Hey, I know this isn't the place to post, but Loumud and I went to the 2009 Samsung World Champtions Pro/AM tournament. It was a good chance to see the 20 LPGA players in the world and it was free. Check out my blog to view autographs and photos.

Hi everyone,

This is a little belated, but I wanted to share with you a recent sucess from the series with the Crockies last weekend. I did pretty well overall getting various items signed by Crockies players, but the signed ticket below is my most notable success. It is my ticket from the 22-inning game last season (longest game in Padres history!). I got it signed by Peavy (SD starter for the game) at the last Collins signing, and I got it signed by Jeff Francis (COL starter) and Troy Tulowitzki (game-winning hit) this past weekend. Both Peavy and Francis were kind enough to inscribe it for me with their roles in the game, but Tulo declined to do so when I asked him. Oh well - at least I got the auto, and finally finished a project that has taken me over a year to complete. Enjoy!!

That's going to be pretty tough this late in the season, especially since Jr. doesn't sign all that much at the park. Plus, I would pay money to see the earful someone would get from Sr. if they approached him to sign 2 of the same photo! Good luck, though...

Pretty small attendance at the AIA signing. People didn't want to brave the Air Show traffic?

The Air show traffic was horrible, but I think the small attendance was more on account of the fact that most people on this thread know that Cabrera signs up a storm at the park. No need to pay money and use gas when you can get him at the park for free!

I went to the Air Show on Saturday morning for the Gwynn signing. I figured the line would be long and Gwynn would only be signing 1 per. It was a HUGE pain in the rear to get there, but once I finally arrived at the Air Force Reserve van at 11:30, there were only like 10 people in line! Most had nothing for him to sign since no one knew he was going to be there. So, Tony mainly signed some promo postcards they provided him and also a lot of cheap mini baseballs the reservists were handing out. I got a big pain in my stomach every time I saw him sign one of those balls! I dropped 2 cards for him to sign, and afterward he asked if I had an extra blue Sharpie he could use for the rest of the day. I gladly complied, and then he asked what else I had for him to sign! The only thing else I had was a scan of the Padres mag with he and Jr. on it. He gladly signed that as well with my silver DecoColor. Wish I would have taken more items with me, but I didn't know it was going to be such a rackfest. I went to the Park afterward and was able to get Gwynn Jr. after BP with some help from niceaznguy21. Thanks a lot, bro - I owe you some beers when you do actually turn 21!

Here's my loot from today's pilaging at CJ's. Definitely a much smaller selection than last year's mega sale, but there were still some decent deals to be had. By far, one of the best deals available was the Drew Brees signed authenticated photos for only $12.50 + tax!

Hi everyone, FYI I have a new column in Autograph Magazine starting with the November issue called 'Tricks of the Trade.' It provides helpful tips for getting items signed in-person, and each month's column will explore different topics. If you haven't seen the magazine, check out the website at www.autographmagazine.com (http://www.autographmagazine.com). The print version is carried at Barnes and Noble and Borders, and by subscription. They also have a blog on the website at http://live.autographmagazine.com/. My discussion group is under 'Tricks of the Trade,' and I invite you all to join (it's free) and provide some input for the different discussion topics from your own experiences. I'll try and use your name and comments in future columns in for magazine for anything you post. Thanks!

Off topic but it sickens me that A-Roid is charging $250 - $400 for an autograph signing in New York.

It sickens me since he was charging the same rate BEFORE he admitted to juicing! The same thing happened with Clemens. His prices were astronomical before his juicing was revealed, but they stayed the same even afterward. You'd think that they would be more inclined to cut their fans a little bit of a pricing break after all the bad press they received, especially in this economy. In any case, you know how Yankee fans are always "what have you done for me lately?" so I'm sure his prices will stay up there if the Yanks win the WS. I wouldn't be surprised to see them go up even more, though! As long as people are willing to pay those prices, they'll keep charging as much as they can...

