacted surprised and said "that's my helmet!", looking at it carefully and showing it to the person sitting next to him. It was very gratifying.

He seemed rather quiet but very down to earth, laughed courteously at my weak effort at a joke, and made it a generally pleasant exchange. Seemed like a good guy which is always a plus.

The Cromartie signing was nice. It was very smooth since he started so early. He politely declined my inscription request ("I own Peyton!"), but I kind of thought he would. No big deal. My 16x20 came out nice. It was well worth it.

Had a great day out at the signings today, Joiner was late to arrive, but i was in the B group anyways so I was expecting to wait. Cromartie actually showed up and snuck into the back before Joiner even got there. Joiner was nice and i wished him luck and told him not to go to hard on our receivers in Training Camp. Cromartie was cool, kind of quiet, and I asked him if he was planning on selling any of the custom shirts that he was wearing. (Red w/ the famous INT outline) He said no its just for me. Nice to see a few of the fellow threaders out there. I also won a Mark Loretta Signed card in the raffle after the Joiner signing ended. heres a few pics of what i took away from the day.

theyre called rumors for a reason. you should have asked him if he was planning on signing at all during camp. stupid comment/questions get stupid remarks right back, and there seems to be a whole lot of those lately. saying cromartie is not gonna sign for sure is just stupid. thats like saying Derek Jeter doesnt sign at games, yet, i saw him signing a whole bunch during the all star game

Yeah, like all the rumors during Spring Training from the "Padre insiders" who said Jake Peavy wouldn't be signing this season, making any free appearances, or signing the Cy Young inscription. All of that turned out to be BS.

Maybe the rumors were started by Cro's promoter who was trying to sell more tickets for the signing?

Although he was about 45 minutes late to his signing, the autograph line went pretty fast lasting only about 35-45 minutes.

I was able to get autographs on my Air Coryell mini helmet and football, 1981 Chargers team photo, and my Charger Power litho.

As many of you already know, this HOFer is class act. He talked to his fans and posed for many photos. Thanks Mr. Joiner!

As previously mentioned, Antonio Cromartie was a quiet guy. He did not socialize with the fans as much as I thought he would. I found out later that he signed about 500-550 items in the back room before he started signing items for the public. He was probably really tired and wanted to get through the fans' items as fast as possible.

Before he started signing autos, I said what's up and asked him when he would be selling the t-shirt he was wearing. He kindly said that it won't be for sale since it was made especially for him. The shirt reminded me of the Air Jordan logo (check out the photo below).

I was fortunate enough to get autos on my 2008 Pro Bowl mini helmet, Charger team helmet, NFL authentic football, 16x20 photo of the 109-yd TD return, and 20x30 canvas print of the one-handed interception with the "Crime Time" inscription.

NOTE: Cromarie recently signed with GTSM and now has his own hologram. It is a very simple hologram with "ANTONIO CROMARTIE" printed in black with "GTSM - GT Sports Marketing" in the background in white. I think he should create a hologram with the silhouette of his one-handed interception. If he has another awesome year, which I expect, watch for his auto prices to skyrocket and be near or over the $75-85 price range.

I'm sorry but I didn't realize I had to justify or explain my autograph expenses to anyone on the thread.

Unlike some threaders on this forum, the items I get signed are for my own personal collection and are NOT sold on eBay.

Instead of worrying about other people's expenses, you might want to ask yourself why you paid almost $600 for basically two (2) identical custom 2007 Cromartie helmets and then spend another $100 to get them autographed? I would think one custom 2007 Cromartie helmet would be enough in any sports memorabilia collection.

The GTSM representative (the Hispanic guy with the white polo shirt) was giving them away after Cromartie signed your items. You had to ask for it before you left the table. The only reason I knew about it was because I saw him give one hologram to the guy before me. The GTSM rep was not advertising the Cromartie/GTSM hologram because he did not want to take any COA business away from CJ's. Your COA from CJ's is probably better since your item will be listed in CJ's database.

This is very unfortunate. I has no idea about the GTSM sticker. I understand that they were trying to help out CJs, but CJs should have promoted the GTSM sticker as well. The GTSM sticker is more globally accepted and for insurance purposes can be a big help.

All in all, I had a good experience, but I am very dissapointed to learn that the GTSM stickers were being held back.

This isn't necessarily a Chargers post, but the Comicon is a San Diego event so it might still apply. Hey, does anyone else have any intel on what other celebrities are going to be signing at the Comicon (besides those that are listed on the website)? Comicon is notorious for not having a comprehensive list of what celebrities will be there promoting certain companies and comic labels down on the ground level. They have a list of the organized signings on the upper level, but never anything about what's going on below. Anyway, please feel free to post or PM me if you have any info. Thanks!

Btw, Tera Patrick signing went very smoothly. I think I saw Harrid there but didnt get a chance to introduce myself because I was working the booth. Overall though she was very nice got to chit chat wtih her for awhile. Fun also being on the other side of the barricade for once.

Yeah, I was there. It did go very quickly, once she arrived. She was about 1 1/2 hours late. loumud had to run to something else, but Tera signed a second photo for him after I pleaded with her. It would have been nice if she could sign some outside items (I brought some nice 8x10s), but the photo that was provided was nice. All in all, it was a good experience and damn she is hot.

