man i'd love to somehow get this guy. I just think he'd fit in perfectly. Just how much money and for how long is he looking for?

He got paid 35 million for 5 years I think. Money we will be giving to Rivers.

Your absolutely right! ;) ..... this is from adam shefter @ nfl.com:

Cardinals free-agent defensive end Antonio Smith is now a member of the Texans. Smith signed a five-year, $35 million deal that includes $12.5 million in guarantees on Saturday.

I'd guess Canty will go for at least this and likely MORE.

Go Chargers! :logo

Right now there really aren't any good DE's out there besides Canty.
Looks like you'll have to wait until the draft.

You might have a long wait ;) ..... especially if AJ has someone in mind in the upcoming draft.

We don't know who AJ & Co. might have in mind for either FA or the draft ..... if he covets a player he thinks he can get in the draft - he probably wouldn't bring in a FA - unless it's for low dollars.

I think he'll dabble in FA, as his track record shows he does and usually it's been with more mature proven vets with the exception of maybe B. Jue.

Relax and take a nap when you can :) .... AJ & Co. are working behind the scenes and I'm pretty sure they'll come up with something.

Go Chargers! :logo

The Houston Texans signed free agent defensive end Antonio Smith on Saturday.

NFL Network's Adam Schefter reports the five-year deal is worth $35 million, with $12.5 million guaranteed.

Smith appeared in each regular season game and started three of four playoff games for the NFC Champion Arizona Cardinals last season.

The Texans needed someone to start opposite 2006 top overall pick Mario Williams after releasing Anthony Weaver earlier this week.

Weaver had one sack in his three years in Houston, and the Texans need a pass-rush threat at the second end position.

The 6-foot-4, 285-pound Smith had 41 tackles and 3.5 sacks this season and has 125 tackles and 14.5 sacks five-year career.

He had eight tackles, a sack, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery in the Super Bowl.

Houston also re-signed TE Joel Dreessen, DE Stanley McClover, C Chris White and FS Eugene Wilson.