Not sure if anyone has posted anything about this company in the past, but I was recently made aware of their products. This could be a cheaper alternative to getting museum-quality glass in your display items. They're called Picture Shields and they provide a UV-protective film that you can slip into your picture frames and display cases. They advertise that their products are 99% effective, which is outstanding, and that they National Archives uses their products. Anyway, I'm out of my allowable display room in my house, and everything I have up has the UV glass. But, if anyone decides to try this product out, let us know how it goes!

Do they enforce the one auto per patron rule? What is a good time to show up to assure you get in?

They always announce that it's 1 or 2 items per person, but I've only really seen them strictly enforce that once over the past 4 or 5 events they've had there. But, please don't be 'that guy' who drops 10-15 items in front of Tony and wants to strike up a lengthy conversation with him! Also, some people get there 3-4 hours early, but everyone in line has been able to get an autograph the past few times, and many were even able to go through the line twice. So, it's really up to you how early you want to get there. Tony's also been pretty good about staying longer than the advertised timeframe to make sure he takes care of everyone, if he doesn't have any other obligations afterward...

Too bad you weren't there RT...the signing went pretty well! It was also nice to see and catch up on things from the other "threaders". Props to those who scored "more than the usual" as TG seemed to be in a good mood. Here's my take:

Gwynn was in a great mood. The 9:00 start time was awesome as it kept the line fairly short. He was signing 2 per, but some people dropped a few more items and he seemed happy to sign.

I stuck with the 2 per and scored these 8x10s:

Here's my belated posting of the stuff I got signed at El Cajon Ford on Saturday - 2 8x10s, 1 commemorative HOF Induction magazine and a Wheaties box. I too stuck with the 2 items per, but luckily the wife was able to help me out. It's funny because I had to really had to work hard (in a jovial way) to convince Tony to sign the basketball photo in blue. He was adamant about signing it in black, but I was finally able to get him to concede. He was cool about it, and commented about his afro in the photo stating that he, believe it or not, had just gotten a haircut before this picture was taken!

Anyway, I'm also posting a pic of the same photo Tony signed in black at the last ECF signing. I don't really need both, so if anyone is interested in the one signed in black, send me a PM and we can work out a trade or something else. It is also an 8x10.

FYI, The SDSU Aztecs baseball team will be hosting a car wash today (Sunday) at the stadium. Not sure exactly where it will be, but there will probably be signs posted in the area. Also not sure if Tony will be there, but I suspect he'll make an appearance for a portion of the time. So, it might be another opportunity to score some more Gwynn autos. Also, the current players on the team who were previously drafted by MLB teams include Cory Vaughn, Brandon Meredith, and Ryan O'Sullivan (as far as I know). Also, they have another star pitcher in closer Addison Reed, who nearly made Team USA.

Not sure if anyone has ever gone but the Padres awards luncheon is Dec. 2

Tickets are $75 a piece. Ouch! But, it might be a good opportunity to rack, and the money goes to help support the Padres Foundation. If anyone has attended this event in the past, please share your experience!

Yes, both Ichiro and Hernandez do sign at Spring Training, but it's one of those things where you have to be in the exact right place at the right time. Ichiro especially gets mobbed whenever he signs. If you're going to head out there, you definitely won't be disappointed. ST is a gold mine for getting autos from players on teams we don't see during the regular season. Plus, everything is basically within a 30 minute drive with all the camps being located there in the Phoenix area. PM me closer to ST, and I can provide you with some more detailed info.

I used to do glossy photos, but experience over the years has taught me that matte photos work best. You can't really tell the difference anyway when you display the photos, either in a frame or in binders. Plus, the markers tend to 'catch' better to the matte surface, especially with paint pens, which minimalizes the streaking effect you get a lot of times on glossy photos. Also, if you get those pesky stray marks or personalizations, they tend to come off easier on matte photos. On glossy photos the fibers of the markers will almost always scratch the surface of the photo, but this effect is mitigated on matte photos a lot more. Just my two cents...

