Hey everyone,
My wife and I are visiting San Diego for the first time this weekend. As a lifelong Charger fan I can't wait to actually visit Qualcomm and go to Seau's restaurant. Is there anything else worth checking out? It can be non-Charger related.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

San Diego Zoo (and Balboa Park), Wild Animal Park and Sea World are all common destinations.
If that doesn't sound like your cup 'o tea, try Coronado- the Hotel Del is always a good stop for lunch, Seaport Village and the Gaslamp Quarter in downtown are nice spots too. Petco Park is right there next to the Gaslamp if you feel like watching the Padres lose...
Also- if the weather holds up, it could be VERY nice beach weather for the weekend.

Pacific Beach on the 4th of July... then hang out Garnet for the fun family based activities after the sun sets
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
But seriously The wild animal park is great, definitely see that.
If you are looking for a fun day of hiking try Torrey Pines (but get there before 10 AM).
Pick up a copy of the reader (sdreader.com) and see what local events are going on. Usually there some street fairs going on around the area.
You should take a walk down prospect street in La Jolla, although for God sakes leave your charge card at home (google it and then see what retailers rent space), but right down the street is La Jolla cove with the childrens pool (currently occupied by seals) but seriously you cant beat the view.
If you have any questions regarding beaches or hiking trails PM me and I will give you the low-down.

Lucid has some great advice- I forgot this was a holiday weekend. Pretty much all the places highlighted in both of our previous posts should be pretty rockin' this weekend. There will be LOTS on.
Looking ahead at the weather it looks like it should be low 90's inland.... I don't know if that's enough to scare you off, but it will make places like the Wild Animal Park pretty hot-
Keeping things coastal will probably increase your comfort factor a bit.

LOL- nice one Turtle.
Lucid had another jem of an idea w/ the Del Mar Fair. I love going to that thing. Carnie freaks, tractor pulls, good eats and all kinds of cool gadget/invention must have items in the big tents.
Plenty of farm animals running around too- that's why Shammy and Jack like it...

If you're feeling brave you can wade into the Speed of Dark (http://forums.chargers.com/showthread.php?t=54409) and figure it all out.

I have seen such reference, but I am afraid its a secret portal which deludes both time and space; much like Hotel California
"You can checkout any time you like, but you can never leave!"
I do appreciate the invite though.

You would definitely be crossing an event horizon...
I'd recommend a nice ferry ride in san diego bay. Enjoy your sightseeing.

ehhh, horton plaza is the best mall i think cause its downtown, but parking sucks, and somebody had the genius idea of putting the food court in the smallest spot in the entire mall, but besides that i like it the best

Yea but if he goes to the del for lunch he better be willing to cough up major coin Trust me I used to work at the SUNDECK GRILL there not saying it isn't nice because it's great with a live band on the weekends and a nice view but it sure ain't cheap.

I'm surprised no one mentioned Belmont Park @ the Mission Beach boardwalk. The Giant Dipper IS still there, am I correct?

The pier once was longer , until a storm broke the end off.Do not forget the tide pool next to the pier.find a good spot along the cliffs to carve your name and date, mine is still there after 20 years.
