Rest assured they will be utilizing him. by dumping him early to KC, chargers dont have to give him the 2.5m on the rest of his contract. So they simply dumped him off the first bidder.
It's moves like that, that always come back to haunt us. I dont care what Chambers has or hasnt done with us. We still have to play against him and hope he doesnt give up too much info.
I'm all for putting players out, just not to division rivals. Perhaps the Chargers admin. Saw things differently.

I'm sure Chris Chambers can give inside information as to some things in our playbook, but the game plan changes from week to week. I don't think this will have a major impact on the game, and I highly doubt the Chiefs are signing him just to win 1 game against the Chargers.

This article just pop up
The Kansas City Chiefs latest search for a productive veteran wide receiver began in San Diego on Monday.
The Chargers surprised the league by cutting veteran receiver Chris Chambers, one day after he was demoted as a starter after a sluggish start to the season. Because of a healthy contract, Chambers, 31, was only expected to garner waiver interest from a contender. But the odds were on him becoming a free agent.
Yet, Kansas City, near the top of the waiver priority list thanks to their 1-6 record, jumped at the chance (http://twitter.com/Adam_Schefter/statuses/5402215150)to add Chambers. Looking at the recent history of the Chiefs, it wouldn’t be a surprise that the team added Chambers, who until a year or so ago was considered one of the better possession receivers in the league.
Under new general manager Scott Pioli and new coach Todd Haley, the team has marched several veteran receivers into town, including Amani Toomer, Ashley Lelie, Bobby Engram and Bobby Wade, in recent months. Only Wade and Engram remain on the roster.
Chambers is probably the best of Kansas City’s veteran receiver additions. While he has lost speed, Chambers should be decent No. 2 receiver to Dwayne Bowe and give quarterback Matt Cassel some much-needed help.
A change of scenery from San Diego could serve Chambers well. Chambers believes he may have been cut (http://www.signonsandiego.com/news/2009/nov/02/chargers-part-ways-chambers02/) partly because of a personal issue. If he can regain some of his ability, this will be a good move for the Chiefs. At the very least, he’ll be in the Chiefs’ rotation.
The Chargers also will benefit from Kansas City claiming Chambers, who’ll be a free agent at the end of the season. The Chiefs have taken on the remaining portion of Chambers’ $4.55 million salary by claiming him. San Diego would have been on the hook for the salary had Chambers not been claimed.

Great news for the Chargers - since he was claimed that means KC has to pick up the remaining $2.5M on his contract this year. That gives us some additional cap room to deal with extending some of our core players.

I don't see this as a bad spot from the Chargers standpoint. He could have went to other better teams and pushed them over the top (Possibly). Now he's at a bad KC team and will make them better. We had our best victory against them so I can't see us worrying too much when we face them again.

At the time, we needed him. Jackson still wasn't ready, Parker was slated to be our #2 and we went on IR, Buster & Nanee were wide-eyed rookies and Floyd was always hurt.
Jackson has emerged as a monster, Nanee has proven himself in live game situations, and hopefully Floyd has put the injury bug behind him. Maybe this means that Buster is getting better as well.
Chambers served his purpose well but his game has fallen off, and WR is no longer a concern in SD as it was for years before his arrival. Now we have more pressing needs for roster space, LB being one of them.

Yeah maybe Haley is going to pick his brain to figure out how we're so effective in the red zone. Or maybe how to get his star running back on track...
Haley masterminded the Cardinals offense last year, he doesn't need any information from Chambers.
Besides, have you seen the Chefs receiving corps?! They picked him up because he's probably better than anyone they have on their roster save for Dwayne Bowe, and they need the help.
The fact that he played for a division rival is just a bonus.

Man the CC release news jus keeps gettin worse.
So we get him in 07 away from a rebuilding non PO contending Miami, use him well. And then release him only to be picked up by another rebuilding team wout PO hopes for the duration of his twilight years. I really was hoping that CC could get a ring before he was done. He really has deserved it for all the years he practicaly carried MIAs O on his back. Much like LT did for SD in his early years. It is an unjustice when such talent manages to not be able to grasp that final prize.
I do consider CC one of my all-time favorite WRs, but I dont follow his career religously. But I wonder what off field issues you are reffering to as I was under the impression VJ was our off field issues WR??

Maybe they'll look at the development of VJ in 2007 and think that the same thing could happen for their young star WR. Bowe has reportedly been struggling to play to his potential this year, so if Chambers goes to KC and helps him become an elite WR, paying out $2.5M in unused cap space (as far as I know there is nobody the Chiefs need to re-up for next year) is a reasonable investment. And, if Chambers performs well in KC, he could get a contract extension and help out their $63M quarterbust. It's a gamble, but there's the possibility that he would be more than an 8 game rental. If you think about it, with the way he helped VJ take his game to the next level, that trade is still paying dividends and will continue to do so in the future

Doesn't matter much that he knows our playbook on Offense. Their defense still sucks and there are so many options from one offensive set that it wouldn't be that much of an advantage. They just needed a WR to compliment Dwayne Bowe, so I'm okay to keep it at that. A good deal for both teams involved.

The only reason why the chiefs would be getting chambers is that they are serious about retaining him for next year as I see their season is done for this year. Pretty expensive tryouts I would say at this point.

We got 2.5 million dollars and a roster spot for James Holt for Chambers who was doing nothing in 2009, and hurt in 2008. Sitting a veteran in CC behind VJax, Floyd, and Legs wasn't going to happen.

'Doing nothing' apparently was getting a vital reception in his final game for us. It was up to the coaches to get more out of him, he obviously wasn't finished as a receiver. He cost us a second round pick, I hope his replacement is worth that. Before the trade deadline we might have been able to bring in an immediate impact player on defense in some kind of trade package.

A 2nd round pick we gave up that helped get us into the playoffs and produced big time in 2007. With CC's help, we got to the AFCCG, we had another weapon for defenses to focus on, and our WRs started to emerge(Joiner was mostly responsible). He was well worth that 2nd round pick. He had 5 TDs in 2008 before he got injured.
However, this year we got nothing out of him. He was not doing anything, he was not getting open along the sidelines, he was dropping passes over the middle. I will say that he did get open deep 3-4 times but Rivers couldn't hit him whether it be a bad pass, or bad protection. Still, we got nothing out of him, and other teams certainly weren't going to give up a draft pick or player for him.
I didn't think he was finished as a receiver, just that he was done here in SD.