Decided to head out last-minute yesterday to crash the Padres awards luncheon at the Hall of Champions with my bro Denmark (dv82u). I showed up near the end around 1:15 pm, and had to wait outside since I didn't want to pay the $75 admission fee. Luckily everyone worth noting departed out the main entrance afterward. Got Gwynn Jr., Bell, Chris Young, Bud Black, and even Kouz signed, although he gave us the typical scowl when he did. I was psyched that CY signed all of my cards, especially considering the fact that I haven't been able to get him at all since Spring Training back in February. Winfield gave us the expected 'Heisman' on his way out despite only a small handful of us being out there. Also saw Jerry Coleman, Mark Grant, Kevin Correia, and a few others, but had nothing for them to sign. Didn't see Adrian since heard that he's currently on vacation in Europe right now. Was also hoping that Troy Aikman might be there, but no luck. All in all, definitely worth the trip, though!

has jake been known to sign more than one item at these events in the past?

Jake's the most generous signer I've encountered. The only time I caught flak was asking for a "Cy Young' inscription at spring training. He signed it, but then he signed his sig all crazy when he usually has a really sweet signature.

Bring a hot chick with you and you should be golden!

Yes Jake will sign multiple items for all, but you must be carefull on how you approach him with your items... like if you throw down 3 items, don't bother asking for the "CY 07" inscription cuz he wont do it... but if you go up with one item and ask he will be more then glad to do it for you...

I've even had succsess in getting the "CY 07" inscrition when asking him if he would personalize the item... he signed both of my kid's Peavy jerseys with their names followed by "Go Padres, Jake Peavy 44, CY 07"

GOOD LUCK TO ALL... and I hope to see some of you guys out there for this one I will go and remember please bring gifts...

Just like LOUMUD said, you can rack up sigs from just about everyone, depending on which camp you go to. When we head out, we visit various teams like the Pads, Brewers, A's, Mariners, Rangers, Royals, White Sox, and Dodgers (to name a few). On some days, we hit multiple camps. Last year, some of us managed to get a variety of players...Ichiro, Josh Hamilton, Giambi, Trevor, Greg Maddux, Holliday, Brett, Lasorda, Torre, and Peavy...to name a few.

I have made this ST trip every year since 1985 (first Yuma then to Peoria). What works best for me is to head out BEFORE they play the games...the players are more accessable. Either way, it's a fun trip for everyone! PM me when we get closer as I can also provide info if needed.

Forget you, Ray! I WILL PROVIDE THE SPRING TRAINING INFO! Ha, ha, ha... Seriously, though, do yourselves a favor and make it out to Phoenix at some point during Spring Training if you can. You can make it a family trip too - you and any kids can go out and rack during the day while mom hits the spa. It's a win-win for everyone!

Both periods have their merit - the practice period in Feb. and the game period in March. The good thing about the practice period in Feb. is that there are definitely less collectors in attendance. But, you usually only have access to autographs after the players finish practice in most camps. The bad thing about the game period in March is that there are definitiely more collectors to compete with, but often times you have opportunities to rack at practice in the morning and at the games in the afternoon. For me, though, the less people I have to bump elbows with, the better! I do enough of that during the regular season anyway...

Boltpride 619

Eckstein @ the Cannery in Newport, is a small private dining room... you can eat/drink at the bar while you wait! Average is about $20 per person!

But beware of a hispanic guy with an earpiece and a black shoulder bag wearing slacks and a dress shirt! This guy will phone his buddy's and kid to come running up the stairs at the end of the dinner and crowd the player, only to piss him off and not sign anything!! He screwed it up for all of us at the Reggie Jackson event last month!

I saw this on Friar John's Blog (http://padres.mlblogs.com/):

FanFest is set
You may have seen word about this pop up here and there. FJ was waiting until the official green light came from Padres management. The annual FanFest has indeed been scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 13 at PETCO Park.

