I'm aiming for at least second-string halfback next season, but my speed isn't exactly where I need it to be. Are there any tips you guys have on sprinting techniques? My dad told me I should keep my arms at 90 degrees, my upper body tucked forward, and my legs closer together so I have a longer stride. Is there anything else I should do?
If this needs to be locked or moved, please do so, I'm just looking for some tips. Though it'd be nice if I had a coach...

Do Squats.
Pay attention to your feet when you are running short distances and try and improve your foot landing and taking off.
Pay attention to your breathing.
In all, it's really Squats bro. Do them safely by not over doing it.

I don't know about the squats... I squat a lot and i'm still slower than a lot of guys, I'd say work power cleans, as they are more explosive. Also, when you train, go 90-95%, not full blast, so that you can refine your technique. When you run with good form, you work muscles that will help you run faster, but when you go balls out, your spastic form will often not work the muscles that need to improve and you will just tire yourself out. Also, run track.
By the way, where do you play?

i play 1st string RB for my team and what i do is a lot of squats, hill running an as chargers saints say, dont workout 100% so u can refine ur technique, i am also a backup reciever (im 6'3 going on 6'4, yeah i know maybe a bit tall for RB, at the moment i am running a 4.9/5.0 but i reckon i will get down to 4.6 easy on the 40yd dash, it is only the start of the season here, we are geting a RB coach within next 4 week so i will update you with other drills) My recommendation would be to set up cones and work on yor breakdowns through a zig-zag pattern.. also just the simple stuff like ball security............... the net has soooo many drills u can use, i prefer not using weights and using my body heaps but some people prefer to kill temselves in the gym... PM me if u wanted to ask a question :-)

I'm a pretty fast guy, though your training is probably very different from mine as I only run track and don't need to take into account the big hits you do, anyway, taking the bike rather than the car everywhere has really helped me, also a good diet helps!
