For years before Jordan, Nicklaus and Palmer were #1 and #2 EVERY year in endorsements. They kicked the crap out of all the athletes in the major sports. I don't see how Jordan's ad success relates to Tiger. Nicklaus and Palmer's dominance in the field would be the measuring stick for Tiger Woods.

Nicklaus and Palmer were making millions before Jordan.

Yeah, it showed you can sell a pair of shoes made in a 3rd world country by a 12 year old making 10 cents a day for over $200. Not MJ's best side if you ask me.

Jordan was aware that the workers of his shoes made next to nothing. He was asked about it several times, and always choose to ignore the questions.

Nothing compared to the Guy's from the late 80's on.............Jordan was definetly the First Mega, Worldwide, Superstar Sportsman who enabled other's to reap the benefit's ...........without a doubt in my mind.

I think it's less about Jordan, and more about the companies. It was the right time and right people, but crediting Jordan with creating it all is absurd, IMO. He was just the face. The real money in that situation is Phil Knight.

Nike would still have the same amount of cash without Jordan. They just would have done it differently.
