Of those listed, I'd have to say Carlin (RIP:(). IMO the only unique comic on the list.
Edit: Having Eddy and not Richard on the list seems odd. W/O Pryor there would have been no Murphy. Again this is just my opinion.

I was going to mention Chapelle, but his career (really hoping he's just taking a break) was too short lived to rank him high enough.

Tho anyone that like comedy could say this, is there any need to say it? especially in this manor... expletives are normally reserved for those that dont have the ability to elaborate on there opinions rationally.
God the internets are way to anonymous....

cmon...mencia and engvall aren't even in the top 100 comedians of all time...it was a terrible poll. you must let people know when they make horrible mistakes or they are bound to repeat them

Is there any need for you to talk to me?
It's obvious no rational thought went into the making of this poll, so what reason do I have to be rational?
Tho my post count wont represent this, I love this board and its family atmosphere. If a mod could pull up how many times I click the "new post" button a day maybe they could back me up. Yes menstealya and engvall (jeff foxworthy's water boy) are not creative, but to attack someone's PERSONAL opinion in such and aggressive way is sad IMO.
No question most of the ppl on this poll or down right unworthy. I just dont understand when people post something that has almost as many "*" as it does consonance.
Sorry if i ruffled your feathers.

agree 110%, it's the manor that it was done that i commented on. NOT the legitimateness of what was said. You can call someone wrong with out calling them a bleeping bleep....
Dont get complacent and let yourself think that these things are ok. I believe you can have a disagreement and convey that in a way that you grandmother would be ok with. expletives are 1 of 2 things.
A - Laziness
B - Ignorance
.
Edit: Mind you this is coming from a 24 year old that hates to see our decline/inability of decent communication.

Agreed...but Eddie Murphy's RAW was pretty damn funny. Kind of like Jane Cuddler's starting record as a QB.

Out of all the people I had to choose from..George Carlin all the way.
Carlos Mencia is a hack. Steals other comedians works. I saw a segment on tv where Joe Rogan just totally owned him on that.

Richard Pryor is not on the list?
Pryor hands down.
and dismissing Pryor due to the use his use of colorful perjoritives as a methodology tool in that mode of entirement style is really pretty ignorant in and of itself.

I agree. George Carlin differentiated himself away from the rest of the pack. His comedy was brilliant too.

Anyone who has seen Bill Cosby's "Himself" will agree. This is what pretty much started the whole Stand Up routine.
Personal favorites: Steven Wright, Cheech and Chong and Steve Martin.

whats up willy i sent you a pm, oh ya check your myspace as well.I knew you would understand this poll.being that we ve been to so many stand up clubs once we turned 21. you know i couldn't include every great comic way to many to make a list.so i picked 5 that spans into different audiences as well would cause controversy, just to keep it interesting.

Carlin made us laugh and really think while we were doing it. And while many comedians can be thought-provoking, George challenged us to examine some of our society's most sacred cows, and was absolutely hilarious in doing so.
He gets my vote.

My all time favorite is George Lopez. You gotta understand Mexican-American culture to find him funny, but if you do, he's hilarious. Of those you listed in the poll, I'm not that partial of them, although I do like Engvall because I'm a big fan of the Blue Collar Comedy guys.

Best of all time? I can't call it. From this list I'd take George then Chris...Mencia and Engvall aren't bad but they aren't that good either.
Jim Gaffigan's Beyond the Pale is hilarious also check out Louis C.K. really funny dude.

WHAT? No Richard Pryor on that list of poll choices?? He's ranked first in my book... Live On The Sunset Strip was one of his best standup performances ever! (his bit about the mafia was CLASSIC!) George Carlin comes in at a close second.