They're still working on the details, but it looks as if this will be the full-blown event of years past rather than the abbreviated version of last spring. It's a sure thing that the popular player autograph session and Padres garage sale will be centerpieces.

Love the date of it. Just before players report for Spring Training means this event will have a real baseball feel to it. Can't wait to hear what's on the players' minds as a new season dawns.

FJ will have more as the particulars are put in place

That is just ridiculous! Like I said before, we here in the SD area are at least somewhat cordial compared to collectors out in the East Coast. Can you believe what one guy said to Clint Eastwood when he appeared to be leaving - 'Come on, Clint! I need to get something to eat!" Then they end up chasing the vehicle as it drives away. No shame whatsoever!

Has anyone heard any dates for Friar Fest? In the past it's been the weekend between the Championship game and the Super Bowl. I'd really like to get Latos!

I haven't seen any postings, but I would like to say this. If anyone is interested in ordering some Rawlings Official Major League Baseballs (ROMLB's) for the upcoming Friarfest or Spring Training, PM me. Myself along with some other threaders are putting an order together for a bulk order of baseballs. Depending on the order, the ROMLB baseballs will be between $8.75 to $9.00 range. If interested, let me know.

You might be able to do what we did for that Padres Awards Luncheon. Just arrive near the end of the event and wait outside for him to come out. Boomer's been know to be quite moody, but since he's being honored at the event, he'll probably be in a good mood when he leaves.

I randomly played a round at Torrey this morning and played with two of the execs from 2K Sports. They were playing a practice round for the Players Trust charity tournament that will be at Torrey South on Saturday. They said it will be at a private club tomorrow but they weren't sure where, they thought Del Mar Country Club sounded familiar. They didn't know everyone who would be there but they did mention Dave Winfield, Trevor Hoffman, and a few others. Here is the link from years past.

I decided to skip out on the X Nady signing today and try my luck at the MLB golf tournament at Torrey Pines. It paid off huge! I got there right before the shotgun started at 7:00 am, but we were quickly escorted off the premises by security. I decided to head back around lunchtime when the players would be finishing up to try my luck again.

After testing the waters, security was actually really cool the second time around. They let us have good access to the players as they headed into the lodge for a luncheon as long as we stayed off the cart paths when they were heading in. The biggest surprise of the day was Frank Robinson. I've heard a lot of bad stories about how horrible he is in-person. He did give us a little bit of a struggle, but eventually stopped and signed. He's getting up there in age, so it was interesting to watch him sign. He takes time to write every single letter in his name, and it takes seemingly a full minute for him to write one autograph.

The second biggest surprise was Dave Winfield. I have encountered him in-person about 30 times over the past couple years, and have never been able to get him to sign once, except TTM. He stopped and signed 1 per person, and was actually pretty nice about it. I got him on a baseball. He's charging $90 per baseball at the upcoming TRISTAR show at the end of the month in Houston (my old stomping ground), so this was definitely a belated Christmas gift for me!

I was also able to get Billy Butler on a couple of cards, and he was really cool as always. Also got Bobby Bonilla on a card. Other players in attendance were Fred Lynn, Mark Kotsay, Josh Barfield, Dexter Fowler, Geoff Blum, and a few others I didn't have anything for since I didn't know they would be there ahead of time.

The last big name I got was Evan Longoria. He definitely seemed like he didn't to have anything to do with us at first, but he eventually stopped and signed 1-per. I've heard stories from other collectors that he strictly side-panels baseballs (and not even under the MLB logo side panel), and doesn't even sign under the logos on All-Star or WS balls. Sure enough, a friend of mine there had him sign an AS ball and he turned it to the Rawlings side to sign. Another person handed him a regular ROMLB, and he promptly turn it to the Rawlings side panel to sign. They were nice autos, just on the least desirable part of the ball! Luckily I got him on a photo. I asked him nicely to include his ROY inscription, but he said that he couldn't. Lessons learned - for notorious side-panelers you can't go wrong with photos or cards.

