As I have mentioned earlier, I am a moderator for a Chicago BEARS website. One of our members posted this today...and I thought it was pretty amazing.
So, here goes:
From Jimmors (a Chicago BEARS fan at DaBearz.com)
First of all, let me preface this by saying im a natural skeptic. So when a friend showed me this thing about Dichloroacetic acid (DCA) and its ability to cure three forms of common cancer (Brain, Lung and breast), i was naturally skeptical (as im sure you are by reading this), so i took it upon myself to look into this and spent the better part of 2 hours finding all the information i could online. Needless to say, i am impressed by what i found, which is why im posting this here, to share with everyone else who have also never heard of this. (if you dont want to read all the stuff im writing, just skip down to the Youtube video and links on bottom)
In February of 2007, a medical research team in Alberta Canada published a paper describing the possible treatment of cancer patients by a chemical called DCA. Their results showed that DCA killed the 3 cancer types in canerous tissue in a lab and in mice, while not affecting healthy tissue at all. Basically, a cure for cancer.
Naturally, like most people, i have it hard-wired into my brain that we will never find a cure for cancer, or that it is still way off in the future. So this news (and the fact it has received little or no attention in the media), has come as a shock to me. Most of us assume because we have never heard of it, that it simply must be a myth or not effective at all, otherwise it would have received front page coverage on every newspaper. So i asked myself the same question you are probably asking right now: if this works, why havent we heard of it?
The answer is actually quite simple (and retarded for that matter): money. DCA is not patented. Common sense would say that that shouldnt matter, but we know that in the world of health care and especially pharmaceuticals, money talks and b.s. walks. And unfortunately, this bull has walked right out of the headlines. New medical discoveries and treatments (especially those for something as high profile as CANCER), require years of medical studies to prove its effectiveness, and who pays for that? The Pharm companies who plan on developing the drugs and raking in the profits.
But, because this chemical compound is unpatented, if a Pharm company where to come along and develop the drug and conduct the necessarystudies, anybody else could come along later and sell an exact replica as a generic, undercutting the Pharm's profits. Which is why none of the Pharms have taken the plunge to properly study and fund the drug, and why we have not heard of it or its headlines.
Now im sure the next question thats eating away at you is "How does it work?" Well, after looking it up, the gist of it is as thus:
Cancer cells require energy like other (healthy) cells of the body. This is called metabolism (a term im sure we are somewhat aware of). Healthy cells use oxygen for energy and metabolism. Metabolism is run by our cells mitochondria, and cancer mitochnodria is different that that of healthy cells. DCA actually shuts down the cancerous mitochnodria, while leaving the healthy cells alone, causing the cancerous cells to commit "cellular suicide" or Apoptosis.
The clinical studies performed in labs up to this point have shown the remarkable potential, and unfortunately it has not passed much farther beyond that into human clinical trials. Thats not to say that humans havent tried it, below are some links, including a site that has numerous patient testimonies of patients who have tried it and gone into remission and/or complete recovery.
Im not saying DCA will be the be-all-end-all for cancer. In fact ive provided a couple of links below of medical doctors who warn that things like DCA come along every so often and might not be the cure we all hope for, but they agree that it still has the potential to become that cure, especially if proper clinical trials on humans were conducted. All i know is that cancer is a horrible sickness that is the second leading cause of death in this country, and most people who suffer from it, will reach a point when they are out of options. And i know from my own experiences that if a loved one of mine has reached that point, they would do anything, try anything to become healthy and live out their life. And i for one, am glad i have learned of this, as an option to consider when all other options have failed and the life of a loved one, or even myself someday may depend on it. I see this information like a spare tire. I dont need it right now, and hope i never do, but if there comes a time that i may need it, ill be glad its there in my trunk.
