The Chargers placed receiver Buster Davis on injured reserve Wednesday, ending a second injury-marred season for the team's first-round pick in 2007.
Davis likely was not going to be active the rest of the season, anyway, and with his recovery from a groin injury expected to take at least a few more weeks, the decision was made to shut him down.
The question now will linger on into 2009 whether Davis can be a viable NFL receiver.