Trevor was there as well, and we tried to get him when he headed to his car to drop off his clubs. He said he would sign when he was leaving, but I decided not to wait the extra hour or two (or three) in the parking lot while they finished the luncheon. All in all, though, it was a really good day!

I got him last year on a Gold Glove BB (one of the 3 who got him). Be patient! He does not sign a lot so you'll have to catch him in (almost) a one on one situation. He shows up very early (between 5:30am-6 am) at camp and will sometimes surprise fans and sign. He usually is out early and will often wave at you when he leaves to head out to the golf course. He's one of those where you have to be at the right place at the right time...

Hi everyone,

FYI, one of America's favorite 'actresses' Tera Patrick is scheduled to do a book signing tomorrow (Tuesday Jan. 12th) at 7 pm at Borders Books downtown SD. Most Borders events are wristbanded, meaning you get a wrist band for the signing when you purchase the book in-person which guarantees you an autograph. Most Borders locations do no allow call-in orders ahead of time or anything like that.

Anyway, one word of caution is that everything I've seen online from her recent signings at other locations has shown that she likes to sign her book in PINK sharpie marker! She might use a different color if you ask nicely, but maybe not. Also, Borders is one of the strictest venues when it comes to not allowing outside items for signing. But, you never know. Good luck to anyone who decides to go!

As stated above, Maddux is very tough. A few years ago we tried and tried for days with no luck. Finally, during a game we saw him come out and there were only five of us, so we made a sign that said "Please Mr. Maddux sign an autograph for us." He laughed and stopped and did it.

Just note, he does not change pens. So if someone hands him a sharpie, that's what you'll get on whatever you hand him. Hence my OMLB in blue sharpie.

Also wanted to point out that Matt Antonelli has a blog (http://mattantonelli9.blogspot.com/) where he does trivia and gives away game-used stuff/autographed stuff.

I haven't been able to find anything. However, I just RSVP'd to an event next week and on the confirmation page it said to mark 2/13 on my calendar for the upcoming Padres FanFest. So, I expect we'll see something soon.

Was there today and I got Rocco Mediate, K.J. Choi, J.B. Holmes, and Luke Donald. Tried to get Ernie "The Big Easy" Els, but was elusive. I know that Jim Furyk, Davis Love III, Padraig Harrington are NOT there. A lot of the players had to finish out the Bob Hope Classic today that's why the turn out was low today.

I would post more, but the rest of my signatures are on my 2008 U.S. Open Flag. I will post when I get more on it. Too many too name at this point.

Note: There will be a Padres Pro-Am event with the PGA players this Wednesday. I don't know who is comfirmed, but it is advertised. It's a good event to get baseball as well as the Top 20 players from the PGA tour.

Just picked up a couple of baseballs for the Open House and FanFest. I was thinking who would you guys consider "ball worthy"?

Adrian Gonzalez (of course)
Heath Bell (sure)
Chris Young (yeah)
Mike Adams (meh)
Kyle Blanks (probably a little too soon)
Greg Burke (no)
Kevin Correia (staff ace LOL)
Luke Gregerson (see Mike Adams)
Chase Headley (maybe?)
Nick Hundley (maybe?)
Mat Latos (in my mind he has the most potential to be a superstar)
Aaron Poreda (no)
Clayton Richard (maybe?)
Tim Stauffer (no)
Joe Thatcher (ummm)
Will Venable (see Blanks)

I think the only definite is Adrian. Beyond that I think Blanks, Latos, and possibly Richard. If Bell puts up another All Star season, than maybe. Young is headed in the wrong direction and really needs to reestablish himself. Perhaps this is Chase's year and he might be worth it. Other than that, go with cards or photos for the other guys. Another option is to start a team ball for all of the others.

I don't disagree necessarily but does Blanks have THAT much more upside than Venable?

From everything that I read Venable is projected as a 4-5 OFer, while Blanks is coming off being the #1 Padres prospect last year (and living up to it in his rookie year before getting injured) and projects to being a power hitting starter (if not an all star) for years to come.

