View Full Version : The WaterPark to blame for Week 1 loss.????
LA Chargers '07

I told a buddy who's a Skins fan about the waterpark thing and he laughed and said thats typical Norv.
He did tell me when the Chargers first aqcuired Norv... "You're play calling may get better but be ready to not always see your players fully prepared every week"
Now I think about how week 1 the Chargers didnt always look as sharp particularly the Defense.
Shall we blame Norv's ingenious plan to go to Knotts Soak City on the last day of training camp as to why our defense looked 'sluggish' to say the least???????

There's nothing wrong with having fun every now and then.. I think Saturday night is the perfect time to stop worrying about last Sunday's game and get ready for the one tomorrow..

Well Tom Coughlin took the team bowling during training camp last year and they won the Super Bowl so ur theory is shot right there

This thread rocks.
And i'm still dead serious about this.
Norv has a reputation for his teams not looking prepared at times. And when u take the team to a waterpark on the last day of training camp instead of opting to have a productive day.... well.... what arguement do u think that supports???
Gimme a break, shut this thread down. As silly as this idea may sound it could be completely legit.
Also u got our own fans saying "Well.... this is just like week 5 of the preseason for us....!"
R -U- K I D D I N G
M E ???!!!
This loss will haunt us until we put a winning streak together which is not easy to do in the NFL.
As silly as this notion sounds, lemme ask u this...
DID OUR TEAM LOOK 100% PREPARED ON WEEK 1?????
Seeing the team go down waterslides is cute in the preseason.
Seeing the team miss tackles and play soft in Week 1 isnt.
Think about that before u 'shut anything down'
LA Chargers '07

also, think about how prepared the Broncos looked against the Raiders.
And yes i know it was the lowly Raiders, but either way THEY LOOKED PREPARED to beat the hell out of a crappy team and thats just what they did.
We couldnt beat the Panthers AT HOME who were short their biggest offensive weapon.
The waterpark trip aint so cute anymore is it...????

Sometimes people think too hard about nothing. I think this might be one of those times.

It's all Merriman's fault!!! If he didn't have torn ligaments in his knee, he could've sacked Delhomme on that last play!!! He's lost a step!!!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.....wait, are you serious?
The guys practiced that same evening....I'm sorry, but I think you're just digging right now. We can't expect these guys to not have a little fun every now & then; I thought (and still think) the waterpark trip was great. AND not tackling was an issue WAY before the waterpark....

yeah but y'know when u go to the beach and you're in the water for too long.
Youre equilibrium gets thrown off from being in the water too long.
Maybe they were not balanced because of the excessive watersliding hence the bad tackling....
Far fetched but who knows????

Dude, a junior varsity team could've prepared for the Raiders and beaten them!
Better check your adult diaper for extra wetness. That might explain why you're getting worked up over nothing. ;)

doesn't matter who the HC is, chargers always have games where they look totally unprepared
vs a lesser dolphins team, at home in sd in 05
even under coryell, they had some real dog games
it's football.

blame the waterpark all you want, we choked, we choke from time to time, we're going to choke again this season at some point, hopefully it's not during the playoffs, if we make it that far

i'm not neccessarily blaming the waterpark tahn rather saying perhaps it's a glimpse/symbol into Norv's lax preparation.
One thing about Marty.
Our team looked prepared most weeks.
I dunno i'm just sick of having to play 'catch up' all season.
When will we finally DOMINATE???
And to me the answer to that question is, when we are more prepared week in and week out.

well yeah thats the trade off.
I think our offense has opened up a lot more. It is now poised to be more balanced than ever. Something that probably couldnt ever be fully achieved under Marty.
But our D seemingly has gotten soft from a lack of looking technically sound and alert. (I am counting our 4 preseason games in this since it seemed to carry over into week 1)
So which is the lesser or more of the 2 evils????
This is the reason at least IMO why we havent looked like the dominant team we could and should be.

I just got word that the Chargers practice today before the Denver game consisted of a viewing of the movie Summer School.
Norv went on to explain how Mark Harmon was an underappreciated actor and that he 'never quite lived up to his potential'
Norv ended his speech in an English accent. (He figured he;'d change things up a bit)
Tommorows morning breakfast for the team will consist of coffee, all u can eat Donuts, Snickers bars and cotton candy along with a viewing of the movie Karate Kid.
(only the tournament scene when the 'you're the best' song comes on.)

You are SO full of ****!
Today's movie is slated to be "Fast Times At Ridgemont High", where the scene when Forrest Whitaker demolishes the Lincoln team for mistakingly trashing his car out of revenge will be played over and over and over again as motivational inspiration for our team as they head into Donkeyville with a collective chip on their shoulders...
*EDIT: I've just received word that the morning breakfast consisting of donuts, Snickers & cotton candy was available for all players up until Jamal arrived. Coincidentally, all the fruit & bagels down at the breakfast bar have mysteriously disappeared! Hotel security has been placed on high alert...