I'm really just hoping on the few I go to, I will be able to score.. Does anyone know who normally signs at Fan Fest?

gochargers.21
07-29-2008, 08:55 PM
At least years fan fest I managed to get alot of sigs but no superstars. Last year I got, Igor, Castillo, Binn, Mcree, DFlo, Bingham, Mrusckowski, Manumanuleuna, Volek, and Whitehurst. I dont remember anyone saying they landed any superstars.

If your going, you gotta bring a kid (required to get on field) and prepare for a large crowd...not the safest place for kids because of all the pushing and shoving....kinda ironic.

I went to the San Diego Sports Card Show last night and picked up a flyer for the last two monthly card shows coming up on September 5th and October 3rd.

As listed on page 1 of this thread, Earl Faison, a Chargers HOFer, will be signing autos on 9/5 from 6 PM - 7 PM ($3 per auto). Forgive me for even mentioning this, but Ben Davidson, the former Oakland Raiders legend, will be signing at the show as well from 7 PM - 8 PM ($5 per auto). I thought it was important to mention the second guest so people can be prepared to do some trash talking with those Raider fans. :)

The 10/5 show is being advertised as the San Diego Chargers Super Show. Former Chargers from the Air Coryell era scheduled to sign are Pete Shaw, Doug Wilkerson, Russ Washington, Rey Preston, and Willie Buchanon. CJ's will be adding more former Chargers players from the '60s, '70s, and 80's to this list. Ed White, Don Macek, Walt Sweeney and Paul Lowe are examples of other players that could be added. Prices of the autos are TBD but should be in the $3 - $10 range per a card show rep. This will be another great opportunity to meet some of the other members of the Chargers Hall of Fame.

i liked fanfest even though it may be for amatuers, great atmosphere nice view of practice, didnt get much autos jus 2, too many bandwagons who didnt know who most of the players even were and people in the front gate getting mad cuz people are pushing and they brought there kids, but me and a couple buddies went to the hotel afterwards where they stay at, we got goff, chambers, buster, mercowzki, hart, and we almost got cromartie, but we got kicked out before he came back because he told us hell sign for us but he needed to do somthing first so we were gonna wait but security came so, oh well but we got alot more players than i listed, jus need to look in my 08 yearbook, great day :D

Dont worry about other people so much. Just because someone doesnt know who a certain player is, doesnt mean they are a bandwagoner. You should try and rise above that kinda stuff.

I thought there would be more boardies at Fan Fest but maybe the Padres appearances kept some of them away. Oh well I look forward to getting back to training camp on Tuesday.

Those of you who went to night practices in the past how did they enforce the 14 and younger autographs? I usually try to defer to kids when I'm at training camp but I still want to get some myself.

The past several years, the players came over to the fence lines and began signing around 6:30 pm. Although it's advertised for kids, many of the players signed for "kids" of all ages. LT, however, tried to accomodate more of the kids than adults. It can be a zoo around the bigger name players so you may have to "target" certain players in the 30 minute window that's given. Also, many of the players DID NOT sign for the full 30 minutes. Last year, LT signed for about 10 minutes and kept moving along the fenceline, jumping from place to place.

it would probably work better on the '06 cause it won't smudge. just spray it on the pen mark and rub it out. just be careful, don't get it on some of the valuable sigs.

Hmmmm, I'm not doubting that it works, but I wouldn't spray it directly onto the helmet if there are other sigs nearby. Spray it on your cloth and use that to rub the area to get the ink out. You can also try a white eraser first to see if it will work, but you have to go at it for a while. I've had some success with that on mini helmets. Either way, don't be afraid of using a little elbow grease to get it out!

Honestly, if you use a tiny bit of peanut butter, the silver will come off easy, on the blue helmet, it has to be the oil in it that works, for a white helmet, use scratch remover or rubbing compound, i forgot which brand to use or name of it, if anyone knows, any help would be great, thanks.

Hey guys I just saw this blog and decided to join. For the sharpie issue use a 70% alcohol solution. I got a grey Ichiro jersey signed this past spring training and he marked it up when he was handing it back to me. I called sharpie and they told me that most sharpies are alcohol solutions and to use this alcohol solution and it worked... I can't even tell those marks were there (you have to dab at the marks so that they go through the material, don't rub the marks as the alcohol will just spread the marks)! Good Luck!

I went to Chargers Park this evening for the sig session and faired pretty well in 30 minutes:

x2 LT (LT logo mini FB and Yearbook)
x2 Jammer photos
x2 Phillips
X2 Chambers
x2 Sproles
x1 Kaeding
x1 Cromartie
x1 Rivers
x1 Buster Davis

It was great to see some of the "threaders" out there. This year didn't seem as bad as last year but you definitely had to hunt for the players you wanted. Many of the "headliners" didn't wear their jerseys so unless you recognized them in person or in the right place at the right time, you missed them.

Rivers I hear is tough to get. I managed to get lucky and squeezed my helmet into the mob and he picked it up. I agree though, the mob situation is annoying, but at the same time its kind of fun. Sort of like a hunt and you can get more than one person per visit.

...on a funny note, I got #45 (something Nande) on my helmet twice and the dude signed right next to his first signature. I noticed him examining my helmet where he signed for a few seconds too but he signed anyways argh. I'll keep one of his sigs just because they wrote an article about him on the UT. Interesting story, apparently his family is stuck in Nigeria right now.