Personally, I think Venable can easily be a starter and carve out a very good career, but the "experts" don't seem to think so.

Wasnt Venable the Padres top Prospect at one point? (prior to breaking his leg) I like Venable a lot. We will see what Blanks is like sometime around August 1st when he takes over at 1st base though.

According to Baseball America, Venable got as high as #5 in 2007 (Cedric Hunter was #1 that year). After that he never cracked the Top 10 again.

The Top Padres Prospects over the past decade are:
2000 Sean Burroughs, 3b
2001 Sean Burroughs, 3b
2002 Sean Burroughs, 3b
2003 Xavier Nady, of
2004 Josh Barfield, 2b

My standers are ...

Cards for scrubs
Photos for starters
Mini Helmets for all starts (I stopped doing baseballs because I've had some turn yellow over time and some of the BB have finger prints from where the player held the ball while signing so I started substituting Mini Helmets for the BBs Price is about the same
Ball caps for pitchers (see above)
Bat for HR hitters or high average hitters
Jerseys for HOFers

SO..
Adrian Gonzalez - Bat and Jersey
Heath Bell - BB or Ball Cap
Chris Young - BB or Ball Cap
Mike Adams - BB or Ball Cap (I think if he stays health he is going to be great)
Kyle Blanks - I agree to soon I would be doing a photo and then a Mini Helmet... If I get a good fell maybe a bat:confused: after the photo and mini helmet
Greg Burke -Card
Kevin Correia - BB or Ball Cap
Luke Gregerson Photo
Chase Headley Mini Helmet and Bat (I'm hoping he is an all star)
Nick Hundley photo
Mat Latos he looked good so I would take a chance on a Cap and Photo
Aaron Poreda - Card
Clayton Richard - he looks good so I would take a chance on a Cap and Photo
Tim Stauffer - Card (maybe a photo if I can find a nice one Cheap:crazy:)
Joe Thatcher - Card (maybe a photo if I can find a nice one Cheap:crazy:)
Will Venable (see Blanks)
Hope this helps… I alwasy tell people to go with there gut not their heart

Im about to do the same with mini helmets. Im getting sick of all my baseballs spotting (Lincecum, Fielder, Peavy) just to name a few that have gone real bad.

I pretty much do photos for anyone. I have too many jerseys signed now so i stopped doing them. I like the minis, and full size helmets. as far as bats go, I will only have a player sign a GU or GI bat.

I have photos of guys like Stauffer, and Thatcher, but dont know if I even want them.

Well, the Padres Open House was a nice event. In addition to the players noted above, Nick Hundley was also there. The players were fairly accessible, some mobbed more than others. I never did see Blanks walking around. I just missed Cabrera twice and I chose not to fight the crowd for Gwynn and Venable. The discussions with the owner, President, GM, and buddy were informative and nice. Plus free food!

I wonder if Blanks is 'Big League' now, or just doesn't think he deserves the sweetspot just yet? Did anyone ask him to sweetspot it, and he still side paneled? Jeff Bagwell used to side panel automatically, even up to his last years before retirement. But, it wasn't because he was an a$$, he was just very humble. He would sweetspot baseballs if you asked, though, and would usually inscribe whatever you requested...

Remember, alot of rookies (some vets too) follow "baseball etiquette" and often reserve the sweet spot for the manager unless asked. Bags was one who did it unless you asked as did other players...

no, it was last second before he went into the dugout, what do you guys do, just rub baby powder on it? i also heard you can rub it down with an eraser too, right?

Either way works fine. With baby powder, you just sprinkle some on the card and rub it down with your thumb. Then rub off the powder with a soft cloth. I prefer the white eraser, though. With the eraser you just rub it down and wipe off the eraser particles. You should do this 2 or 3 times until you see smaller eraser remnants on the surface. For glossier cards you might want to do the routine more times, though. Rookie mistake, newguy24, but you're learning!

Despite other posts, I can attest to the fact that Latos is a total a$$ and has never been a great signer. And that's coming from having run into him over a dozen times last season. He's always denied me 8x10s, although I have seen him sign a few here and there. He'll sign composite 8x10s or magazines, but that's about it. He might sign them for FriarFest, but I can almost guarantee that he'll personalize. I have seen him sign sweetspots, but he'll usually personalizes those as well. Yor best bet to get him without a personalization is to get him on a card, or some other obscure item that has virtually no value. Some collectors like personalizations, and that's fine. I don't like them, though.

I'm sure Blanks would sweetspot if you ask him to. Just remember that FriarFest isn't typicaly a rackfest. You have to pick and choose who you want since you can't be in 10 different places at once.

No, much like the white eraser, the baby powder serves to remove some of the gloss allowing the ink to better adhere to the card's surface. This prevents the pesky bubbling you saw on newguy24's Cabrera card...

On Feb. 13, Wills, the great Dodgers shortstop of the late 1950s and '60s, and Roberts will be reunited at the Walnut Grove Historical Barn in San Marcos in "An Evening with Dave Roberts" a fundraiser for the baseball team at Rancho Buena Vista High, where Roberts starred as a prep.

With the start of ST only 2 weeks away, just wanted to see what "camps" some of the threaders may be visiting when they head out? I'm going 02/19-02/21 for pitchers/catchers (and those players who show early) then return 02/26-03/01.

I'll be visiting: Pads/Mariners/Rangers/Royals/Brewers/White Sox/Dodger camps.

I'll be loaded with BBs/photos/cards/mini helmets/bases.

Does anyone know if the letter to get into Fan Fest early are checked at the gate for the addressed season ticket holder? I would love to get an auto of the Goose on a pine tar bat I have already autographed by George Brett. If anyone could PM a copy of the letter, I would greatly appreciate it.

just curious, who do you plan on going to to get stuff signed? i was originally going to get blanks & latos, but since they added alot of players i didnt expect (loretta, roberts, goose, rollie) im thinking of going to goose & rollie. i could probaly get roberts & loretta ttm. if i end up skipping blanks & latos, is there a good chance theyll be signing during the season? and does anyone know how long the signings will go on for, as the event is from 10-5, but im not sure the players will be signing the whole time.

they typically sign about 250 autographs, then switch the players. they have given out tickets for each player and then you get in line. Adrian's line will fill up the fastest. some of the lines will go fast enough and not "run out" of tickets so you can go get someone else. its usually organized konfusion....lol

thanks! wasnt sure if itd be set up like the fan day w/ no tix, or like other friarfests in the past. asfter you got an auto, didnt you have to leave and re-enter to get another player ticket?

In previous years they gave out a certain number of tickets per player, but I can't recall if you had to leave and re-enter to get another ticket. Last year was a total charlie foxtrot. They sectioned off seating areas per player, and you had to physically sit in a seat to be guaranteed an auto. So, it was difficult to get more than one player since everyone signed around the same time. Hopefully it will be better organized this year, but we'll just have to wait and see how it's organized when we get there. I was going to go after Adrian, but if I can only get 1 player I have a game used bat of Steve Garvey's I need to get signed that's taking priority!

According to the padres.com article about friarfest, it looks like there will be a "retro" section where former players will be signing autographs, probally where gossage,Rollie, templeton, and maybe Loretta & Roberts will be at instead of being with will all the current players/staff

Let's not over-analyze this, bro! Sometimes you just have to go with it. We'll see what happens when we get there...

What, you mean he's going to become a worse signer than he's already been?? Ha, ha. I wonder why he chose MAB. They're a reuptable company, but I doubt they can get him as much as Steiner, Tri Star, or UDA would have been able to.

No, for some reason Tony likes to sign this picture above his head, but there wasn't much room for that on this print. Pluc, D wasn't assertive enough to ask him to sign over the plaque, ha, ha, ha...
